After being away from pokemon for about 8 months, I started lurking here recently to update my knowledge. This team consists of fairly standard sets, with the exception of 1; Scizor. As the titel says, it's speshal, which does not imply it's special based. It's just odd ^^.
The main strategy is to have 3 walls/tanks, 2 (right-off-the-bat) offensive pokes, and 1 set-upper, which gives some sort of balance between steady defense and hard hitting offense. Here's the team at a glance;
+
1)
2)
Flygon (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Spd, 252 Attack, 4 HP
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Fire Blast
- U-turn
- Outrage
Leads, scouts, revenge kills if possible. Sandstorm resist, SR resist, and electric resist (~Slowking) is enough for it to earn its spot, I'd say.
Hippowdon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP/6 Atk/252 Def
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Slack Off
- Roar
- Earthquake
Does all the things I want a physical wall to do. The only downside to this thing is its lack of an ice move, which leaves him unable to hit flyers/levitaters. I chose the 252/252 spread because I think ice beam TTar isn't common enough to sacrifice some extra bulk. It can handle physical TTar well, except for Aqua Tail ones. Fortunately Machamp handles TTar decently.
Heatran (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 8 HP/248 Spd/252 SAtk
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Hidden Power [Grass]
- Dragon Pulse
Heatran is mainly here to absorb fire (and ice aimed at Hippowdown), while blazing the opponent to ashes. With Flash Fire activated it might 2HKO blissey, which pleases me immensely. HP Grass for Swamperts and other bulky waters.
Scizor (M) @ Salac Berry
Ability: Swarm
EVs: 6 HP/252 Atk/252 Spd
Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
- X-Scissor
- Brick Break
Still keeping this original set, unless the Sdef version is absolutely necessary.
Now, there are two good combinations to wall bulky waters, fight moves, special moves, and dish out some heavy physical damage. I prefer the first one for being a little more original, yet status will spread through my team like the plague =/
1)
Slowbro + CB Ttar *lacks status absorber*
Slowbro (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Own Tempo
EVs: 212 HP/44 Satk/252 Def
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Thunder Wave
- Slack Off
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Surf
Changed to Slowbro, for physical walling purposes. I like the fact that it adds status, provides a fight resist, and beats Gyarados. However, two major turndowns are its electric weak and the ever so prevalent pursuit on TTar/Scizor. I opted to leave ice beam out since Mence is crippled harshly by thunder wave.
Tyranitar (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 176 HP/252 Atk/80 Spd
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Earthquake
Heavy hitter and offers some special walling. Aqua tail is redundant due to Ttar being paired with Slowbro.
2)
Blissey + SD Celebi
Blissey (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 Def/40 SAtk/216 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Wish
- Protect
- Ice Beam
- Thunder Wave
Standard Wishbliss I suppose. Heatran, Flygon, and (the current) Scizor lack a recovery move, so Wish is greatly appreciated.
Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP/46 Atk/176 Def/36 Spd
Impish nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Recover
- Swords Dance
- Seed Bomb
- Zen Headbutt
Celebi walls fighting moves and Gyarados, while providing some physical offense. If I go for this, I might change Scizor into a generic CB Scizor. The speed Evs are to outspeed max speed jolly Ttar, while the rest provides some physical bulk.
Sorry for the long read, any and all (constructive) comments are appreciated ^^.
