By SullyZorZ

Weather ain't dead. This is a heavily offensive Charizard-Y sun team that roflstomps the unprepared. I made an alt account on showdown and played this team exclusively for 19 matches going 17-2 and hitting 2100 psr. Im honestly mediocre at pokemon, so this is a testament to the team's power. It has very good synergy as i will explain in my descriptions.

Charizard (Ragnarok) /w blaze @ Charizardite y
Timid/4hp/252spatk/252speed/0atk ivs
- Fire Blast
- Flame Thrower
- Solar Beam
- Dragon Pulse

What is probably the new main sun inducer of gen6, which unlike ninetales is a huge offensive threat to opponents teams on it's own, boosting it's already massive 159 base STAB fire attacks by an additional 50% and subsequently destroying worlds. Hence the name Ragnarok, which is a word for the cosmos being destroyed and subsequently recreated, or rather the twilight of the gods.
(Countered by Heatran/bliss/chancey)

Moves Explanation:

Fire blast; is standard for the biggest punch at 110 power, killing just about everything that doesn't resist it / isn't specially bulky.

Flamethrower; Initially this was focus blast, which on paper seemed great for tyranitar, heatran and other things. However after many matches on PO and showdown, not once did i need focus miss.
In switching to flamethrower, i found i could kill what i needed in situations where i couldn't risk the lack of accuracy of fire blast.

Solar Beam; Takes out water type threats under sun namely azumaril, manaphy and rotom-w. The first two need slight prior damage to guarantee 1 hit ko's

Dragon Pulse; This finishes my coverage allowing me to take out dragon's resisting my grass/fire coverage, as well as do neutral damage to opposing fire types like arcanine or chandelure.

Stat Explanation:

Standard Max speed and max special attack. Charizard y actually has some decent special bulk going for it. 0 Atk iv's is so confusion hits to myself as well as foul play hits from opponents do less to me.

Conkeldur (Demon Fist) /w Guts @ Assault Vest
Adamant/252atk/136hp/120spdef
- Mach Punch
- Drain Punch
- Knock Off
- Ice Punch

This conkeldur is a very useful utility set. It's a physical sweeper, and a decent mixed wall. It takes status to further boost it's physical attack through guts, and has it's special defense increased by 50% from assault vest. It deals with bliss/chansey/ttar/heatran etc. The name Demon fist isn't anything particularly clever like charizard's nickname. Rather a reminder to my opponents that if i use the right punch something is going to be hurting.
(countered by azumaril, skarmory, hipowdon)

Move Explanation:

Mach Punch: Stab priority move thats useful for finishing off weakened opponents, or just get a little damage off so another pokemon on my team can do the rest.

Drain Punch: This move hits like a truck against anything that doesn't resist it / isn't a physical wall and gives Conkeldur some form of recovery.

Knock Off: This causes so many issues to opponents, from destroying the predicted ghost switchin like chandelure, aegislash, gengar, sableye etc. To knocking off life orbs, leftovers and choice items.

Ice Punch: Deals with dragons, gliscor, and landorus/landorus-t, giving me pretty all round solid coverage.

Stats Explanation:

Max attack adamant is to give me the most damage possible and threaten opponents. The rest is split between special defensce and hp to give optimal special defense, while still maintaining high hp and the ability to take a strong physical hit if needed. Guts is pretty self explanatory, as most times im switching in on something that may status me, and essentially turns conkeldur into a powerful sweeper.

Genesect (Fire Spirit) /w Download @ Life Orb
Hasty/252speed/252atk/4hp
- Extreme Speed
- U Turn
- Iron head
- Blaze Kick

Pure Physical sweeper genesect with stab coverage of bug/steel and priority. It is fun to pivot from Genesect into dugtrio, who can trap the opponent's chandelure, arcanine, entei or heatran as it switches in. This then gives genesect a lot more freedom to cause mayhem. If i grab an attack boost coupled with life orb, it has a shot at sweeping. The nickname “Fire spirit” is a shortening of Spirit of Fire, the main antagonist's spirit in the anime Shaman king. Which actually looks kind of like genesect :]
(Countered by heatran/chandeulre/Jellicent/hippowdon)

Moves Explanation:

Extreme Speed: Strong Priority move that can sweep weakened opponents with +1 life orbed hits, not to be taken lightly.

U Turn: Stab momentum grabber, that sets up opportunities for dugtrio to trap, or to get in other pokemon safely.

Iron Head: Second stab move, and also a means to deal with fairys that are causing me issues like togekiss or clefable.

Blaze Kick: Destroys things with +1 life orb damage, gaining a psuedo stab boost under the sun.

Stat Explanation:

Hasty nature is required due to the event in which you get genesect, in order for this set of moves to be valid, otherwise i would use jolly. Max speed and attack so i can outspeed anything under positive base 100 speed.

Dugtrio (CheckMate) /wArena Trap @ Focus Sash
Jolly/21 hp ivs/252atk/252speed/4def
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Reversal

Dugtrio was probably my original favorite pokemon in gen1 due to how fast it would hit, and how it appeared to me to be a three headed monster lurking in the earth. I later discovered gengar, which replaced it as my favorite but i digress. Dugtrio is my stealth rocker, and trapper of threats such as tyranitar, heatran, chandelure, bisharp and blissey or chansey lacking toxic, or that are previously injured. Once the above threats have been removed, my charizard and heatran can go to work sweeping teams. Alternatively, if not needed for trapping, dugtrio can be saved as a measure to opposing sweepers with it's focus sash. (ie toxicroak, mawile and bisharp) I feel this pokemon is aptly named “Checkmate” as many a game it takes out my opponents' teams biggest threats and opens the path to an easy sweep.
(Countered by mega venusaur, azumaril, hippow, skarmory, conkeldurr, jellicent etc)

Moves Explanation:

Stealth Rock: Gives me some hazards to wrack up residual damage against opponents, pretty straight forwards.

Earthquake: Primary stab, decent damage considering dugtrio's lackluster attack stat.

Stone Edge: Was initially sucker punch, then momento. I found too often though that stone edge was greatly needed, for dealing with things like dragonite, talon flame, volcarona, mega pinsir and etc.
The lack of the move turned me into setup fodder for some.

Reversal: Hits really hard against what is weak to it when dugtrio is low on hp, my chansey/blissey destroyer.

Stat Explanation:

21 hp iv's ensures that two seismic tosses from blissey or chansey gives me maximum damage output from reversal. The rest is pretty standard, max speed and speed nature rest put into attack.

Latias (Eon) /w Levitate @ Life Orb
Timid/252speed/72hp/184spatk/0atk ivs
- Draco Meteor
- Psy Shock
- Thunder Bolt
- Defog

Latias in gen6 is not quite as relevant as it was in gen 5, but has found a niche as a defog user. That and it is still a fast special sweeper/special wall and is my best check to rain teams. Symbiotically it appreciates dugtrio removing heatrans, tyranitars and bisharps. While dugtrio appreciates keeping it's focus sash intact. If all this pokemon does is remove hazards with defog, then it has likely served it's purpose, The nickname i chose is nothing deep, i just thought Eon sounded cool.
(Countered by azumaril, tyranitar, heatran, blissey, chansey, scizor, bisharp)

Moves Explanation:

Draco Meteor: Hits any non special wall, steel or fairy type (damn thats a lot of things it doesnt hit) Really hard. Even when resisted it manages a little damage atleast.

Psy shock: Allows me to hit on the physical side, and outspeeds / takes out keldeo, terrakion, virizion, gengar, and amoongus that might want to cause problems for my team.

Defog: The main purpose of latias being on my team, sure it finds other uses, but i knew when making a charizard y sun team i needed an answer to stealth rocks, and this was the best i found for this purpose.

ThunderBolt: Was HP fire initially, then roost for longevity, now thunderbolt for overall better coverage. It is very helpful against azumaril, togekiss, skarmory and mandibuzz among other things, glad i made the change.

Stats Explanation:

Max speed timid nature in order to speed tie opposing base 110 speed pokemon, and beat everything below that. The 72 hp evs is for a little extra bulk, someone once in 5th gen told me to do this as you don't lose out on any noticeable ko's without it in spatk, while surviving certain hits. I can't remember specifically what they were, but i know i have had a few times where i survived with 5-10 hp, so i suppose it's true. 184 spatk obv so i can hit opponents hard. 0 atk iv's are to lessen damage from confusion and opponents using foul play.

Heatran (Red Hot) /w Flash Fire @ Air Baloon
Timid/4hp/252spatk/252speed/0 atk ivs
- Magma Storm
- Solar Beam
- Dragon Pulse
- Roar

This thing is amazing, it's an awesome anti-lead with Magma storm killing sashed pokemon like mamoswine, smeargle and galvanchula. It is a very powerful sweeper in it's own right, with enough bulk to take neutral or resisted hits if needed. Laughs at sub toxic gliscor and at excadrills. When used right, opponents often have to sac something just to break the baloon. It's also useful as a utility absorber of fire pokemon trying to take advantage of my sun. The name Red Hot is an abbreviation of red hot chilli peppers, a band i like.
(Countered by Politoed, Mega Lucario, terrakion, conkeldur, heatran, chansey blissey, tyranitar)

Moves Explanation:

Magma Storm: A powerful stab 120 base power move, that traps opponents and does residual damage per turn, destroying sash users, and works as a sort of second trapper.
In an ideal circumstance of a flash fire boosted magma storm in the sun (which isn't all that uncommon) you can wreck face. The 75% accuracy barely better than focus blast can be a bit offsetting though.

Solar Beam: Destroys water types like azumaril, rotom-w, gastrodon and etc under the sun.

Dragon Pulse: Is for killing Charizard-x, garchomp and other dragon's trying to cause me problems, it is also nice to have to finish off weakened opponents

Roar: This was for a very long time sunny day, which works best on paper, however, the only real opportunity to use sunny day is against politoeds, which i never see.
Alternatively, baton bassers can be really annoying, and this stops them before they get too strong.

Stat Explanation:

Max speed with speed nature to outspeed uninvested pokemon, and pokemon under heatran's unique 77 speed base. Max Special attack is to get the biggest hits i can from heatran's rather high base special attack. Zero attack iv's is once again, to lessen the effectiveness of opponents using foul play or confusing me.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Closing: This team is really fun to play, and pretty straight forward. When playing it be careful of azumaril, mega mawile, bisharp, and charizard-x, they seem to be the biggest issues i run into. Credit to Lavos Spawn, who made the awesome 5th gen sun team "Simulation of a Drought" Of which this RMT's layout emulates. Peace.
Nice team. Here are some damage calcs from SweeperCalc:
Assuming sun, CB on Talonflame and Azumarill. The rest are unboosted. Azumarill does do a lot of damage to your team but if you have sun up Latias can tank Choice-Locked Waterfalls all day.
I think it's pretty funny that Char-X actually does a ton of damage to your team. Sun boosted flare blitz at +1 1KHOs everything except for Heatran, which is 2HKO'd by +1 Outrage.
Physical Mega-luke might also be a problem if rocks goes down and it gets a free boost. Conk's mach punch only does 71% and gene's espeed does about 25%.
Have you considered going with a defensive spread on Heatran? It seems to be doing a lot of your defensive work, especially against Talonflame which would otherwise run through your team.
Hey Midgetno1, thanks for the rate. Lets look at some of the things you mentioned;
Talonflame is not really a threat, it gets handled by heatran, latias, and genesect extremespeed will kill it if it's taken any prior damage, dugtrio can stone edge it and live due to focus sash.
Lucario is destroyed by dugtrio, and if it's taken some damage, or used close combat, conkeldurr mach punch without guts boost does 70% as you mentioned. I have played a few of them, and never really had too much trouble.
Charizard-x is probably the biggest threat you mentioned to my team, it is by no means undefeatable though. If i can either get off stealth rocks, or save dugtrio until it comes out, it is dealt with. It will be trapped as i EQ for about 90% damage, after which conkeldurr or genesect can revenge kill. Also i've decided to change my heatran's hp ice into dragon pulse which does 85% damage to charizard-x, which cannot ko heatran back unless it's running brick break.
