ORAS OU M.Gallade/Bisharp/Thundurus Set-Up Team

Hello, most users will know me much better as PrincessGardevoir on PS, and this is a really old team. And I haven't done a RMT in forever, so forgive me if this looks poor in quality.

Like, older than a team should be. Back in early 2015-old.

The original concept of many of my teams was to have a set of resistances for any switchin that would be necessary, with most of them having double types that never overlapped either. This team was the only one that had fit that role, and was also very fun to build and is the only team I have fully from memory. My teams also had one final, very specific pattern I had used for many of them, which I'll just explain here:

1. The first three mons of a team are physical attackers, the next two are special, and the last mon is usually either mixed offense if I'm going for a purely offensive team or a wall for a more balanced one.

2. One special and one Physical mon are always set-up sweepers, however I also occasionally trade out one of the physical attackers for a Bisharp, which has become almost my signature mon in terms of my third or first slot.

3. Usually I have two Choice mons on the team, one most of the time with Trick. For this team in particular, I didn't have that.

4. The Mega almost always is a set-up sweeper. I can't use any of the others effectively.

5. The team will RARELY have a spinner/defogger, since I find more purpose with other slots. That's something that this team has the problem about not having one, but in experience the team deals with hazards pretty well with 2 resists, a mon that benefits from Sticky Web, and being a team that ends matches in 20 turns or less normally anyways.

But enough explaining, you all are here to look and rate my team, and I probably shouldn't stall any longer. So, here we go.

Isa (Gallade-Mega) @ Galladite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Close Combat
- Zen Headbutt
- Knock Off
- Swords Dance

Old Friend Alice (Bisharp) @ Lum Berry
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Iron Head
- Swords Dance

It began as a sort of idea that I had, since I'd been using Gallade and Bisharp for so long. Gallade was one of the trademark mons I'd become familiar with and known for (since everyone thinks he's awful it seems, and inferior to Medicham-Mega) and Bisharp was the mon that I had put on every single team since he fit the job the best. I looked at the two of them, realized that they both were SD sweepers that I'd become very used to, and shoved them together. You wouldn't think that the two have the greatest synergy with each other but they actually cover what the other can't sweep against decently well with the exception of a few things like getting past Skarmory.

Gallade runs a standard set, build to smash as many things as possible before falling. CC covers your Fighting STAB and Zen Headbutt the Psychic, while Knock Off hits the Psychic types that can wall the STAB options even if it won't kill most of them. Swords Dance sets up and lets me get off as much damage as physically possible. Bisharp is the same way, and I run Lum Berry as a method of royally screwing over Rotoms that think it's smart to Will-o-Wisp me as I SD. It also catches defensive Talonflames completely off guard, since they can't burn me on a sucker punch - I just Knock Off. Moveset doesn't need much explaining there.

Tundablot (Thundurus) @ Yache Berry
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Focus Blast
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Nasty Plot

After that the thought was that the team immediately lost to anything with a high defense stat not named Chansey (i.e. Skarmory). While that wasn't actually true, I wanted some form of a special sweeper, and after a while of considering other choices I went straight with Thundurus. He is the third set-up sweeper that the team has and the final one, and was the main tool back in mid-2015 for sweeping teams with Hidden Power Flying for Venusaur (who I had seen a lot), Thunderbolt for obvious STAB, and Focus Blast for extra coverage, especially against Steel and Rock types. I had also originally gone with Thunder Wave over Hidden Power, but as the team progressed I began to notice that I was using Thunder Wave less and less due to my team never needing it, as oftentimes the fast threats died to one of the later mons I will speak about.

As of late I've changed it off Hidden Power Flying in exchange for Hidden Power Ice, as a more effective method of destroying Gliscor, Garchomp, and Landorus-Therian, three things that are really frustrating for Bisharp for the former 2 and Gallade for the latter one. Therian I have experimented with before, but it didn't have enough speed to work effectively and I scrapped that idea. Yache Berry is also something that you wouldn't expect to see, but it has saved me several times from random HP Ice from many mons as well as Ice Beams from Starmie, who will use it in order to 'kill' Thundurus and don't do much to it, as well as 'revenge killer' Weaviles with Ice Shard.

252 SpA Life Orb Starmie Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Yache Berry Thundurus: 129-152 (43 - 50.6%) -- 2% chance to 2HKO
252 Atk Life Orb Weavile Ice Shard vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Yache Berry Thundurus: 109-129 (36.3 - 43%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

JAWS THE MUSICAL (Garchomp) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 100 Def / 56 SpD / 100 Spe
Impish Nature
- Dragon Tail
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock

Then I was looking for a tank for the team to have, and at this point I'd begun experimenting with a Scolipede Offense team (Not Baton Pass when it was legal, no, SD offensive Scolipede.) and found that Tankchomp was the most frustrating thing in the universe to go up against. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em - and that's what I did, although originally I had it as a Scarf Garchomp but quickly changed to Tankchomp in order to work better. He solves the problem mostly that the team has involving Mega Lopunny, as well as is the Stealth Rock setter of the team.

His Moveset is pretty simple; Earthquake hits things hard that try and set up, Dragon Tail forces out basically anything if it's not something I want in and racks up some Stealth Rock damage, Stealth Rock needs 0 explanation, and Fire Blast damages Scizor and Ferrothorn a good amount. The real thing is the EVs. There is enough speed to outspeed max speed jolly Bisharp/Breloom and a bit more, max into HP, and a bit of Special Defense to take Hidden Power Ices a bit better. I'm not entirely certain what calculation I had done in the past for this, but I do remember the number being 56 Special Defense. Probably something like LO Thundurus or Raikou, one of which is below. The rest was shoved into Defense in order to take on Lopunny better.

As a comparison...
252 SpA Life Orb Raikou Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 56 SpD Garchomp: 338-400 (80.4 - 95.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252 SpA Life Orb Raikou Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Garchomp: 359-426 (85.4 - 101.4%) -- 12.5% chance to OHKO

Tabane Shinonono (Azumarill) @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 88 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Play Rough
- Aqua Jet
- Superpower

Now, having 3 set up mons and a tank on the team, I wanted something that could easily punch holes into basically anything that existed. And Azumarill fits. Azu simply destroys anything in its path and is a late game win condition if the opponent has no resists for an Aqua Jet, with Banded damage being extremely powerful. Its immunity to Dragon and resistance to a bunch of attacks that my team otherwise doesn't much like taking is very helpful, letting me deal with tons of threats that normally are pains such as Weavile that carry Low Kick, certain Manaphy sets, and at the time being a damage dealer to Klefkis.

The moveset is basic, like every single other mon that I've covered so far. Waterfall and Play Rough are the main STAB moves to do as much damage as possible, and Aqua Jet forms a priority move that allows Azumarill to sweep late-game against a weakened team and with Stealth Rocks up, if necessary. Superpower hits every Steel type that happens to be named Ferrothorn very hard. The EVs are enough to get past Clefable, which otherwise can Thunder Wave and/or heal up before Azumarill can punch it hard enough, with max into Attack and the rest poured into HP for a bulky investment. Choice Band is the item because, well, it's not Belly Drum and I was certain at the time that no other items were run outside of Choice Band except for low ladder players.

gengar.gif

Hisouten (Gengar) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Focus Blast
- Destiny Bond

And my teams have to have something stupid in them. Something that looks like it might break a team, that I put in just because one of my friends does it or I feel like doing so. Choice Scarf Gengar sounds ridiculously dumb at first glance, and actually yes it is, but for some reason it does an incredible amount of work.

Let me explain. Say your opponent has a Weavile, or Starmie, or anything above Base 110 Speed that they know can revenge kill Gengar. They will attempt to use an attack and will most likely get bopped by a Scarfed Shadow Ball/Focus Blast/Sludge Wave if they are not careful, and if I'm locked into an attack, well, crap. I've used it as a bait against a bunch of opponents really effectively, since people seem to not think that Gengar is capable of being faster than Base 110 Speed. It also is an effective Charizard, Dragonite, Tyranitar (to an extent), and Salamence Dragon Dance stopper, since Scarfed Gengar outspeeds them all at +1 and can use Destiny Bond to take them down alongside it, or outright KO if their health is too low after the first hit they take.

And that's my team and the reasoning behind (basically) everything the team has to offer; I'd love to get advice and tips for what to work on for this team, since I haven't played Overused and actually tried in about a year. Anything helps.

Only one mon needs fixing: Gengar! Your gonna want to use a life orb set instead, as scarfed gengar simply isn't viable. If something is going to outspeed you, a choice lock isn't going to be helpful fighting it, frankly it's terrible! Life orb gives the freedom AND allows you to taunt things. AND, your current thundurus doesn't have taunt so it's perfect! Heres the set.

I've used Life Orb Gengar on the team before, and instead had Garchomp Scarfed (which I had mentioned in the OP). The team did well but I wanted some sort of random gimmick that would never work in any other circumstance, so I attached a Scarf to Gengar at a friend's behest and decided to use the team. It beat Bloody Sunday's team, even with the Choice Scarf, if that means anything to you.

I'll try using LOrb Taunt Gengar again later today, but I probably won't change it. It's become a staple on the retarded team that is my team haha

Just don't run a scarfed set at all.
