Choice Scarf Magnemite greatly threatens teams that rely on Onix as their only answer to Volt Switch. This, when coupled with its Speed tier, makes it one of the most effective pivots and revenge killers in LC, being able to come in and severely weaken or revenge kill threatening sweepers like Tyrunt, Scraggy, and Woobat. Flash Cannon works well with Thunderbolt and Volt Switch, threatening Electric-immune foes with an Analytic-boosted Flash Cannon. Teleport eases prediction and allows Magnemite to safely pivot out against Pokemon like Diglett and Trapinch. Teams that use Magnemite appreciate another check to Vullaby, making Onix a great partner. Heat Wave Vullaby also serves as good support for Magnemite, being able to KO Pawniard and Ferroseed, which otherwise can revenge kill or wall Magnemite. Neutralizing Gas Koffing can prevent Regenerator users such as Mienfoo and Foongus from repeatedly switching into Magnemite.

Teleport rounds off this set by easing eases prediction and allowing allows Magnemite to safely pivot out against Pokemon that would otherwise trap it,(RC) trappers like Diglett or Trapinch. Teams that use Magnemite often include another check to Vullaby, making Onix a great partner that defensively supports Magnemite.
