I don't know if this would count as a "discussion" or not, but I want to know if these EVs are actually worth it. I know someone did this for their Gyarados recently.
252 SpAtk/84 Spd/172 SpDef
Max SpAtk obviously, and Modest.
84 Speed EVs gives it 177, which outspeeds Skarmory with no Speed EVs, and Swampert with less than 84 Speed EVs. And other Magnezones, I guess.
Ok, I don't think I've seen SpDef EVs on these before. I had 172 EVs left after SpAtk and Spd, did some calculations for its SpDef and put them there. Look at these.
Magnezone (No HP, No Def No SpDef EVs, 281/266/216)
Bold, 4SpAtk Slowbro uses Surf: 124 damage (~44%)
Bold, 252SpAtk Slowbro uses Surf: 155 (~55%)
Timid/Bold, 252SpAtk Starmie/Milotic uses Surf: 155 (~55%)
Brave Swampert does 153 (~54%) (I had Brave Swampert because I used to use Brave on Netbattle with Curse/EQ/Sub/Surf. This is using Surf, obviously EQ would kill me)
Suicune does even less, forgot to calculate it

252Atk Slowbro/Starmie/Milotic uses Surf: 130 damage (~46%)
Once again, Suicune does even less
So with no SpDef EVs, things like Milotic can 2hko Magnezone with Surf (and Milotic is faster, so it will kill my Magnezone before it can kill them). With the amount I gave, I can't be 2HKO'd by them unless they get lucky CH. Meanwhile, Magnezone can 2HKO any of them, even Milotic. Even Calm, MaxHP MaxSpDef Milotic is 2HKO'd, taking about 59% damage.
So, is this anything special, or no?
