Week 12 Defensive Landorus-Therian

Landorus-Therian is the second most used Pokemon in OU besides Garchomp and it has its reasons. Lando-T can be unpredictable on what set it runs since its great movepool being so vast, and its ability and stats in Defense making it check many Physical Pokemon; such as Talonflame, Charizard X, Excadrill, and etc. Also it is commonly nicknamed "Doge"...

I'll do HP Ice Lando-T

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- U-turn
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Stealth Rock

0- SpA Landorus-T Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP Landorus-T: 196-232 (51.3 - 60.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Pretty selfexplanatory, defensive Lando-T can't really touch itself outside of Stone Edge crits, and 2HKO'ing it with a hindering nature and no investment with HP Ice is pretty nice. The Lando-T set for this lure doesn't really matter all that much, I just picked defensive since it takes the least damage from Stone Edge and all sets 2HKO anyways

Ice Punch Life Orb Metagross

Metagross @ Life Orb
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Meteor Mash
- Zen Headbutt
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch

252+ Atk Life Orb Metagross Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-T: 380-447 (99.4 - 117%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO

P.S. if you don't Mega evolve Metagross this is the damage output on Landorus-T thanks to Clear Body.

Simple set which should be paired with Heal Bell/Safeguard to prevent Metagross from being burned.

Generally, a Landorus-T can come-in thinking you run Grass Knot as 4th move, but without using the Megastone you can even directly use Ice Punch on the switch to take away a massive chunck of pokemons 2x or 4x weak to Ice. In this scenario you can even run Pursuit to ensure the KO but you lose valuable coverage moves.
All these things happen with an Adamant nature+Life Orb which makes Clear Body useful towards opposite Intimidate cores.

- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Ancient Power

you are welcome for the detailed and intense explanation

Can I get mixtar for this one pls? Thx.

And now:

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
Nature: Naive (+Speed, -SpDef)
EVs: 56 Atk, 200 SpAtk, 252 Speed
Moves:
~ Earthquake
~ Stone Edge
~ Stealth Rock
~ Ice Beam

Calcs:

200 SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 8 SpD Landorus-T: 360-428 (94.2 - 112%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

200 SpA Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 8 SpD Landorus-T: 360-428 (94.2 - 112%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

0 Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tyranitar: 272-324 (79.7 - 95%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Even at neutral nature, Tytar outspeeds Defensive Lando-T with max speed. I'm at + Speed nature, so I outspeed Lando-T even more. I get to hit first and even if I roll low and there is no SR on the field, i get to hit once more.

Infernape @ Life Orb
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Fire Blast
- Vacuum Wave
- Hidden Power Ice

Defensive Landorus is often free to come in on Infernape, resisting its fighting STAB, & taking little from flare blitz thanks to intimidate, while in return even uninvested earthquake is a clean OHKO. With HP ice, however, Infernape has a 50% chance to OHKO from full, 100% after rocks or nasty plot:

252 SpA Life Orb Infernape Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 8 SpD Landorus-T: 354-416 (92.6 - 108.9%) -- 50% chance to OHKO

Just make sure to scout for scarf first! HP ice trades the coverage of grass knot for the likes of Slowbro and Hippowdon but also lets you beat Gliscor, Garchomp etc. while still maintaining STABs, setup, decent coverage and priority.

Talonflame @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Spe
Careful Nature
- Acrobatics
- Roost
- Bulk Up
- Will-O-Wisp

Lando-T is often used as a switch-in to Talonflame, but with WoW and Bulk Up, Talon can cripple it as it switches in and potentially use it as setup fodder lategame.

0 Atk burned Landorus-T Stone Edge vs. +1 248 HP / 0 Def Talonflame: 176-208 (49 - 57.9%) -- 96.1% chance to 2HKO
0 Atk burned Landorus-T Earthquake vs. +1 248 HP / 0 Def Talonflame: 132-156 (36.7 - 43.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO (At +1 you can Roost on Lando)

ABR used this in the OLT

Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 248 HP / 56 Def / 148 SpD / 56 Spe
Careful Nature
- Roost
- Ice Fang
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance

Lures in TankChomp and Lando-D's with Ice Fang + SD

+1 0 Atk Gliscor Ice Fang vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-T: 212-252 (55.4 - 65.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 0 Atk Gliscor Ice Fang vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-T: 280-332 (73.2 - 86.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Tornadus-Therian (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Heat Wave/Focus Blast
- U-turn
- Hidden Power [Ice]/ Icy Wind

So I've seen MoB Barley use dis Torn-T set which proved to be helpful at times. Icy Wind and HP ice both 2hko physically defensive lando-t and physically defensive lando-t stone miss 2hko's which makes Torn-T beat it. However against scarf varients HP ice kills Lando-T after rocks but with no rocks its a 31.3% chance to OHKO. Icy Wind 2HKO's but drops scarf lando-t's speed to be outsped by Torn-T. But if there's rocks icy wind has a 62.5% chance to ohko after rocks. It not only lures lando-t but also defensive gchomp and other fast mons.

0 Atk Landorus-T Stone Edge vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Tornadus-T: 238-282 (79.5 - 94.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Tornadus-T Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 8 SpD Landorus-T: 280-332 (73.2 - 86.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Tornadus-T Icy Wind vs. 252 HP / 8 SpD Landorus-T: 256-304 (67 - 79.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Tornadus-T Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T: 284-336 (89 - 105.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
252 SpA Tornadus-T Icy Wind vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Landorus-T: 260-308 (81.5 - 96.5%) -- 62.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Mixed Glaciate Victini

Victini @ Expert Belt
Ability: Victory Star
EVs: 236 Atk / 132 SpA / 140 Spe
Naive Nature
- V-Create
- Zen Headbutt
- Glaciate
- Bolt Strike

SpA Investment in and Glaciate gives Victini a smooth 50% Chance to KO Defensive Lando-T after Stealth Rock. More Special Attack investment can be ran to guarantee it but you lose out on power for your physical attacks. A Life Orb can be ran to guarantee it at the cost of having your item revealed.

132 SpA Expert Belt Victini Glaciate vs. 252 HP / 8 SpD Landorus-T: 307-365 (80.3 - 95.5%) -- 50% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Thanks to KidMagic!

Reserving WoW MCharX

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 248 HP / 100 Def / 160 Spe
Impish Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
- Earthquake / Dragon Claw

Even if Landog isn't too much of a consistent ZardX check, it's one of the few things that can stop ZardX anyway so that's cool. Anyways, as Landog switches in to hopefully Intimidate to get things done, you catch it with WoW and cripple it for the entirety of the match. FatZardX also functions as a nice Bish, Weavile (from top health tho), and Zard Y check while beating pretty every SR setter bar Heatran. EQ or Claw is player preference.

Diggersby @ Life Orb
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Earthquake
- Quick Attack
- Swords Dance

Defensive Lando-T normally switches in fine against Diggersby as it is only 3HKOed by Return after Stealth Rock while being immune to Earthquake. With Swords Dance, Diggersby turns the tables around by OHKO-ing it after Stealth Rock, factoring in Intimidate.

+1 252+ Atk Life Orb Huge Power Diggersby Return vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-T: 328-386 (85.8 - 101%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Garchomp @ Life Orb
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock

Defensive lando switches into most garchomp expecting it to be tankchomp and to trade rocks however if you draco on the switch you 2hko you also lure in ferro which is nice.

252 SpA Life Orb Garchomp Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 8 SpD Landorus-T: 238-281 (62.3 - 73.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

-2 252 SpA Life Orb Garchomp Draco Meteor vs. 252 HP / 8 SpD Landorus-T: 121-142 (31.6 - 37.1%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

Terrakion @

Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Close Combat
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Stone Edge
- Swords Dance

HP Ice Terrakion is a quite legitimate and viable lure for Landorus-Therian, cleanly 2HKOing through Leftovers recovery. It can even act as as an NSI to Landog if it is weakened enough, as it outspeeds. Rock Polish can be put over Swords Dance if you REALLY want to shut down Offense, and you already have a decent way to deal with bulkier teams.

4 SpA Life Orb Terrakion Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 8 SpD Landorus-T: 208-250 (54.4 - 65.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Scotti

we back.

Tyranitar (F) @ Expert Belt
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Mild Nature
- Ice Beam
- Pursuit
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt

The ultimate landorus-t lure. This thing kills 1-3 mons on a team right off the back, because most people arent prepared for it. Landorus-T normally likes to switch in on this thing, but in the end it gets bopped. Not only that tank chomp gets absolutely destroyed(a very common lead), and it lures in skarm, mega scizor, ferro, keldeo, and other mons. The reason I mentioned other mons beside lando-t is to show unlike other lures that may be posted in the thread, tyranitar can lure in more then one mon and be extremely helpful with pursuit to trap mons. It also outspeed 8 spe ev's defensive lando-t by 1 point.

Useless Calcs
252+ SpA Expert Belt Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 8 SpD Landorus-T: 499-590 (130.6 - 154.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
and more to show off
252+ SpA Expert Belt Tyranitar Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 168 SpD Ferrothorn: 389-461 (110.5 - 130.9%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Expert Belt Tyranitar Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Skarmory: 338-401 (101.1 - 120%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Expert Belt Tyranitar Thunderbolt vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Keldeo: 228-269 (70.5 - 83.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after sandstorm damage
252+ SpA Expert Belt Tyranitar Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 76 SpD Garchomp: 437-518 (104 - 123.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
0 Atk Garchomp Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4- Def Tyranitar: 276-326 (80.9 - 95.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

Rhyperior @ Choice Band
Trait: Solid Rock
EVs: 192 HP / 252 Atk / 64 Spe
Adamant Nature

- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Megahorn

Choice Band Rhyperior itself is pretty rare, so the set could act as a lure to many things that check the defensive variant, including Lando-T. It packs enough power to 2HKO Ferrothorn, Skarmory, Hippowdon and Alomomola after Stealth Rock damage. The 64 Spe EVs let it outspeed Hippowdon. Ice Punch deals a solid 85% to Lando-T, a possible OHKO with rocks. It can even take an Earthquake if it needs to.

-1 252+ Atk Choice Band Rhyperior Ice Punch vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-T: 296-352 (77.4 - 92.1%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
0 Atk Landorus-T Earthquake vs. 196 HP / 0 Def Solid Rock Rhyperior: 177-211 (42.1 - 50.2%) -- 0.4% chance to 2HKO

Hoopa-Unbound @ Life Orb
Ability: Magician
EVs: 160 Atk / 96 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Hyperspace Fury
- Gunk Shot
- Grass Knot
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Hoopa is well know by running mix set but is very uncommon run Hidden Power Ice, most of the time people switch in to defensive lando to take Hyperspace which i'll calc down below and you can see that barely does damage but then you can destroy it with HP Ice clean Hko'ing also help against bulky chomp, and with this coverage basically massacre stall.
-1 160 Atk Life Orb Hoopa Unbound Hyperspace Fury vs. 252 HP / 240+ Def Landorus-T: 122-146 (31.9 - 38.2%) -- 1.8% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
96 SpA Life Orb Hoopa Unbound Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 8 SpD Landorus-T: 452-536 (118.3 - 140.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO - Gone
