Pending Make chat /commands count towards groupchat activity

If I'm doing some project that requires a lot of commands, I'll often use a groupchat for it, because regular chats usually scroll too quickly to be helpful, I don't want to clog up slower regular chats with accidental command misinputs (eg forgetting a slash), and pms have a small window. Having their use contribute to groupchat activity would be convenient to stop rooms from dying midway through, and it seems intuitive enough policy wise, since the room is still being used.

(For people following my command clarification project - this has been an issue in other past projects besides just that one)

The whole point of a groupchat is to chat as a group. If you're broadcasting commands, it makes sense to have that count towards activity, but it doesn't make sense for commands done for personal use to count. If you're doing a bunch of /ds commands that don't show up for anyone else in the chat, how is that contributing to chat activity?

A separate point of a groupchat is a personal use sandbox chatroom (like for using commands) without interfering with other rooms.

I and others have gotten lots of use from groupchats over the years for using it to test features like polls and tournaments without interfering with public rooms.

Making / commands count towards activity is valuable toward that purpose - use is still derived from the groupchat and its continued uptime.

My interpretation of the inactivity time limit is to prevent wasted resources on unused groupchats, and I see a groupchat used for heavy command use or testing purposes as one still being used as opposed to unused.

The upcoming (and actively being worked on) preact client will allow you to treat PMs as chat rooms, so they should be a visually big as chat rooms for this purpose and wont expire. Specifically you should be able to open a chat specifically for this purpose.
