I made this team for an attempt at the new metagame. Sure.. anyone can know sets and what a Pokemon is good at.. but not everyone can build a complete team. So here we go, lets see if I can get this team solid enough to start climbing some ladders. Or at least, hold their own. I'm currently aiming to get a team with 2 dragons.. so keep that in mind while you read this, and see what my team contains. [reason for 2 dragons, is other site leagues, etc] I know Sandstorm doesn't exactly do much for my team.. but with all the craze of it.. and weather teams.. i have to get dirty and use it as well. non-weather teams just.. don't succeed.. welcome to the new world of the pokemon metagame.. fuck.

Tyranitar (F) @ Chople Berry

Trait: Sand Stream

EVs: 252 HP / 28 Atk / 52 SAtk / 176 SDef
Sassy Nature (+SDef, -Spd)
- Crunch
- Fire Blast
- Stealth Rock
- Pursuit

Tyranitar lead. #1 lead in the game.. for probably the end of time. Went with this spread/nature so it can be more of a.. [switch weather if need to.. hit main leads].. lead. Has it caught anyone off-guard? Except for the ferrothorns.. not really.. as they usually go directly to a bug/fighter/levitator. which is fine with me.. SR is what the plan is. Wondering on whether or not this ev spread is solid enough to use.. seems like a spread out ev layout.. is a weak one, but maybe you can help me out on that.

Latias (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Dragon Pulse
- Substitute
- Recover
- Calm Mind

Dragon #1. Latias has been in a battle for positioning with Latios.. and i honestly dont know which to go with. Regardless, she is here to become a different look for the opponent to deal with, while still being [hopefully] a dangerous booster to deal major damage. I don't feel comfortable at all with my moveset, and honestly, HP Fire isn't as needed as it use to be.. but its all I could think of. My team has a problem with status, and Latias boosting without protection doesn't help that problem.

Jellicent (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 SAtk
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Scald
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Recover

Protect my dragons from the ice and etc. Taunt is now included to stop stall, as well as stop the status and healing that can annoy and destroy my team.. I think I'm considering Toxic over WoW.. as walls seem to be a bother.. and wisp just doesn't do enough.. fast enough. Although the physical attackers become a joke.. which is always welcomed. Should I look towards a new set/spread? New damage absorber poke? Let me know.

462.png

Magnezone @ Leftovers
Trait: Magnet Pull
EVs: 40 HP / 252 SAtk / 216 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Substitute
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Flash Cannon

This thing is just amazing. I'm a huge fan of it.. and it's a shame it only has access to only 1 hidden power.. aka, ice/fire/grass. but.. thank god it can trap those fucking Ferrothorn and Skarmory.. that ruin my life. Obvious dragon protection is needed.. Substitute is needed for the simple fact that it hids from the leech seeding ferro, and the WoWing walls. its been effective so far. Flash Cannon.. hasnt been used at all yet, but tyranitar/rock protection seems a good way to go. Honestly though, I see this thing becoming very very popular.

373.png

Salamence (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature (+Spd, -SDef)
- Dragon Dance
- Fire Blast
- Outrage
- Earthquake

My 2nd dragon. With Salamence, I can quickly come in on a few moves aimed at Magnezone or Tyranitar.. and hopefully DD on the switch, with an array of moves at my disposal. With the basic set and spread, Salamence should be able to intimidate a lot of pokemon it meets. Is Salamence still viable in this metagame? You tell me. But so far, he doesn't get that many chances anymore to do the danicing it once was able to.

472.png

Gliscor (M) @ Toxic Orb Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Ice Fang
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Protect

After some quality rates, I decided to switch Landorus to a Gliscor, as my team needed more stability while not losing the attack threat. Gliscor is generic in a few ways.. obvious orb, obvious nature, and always going to tank like a boss. I went with an Ice/Ground attack combo, to hopefully cover as much as i can with not losing my ability to wall and heal up. Protect over Taunt? I think so at least, I'll test the new version of my team out and see.

Honestly though, the big threats to my team so far.. are those Quagsire types, Grasses, the Starmies with good protection, and rain. But with this team being semi-fresh and new.. it's only the beginning.

- Energy Ball

stupidest shit ever.

Seriously though, replace it for taunt, so you're not total set-up bait.

Also, try running substitute on Latias over HP Fire to protect you from status and ease prediction as well as swapping your SpAtk EVs and your HP EVs, to add some more bulk. You might also want to run Skarmory or Bronzong over Landorus in order to prevent Excadrill destruction (sets from in the C&C analysis) as well as easing your ice weakness. Finally, if your having trouble scoring KOes with Salamence, why not try MixMence? This will help soften up the opponent's team for a Latias sweep later.

Nice team. Great and all. For now, I see 2 big weaknesses - Excadrill and LO Starmie.

None of your pokes have a chance of living (except Latias, but I think X-Scissor might 2HKO or OHKO with an SD up) To remedy this, I suggest switching Magnezone to a Gliscor. Gliscor has access to Taunt and shares great synergy with Jellicent. Though you would get 3 ice weaknesses, a healthy Jellicent gets the job done. The set is:
Gliscor @ Toxic Orb
Trait: Poison Heal
Nature: Impish
252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spe
- Taunt
- Swords Dance
- Ice Fang / Facade
- Earthquake

For LO Starmie, nothing outspeeds him, and everything takes massive damage or is KO'd. To make matter's worse, you don't have pursuit on TTar to quickly eliminate that threat. You can try Landorus as a Scarf as well.
You can change Fire Blast on ttar for pursuit since your magnezone already owns steels in his stead. Landy can just change his item to seal the deal.

Hey,

Decent team but it has plenty of problems with LO Excadrill and double dance Terrakion. Landorus seems to be the weak link, so the best option you have is trying out a Gliscor over it. Gliscor counters both Terrakion and Excadrill and provides your team with a physical tank and stall-breaker. It also absorbs status, which is a bonus. The set is Earthquake | Facade | Swords Dance | Taunt with EVs of 252 HP | 184 Defense | 72 Speed and an Impish nature. Facade is for solid neutral damage and good coverage, but Ice Fang can be used to 2HKO defensive Gliscor after an SD.

Maggy prefers Leftovers over Air Balloon. More often than not you will lose your Air Balloon to stuff like a Scizor Bullet Punch or Ferrothorn Power Whip, so Maggy really appreciates the longevity, especially when facing Iron Head Jirachi.

If you feel that Latias' EV spread is inefficient, consider maximising HP instead of Special Attack and replacing HP Fire with either Substitute or Refresh. Using Latias over Latios means that you need to take advantage of their differences, mainly Latias' extra bulk. The HP goes a long way in helping Latias set up, and it can even set up on a TTar's Pursuit. Sub and Refresh both help Latias combat status, but it's up to you whether you want Substitutes safety net or the ability to run through stall, especially Blissey. Latias also helps out with Starmie in a pinch, being able to shrug off an LO Ice Beam and do a lot of damage back with Dragon Pulse.

There are much better options for Jellicent than Energy Ball, consider Shadow Ball to combat Reuniclus or Taunt to make it an effective stall-breaker. Also as Fried Rhys said, TTar wants Pursuit to help out with your Starmie problem, it's up to you whether you want to replace Crunch or Superpower. I'd prefer to keep Crunch to hit Reuniclus harder, and most things that you would hit with Superpower outspeed and defeat Tar anyway.

Good luck!

Thank you for the rates and luck, I made all adjustments that I agree'd with and felt like it would greatly benefit my team[mainly everything]. Just have to test it out a little now. Of course, any glaring weaknesses can be brought up

It's amazing..even with such a huge variety of Pokemon to chose from, and the increase of possible threats this gen.. you hardly see them. I truly believe it will take a good year until the new metagame gets really rich in Pokemon choices, and people figure out other choices that can flourish.

Running salamence is not the best idea. Salamence will be severely damaged by Sandstorm and Life Orb, as well as opposing attacks. It can only attack like 4 times after SR damage, not counting opposing retailiating pokemon's attacks.

I still think the o-so-infamous Excadrill is the best option here. However, it's a great and kinda original team. Not running ferrothorn and Excadrill is an accomplishment.

Hi

This looks like a good, but I have some suggestions, small ones though but still.

You could try Charge Beam on Magnezone instead of Thunderbolt. You can easily set up on a trapped Steel type and with the power boost you can take down the next poke as well. If used correctly you should be able to get 2 kills with Magnezone. Also you can use a Modest nature on Magnezone instead, you don't outspeed anything noticeable and the extra special attack might come in handy.
And since you are using Magnezone to take down Steel types you could consider replacing Fire Blast on Salamence. Roost would be a good alternative to recover off Stealth Rock damage and Life Orb recoil. If you want you can also run Lum Berry on him so you won't get confusion hax from Outrage.
Lastly, you can put those 44 SAtk EV's on Jellicent in Spe so you can outspeed Scizor and burn him before he hits you. Jellicent wouldn't really mind the slight drop in offense.

Albeit not much, I hope this helped, good luck with your team.

Hi. Your team looks really good. Not much I can help with that the others haven't mentioned already other than for Jellicent, use WoW+Surf or Toxic+Scald. It's really bad when you use Scald and you miss the burn that you were hoping for, though.

I also second the use of Charge Beam Magnezone. It's easy to set up with it once you've trapped a steel and they can be very dangerous. That substitute really increases its longevity and ability to set up and sweep.

Some moveset changes:
- Get rid of fire blast on Ttar for superpower. You already have hp fire zone for Skarmory and Ferrothorn and no one really brings in Ferrothorn into Ttar now anyway. Superpower is really useful for other ttar (which Latias doesn't mind), Hydreigon, and if you don't need Ttar anymore you can stop Terrakion and Virizion from getting free setup. Then you can move the 52 spD evs into special defense.

- Taunt is usually better on Gliscor for an offensive team. This stops stallish stuff like eviolite pokemon from doing anything and makes Gliscor a better stallbreaker.

- Consider Lum > Life orb. Lum gives you alot more changes to sneak in a DD and also prevents makeshift stuff like Jirachi from stopping your sweep and instead makes them setup for a DD. It also stops priority t-wave from Thundurus and flame body Volcarona. Life orb + SS + SR will usually stop Mence from doing anything even if they have a no checks / counters.

Also I'd give Rotom-w a try over Jellicent. Thundurus and Tornadus combo for example will be able to break past ttar and sweep you with ease, which is very common on rain. Also Gliscor actually looks like it can really damage alot of your team after it gets a swords dance up. Jellicent isn't the best counter to it as scald won't OHKO and Gliscor can beat you with boosted earthquakes. It's not the biggest deal but since you aren't running spikes and you have Gliscor for stall it should be a good option just to test out. Bold WoW is the way to go with Rotom, but running trick / Wow + stabs with some Hp investment keeps Rotom pretty bulky if you want to run scarf and also screws over walls.
