Introduction
A second new RoA competition this year will be starting in a week: Major League RoA.
It will be a gens 1-5 OU league consisting of 4 conferences, groups of 11 players each (later going into playoffs). Each player in each group will play all others in the group once home and away, earning a point for each win, with tied battles not counting. Home is playing your selected tier and away is playing your opponent's selected tier (playing the same tier twice possibly). Each conference will have at least 2 players for each old gen OU tier, with gens 1-4 OU each having a conference with 3 home players. So players play 11 or 12 battles of their selected old gen tier and 8 or 9 of other old gen tiers. Conferences will also roughly correspond to time zones. Top ranked players from each conference will be seeded into the RoA Major League playoffs, consisting of semi-finals and finals, both best of 5.
Due to the type and limited size of the tournament, players will be approved to compete from the signups in Week 1. Two factors will be considered when approving players: primarily, a very good commitment to play tournament matches (i.e. it's rare for them to have dead games, activity awarded against them or be subbed out); secondarily, a good reputation for being fiercely competitive (i.e. they have good tournament results).
The tournament is planned to last a total of 6 weeks - 5 weeks for qualification and 1 week for playoffs. Players will play 2 opponents home and away each week in qualification, while in the playoffs players will take turns to pick tiers from gens 1-5 OU, the player with the highest seed picking first.
