Week 21: Mega Steelix

Steelix @ Steelixite
Ability: Strudy
EVs: 252 HP / 16 Atk / 220 Spd
Adamant
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Heavy Slam
- Curse / Toxic / Rest
The bulkiest physical mon we have in the tier, and a mon I can never seem to use as effectively as my opponents use it. Everything on this mon is relatively standard of a Stealth Rock setter, STABs + Rocks. Curse lets you beat Gligar and preventing it from Defogging on you for free. Toxic lets you punish Milotic trying to switch in, forcing it to Refresh, while Rest attempts to provide you some sort of recovery although its usually only paired with cleric support.

- Stealth Rock
- Moonblast
- Power Gem

hit it with anything as it switches in n bop it with zground gg

252+ SpA Diancie Tectonic Rage (175 BP) vs. 252 HP / 220 SpD Steelix-Mega: 294-346 (83 - 97.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

poison dart (Dragalge) @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 124 HP / 252 SpA / 132 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Sludge Wave
- Focus Blast
- Scald

about as simple as simple gets. get basically any amount of chip and then explode steelix - you don't even need to outpredict it outside of not clicking draco, as you outspeed it easily.

252+ SpA Dragalge All-Out Pummeling (190 BP) vs. 252 HP / 220 SpD Steelix-Mega: 312-368 (88.1 - 103.9%) -- 25% chance to OHKO

(this also nails snorlax, porygon2, and escav w fblast into pummeling after rocks)

Reserving Fightinium Z toxicroak

Toxicroak @ Fightinium Z
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Focus Punch / Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance
- Drain Punch
- Ice Punch

M-steelix thanks to its good def can easily tank 4 drain punch of toxicroak and even at +2 it doesn't OHKO, I saw many times some steelix to come and force out toxicroak, but with fightinium z Z-drain punch at +2 can Always kill, Focus Punch is an option as it kills steelix at +0 with a bit of chips while also OHKing Mandibuzz and Milotic at +2.

+2 252 Atk Toxicroak All-Out Pummeling (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Steelix-Mega: 378-446 (106.7 - 125.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Toxicroak All-Out Pummeling (200 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Steelix-Mega: 270-320 (76.2 - 90.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+2 252 Atk Toxicroak All-Out Pummeling (200 BP) vs. 252 HP / 64+ Def Mandibuzz: 463-546 (109.1 - 128.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recover

+2 252 Atk Toxicroak All-Out Pummeling (200 BP) vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Milotic: 474-558 (120.3 - 141.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery

+2 252 Atk Toxicroak All-Out Pummeling (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Bronzong: 348-409 (102.9 - 121%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Toxicroak All-Out Pummeling (200 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Bronzong: 249-294 (73.6 - 86.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Also thanks for tagging me, I forgot about this

Oh boy you guys ready for another week of exclusively z move lures cuz I sure am!

Escavalier @ Groundium Z
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Megahorn
- Drill Run
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance

Lix is one of the best escav switch ins in the tier, being one of if not the only mon that can literally shrug off any attack from the CB set with megahorn generally 5HKOing while not caring about its item being knocked off. Unfortunately for lix, Escav has just barely varied enough of a movepool to dispose of it as after one SD Tectonic Rage is enough to OHKO. You don't even need to predict right and SD on the switch since Heavy Slam only does 50% at most and you outspeed.

+2 252+ Atk Escavalier Tectonic Rage (160 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Steelix-Mega: 374-442 (105.6 - 124.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Groundinium BD Linoone

Yes, I know the best set is Gluttony Berry, but let's try it

Linoone @ Groundium Z
Ability: Gluttony
EVs: 148 HP / 252 Atk / 108 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Stomping Tantrum
- Seed Bomb
- Extreme Speed

If a MegaLix team sees a Linoone, probably will reserve it to revenge kill him. After a BD, linoone isn't able to kill megalix with a stomping tantrum. So if we equip him groundinium z, it is able to OHKO him.

CALCS:

+6 252+ Atk Linoone Stomping Tantrum vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Steelix-Mega: 228-270 (64.4 - 76.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

+6 252+ Atk Linoone Tectonic Rage (140 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Steelix-Mega: 424-500 (119.7 - 141.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Week 22: Moltres

Moltres @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Def / 216 Spe
Timid Nature
- Substitute
- Toxic
- Roost
- Flamethrower
I can already expect the lures y'all are gonna post, but here's a change of pace; Moltres is a bulky/offensive Pokemon. This set aims to hopefully stall their Rock-type moves w/ Pressure + Sub/Roost. Relatively self explanatory set, post your lures and have fun :).

Ribombee.png

Ribombee @ Focus Sash /Life Orb
Ability: Shield Dust
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Hidden Power [Rock]
- Moonblast
- Bug Buzz
moltres resists both stabs of ribombee, so lets take advantage of its x4 weakness to rock
+1 252 SpA Ribombee Hidden Power Rock vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Moltres: 360-428 (93.9 - 111.7%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 SpA Life Orb Ribombee Hidden Power Rock vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Moltres: 468-556 (122.1 - 145.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO
can even beat moltres in 1v1 O.O
0 SpA Moltres Flamethrower vs. +1 0 HP / 4 SpD Ribombee: 210-248 (80.4 - 95%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
broken ban it pls

Hooray for non z lure?

Steelix-Mega @ Steelixite
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 40 Atk / 216 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Heavy Slam
- Earthquake
- Rock Blast

So normally lix gets completely boned by def moltres since not only does Heavy Slam not even guarantee a 5HKO, but it doesnt even guarantee breaking the sub while Flamethrower still easily 2HKOs back. If molt switches in on this lix however, it'll die to Rock Blast after a Heavy Slam and it also won't be able to sub or roost to protect itself lest it risk straight up dying to 4-5 hit rock blasts (or getting destroyed by an eq on roost).

40+ Atk Steelix-Mega Heavy Slam (120 BP) vs. 248 HP / 44 Def Moltres: 93-109 (24.2 - 28.4%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
40+ Atk Steelix-Mega Rock Blast (3 hits) vs. 248 HP / 44 Def Moltres: 324-384 (84.5 - 100.2%) -- approx. 6.3% chance to OHKO after Leftovers recovery
40+ Atk Steelix-Mega Rock Blast (4 hits) vs. 248 HP / 44 Def Moltres: 432-512 (112.7 - 133.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery
40+ Atk Steelix-Mega Rock Blast (5 hits) vs. 248 HP / 44 Def Moltres: 540-640 (140.9 - 167.1%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Leftovers recovery

mad

Yanmega @ Choice Specs
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Bug Buzz
- Air Slash
- Ancient Power
- U-turn

Moltres is a common check to Yanmega, since he's such a devastating wallbreaker and takes a chunk off most switches. But with Ancient Power, that has become a less common move on Yanmega, it straight up kills it:

252 SpA Choice Specs Yanmega Ancient Power vs. 248 HP / 0 SpD Moltres: 416-492 (108.6 - 128.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO

You usually couldn't make good use of the boost if it happens but it's irrelevant anyway, the reason this move is here is to beat Moltres and that's it.
