Back to our journey...
Some high IQ double battles with NPCs before the gym.
Now challenging the Winstrate family. I'm well aware grandma has a fucking High Jump Kick Meditite, so I'mma be real careful.
Beating her was actually fine at the end of the day. Lead with linnunrata and it straight up OHKO'ed the Meditite.
Time for the gym now, though. I thought this'd be easy after beating a High Jump Kick Meditite, but boy was I wrong.
All the gym trainers were pretty fine and I thought I'd be cool with a Grovyle versus Wattson, but well, I underestimated his Manectric. I'll tell you that much.
And that's a good start! I really thought kapulei would do the trick in one hit, but my boy survived with that Lax nature.
Second 'mon down!
So, I really didn't have a good Magneton switch in, so I had to keep kapulei in, and keep wearing it down until I beat it. Of course, this meant a lot of Super Potions and a lot of full paralyzes. At least I managed to waste Wattson's Super Potions, so that's at least a positive. Had he not used 'em all on Magneton, I think I might have been screwed against his Manectric.
And at least, kapulei takes it out. Onto the Manectric!
So. It started Howling up, and I honestly didn't consider it getting that troublesome. I had to pull a double to echidna and back to kapulei at least once or twice to remove some of the boosts, but it was still looking rough to me.
And it has a fucking Sitrus Berry. Now my Grovyle is low and I'm honestly clueless what to do against this Manectric so that it doesn't straight up sweep my whole team.
kapulei getting low rolls with Bullet Seed really wasn't helping me. And at this point Manectric had a handful of boosts under its belt.
So, at this point, I had a little plan. The only way I could get to beat this monster was to sacrifice someone, because literally none of my Pokémon could take a second hit.
From there I went into skoll to get some chip damage off so that I could actually beat this Manectric.
Had to sacrifice kappa as, once again, no one could stomach a hit.
From this point though, it was just enough for Silk Scarf linnunrata to pick the Manectric off. I'm still baffled I managed to beat this Manectric without any *major* casualties. F in chat for kappa and fenrir, both served their duties and will sincerely be missed.
And here's the state of the team after this match. Really close call!
Thanks Wattson! I really needed some kind of reward after you literally almost wiped out my whole team lol.
And the third badge's acquired. Nice!
Time to put 'em in the box. Goodbye, fenrir.
Goodbye, kappa!
I really like side quests like this. As ridiculous as they may be!
Now onto a new Route!
And hephaestus is the team's new member. I feel like a Ground-type is really welcome after the Manectric massacre so there we go!
Looks fishy. I wonder what's up!
And Koffing is my Fiery Path encounter. A good 'mon overall!
Managed to catch it. She's named after the Hawaiian deity Pele.
And I'm putting some 'mons in the daycare so they can gain experience along the way. You never know when you need new Pokémon.
Really happy to find this NPC. This route was getting long enough as is!
And this guy's the one telling me about Secret Bases. That's cool and all but looking back at ORAS I really miss the addition of Aarune!
Now onto this beautiful route! Really hoping for a Skarmory, but the odds are slim...
Welp, that's not a Skarmory!
Double Battle tips 101: You can use Self-Destruct to KO your ally!
And we're training little hephaestus. He's gonna be a mainstay :)
And after such a long way to the next Town, we reach Fallarbor. Finally!
Beautiful Town tbh.
Upon visiting Professor Cozmo's house, we found out he's missing! Fishy once again...
If only I could found Gold Nuggets like this in real life lmao.
On my way to the next Town, this random Barboach gets a straight-up Magnitude 10!
After training skoll up a bit it finally evolved! I really love Manectric so I'm glad to have it on my team.
And this is our Route 114 encounter. Since kappa is dead, we can catch a Lombre!
Having a little visit to Lanette's house.
And I just remembered to give Manectric the Shock Wave TM.
Onto Meteor Falls. Really wish Bagon was catchable throughout the whole cave but it's sadly only available in a specific room.
And I was wishing for a Bagon earlier lol!
And there's Professor Cozmo!
Honestly, I really like how these games have two villainous teams, and seeing their interactions is pretty cool!
The precursor of the Ball Guy!
And now we can go up the gondola to Mt. Chimney! I love this view.
And here we are. I really like this place, we need more volcanoes in Pokémon.
And after defeating all the goons, it's time to challenge Maxie. I don't think it's gonna be particularly hard with hephaestus and echidna, but well, we'll see!
And echidna is straight-up bodying everyone. I'm glad I decided to level up my Magikarp!
Fufufu...
Onto Jagged Path now!
And this cutie is our encounter :)
And we finally hit Lavaridge Town! Might as well take this Egg to hatch!
Hephaestus is gonna like this!
Changing bikes to explore more of Jagged Path.
Oh yeah, and while we're at Mauville, I'm buying the Thunderbolt TM for Manectric!
We continue in the next post :)
