[OVERVIEW]
Manectric acts as a sufficient revenge killer for more offensively inclined teams by providing momentum with Volt Switch and being relatively strong. It has access to Lightning Rod, providing an Electric immunity for teammates while simultaneously boosting Manectric's Special Attack stat. Access to Fire-type coverage in Overheat and Flamethrower is somewhat unique for an Electric-type, dealing super effective damage to Grass-types that resist or are immune to Thunderbolt such as Lilligant, Torterra, and Ferroseed. Manectric also has unique access to the move Switcheroo, which can situationally incapacitate a wall or tank. Manectric faces competition from Zebstrika, despite having a better Special Attack, because of Zebstrika's better Speed tier and access to Sap Sipper. Manectric also faces competition from Alolan Raichu with its unique dual STAB combination and superior Speed stat, although Manectric has Lightning Rod and Fire-type coverage and is not easily Pursuit trapped by Skuntank. Choice Scarf somewhat distinguishes itself from its competition, but it can leave Manectric as setup bait if locked into the wrong move and prevents Manectric from fully utilizing its coverage moves.

Moves
========
Thunderbolt is Manectric's strongest reliable STAB move, dealing solid neutral damage to threats like Primeape, Jynx, and Skuntank, as well as super effective damage to the likes of Qwilfish, Carracosta, Swanna, and Archeops. Volt Switch allows Manectric to pivot out against Pokemon it cannot adequately deal with, gaining momentum in the process. Overheat hits the Grass-types that resist Electric-type attacks such as Lilligant, Abomasnow, Ferroseed, and Shiftry. Hidden Power Grass hits Lanturn, Gastrodon, and Golem, three Pokemon Manectric otherwise can't touch. Switcheroo can incapacitate walls such as Audino, removing their usefulness for the remainder of the match.
Set Details
========
Maximum EVs in Special Attack allow Manectric to hit as hard as possible. A Timid nature, 252 Speed EVs, and a Choice Scarf enable Manectric to outspeed the majority of the metagame, including +1 Jynx and Lilligant, as well as +2 Carracosta. Lightning Rod allows Manectric to safely switch into predicted Electric-type attacks while simultaneously boosting its Special Attack by one stage.
Usage Tips
========
Choice Scarf Manectric is typically the main way to check faster foes for a team, as it is one of the fastest Choice Scarf users in the tier. Keeping Manectric around until mid- or late-game is most optimal for maximum cleaning potential. Manectric is pretty frail, so its usually advised to not directly switch it in unless on a resisted attack, on an Electric-type attack, or you are predicting the opponent to switch. Sets utilizing Switcheroo should be cautious to not switch items too early, as switching away its Choice Scarf too early in the match can mean Manectric is no longer able to revenge kill Pokemon like Archeops and Primeape. Try not to lock Manectric into Electric-type moves when the opponent still has Ground-types and Electric-immune Pokemon around. It is usually better to lock Manectric into a coverage move to prevent it from losing momentum. Manectric is a decent revenge killer, picking off weakened Pokemon such as Mesprit and Choice Scarf Primeape. Volt Switch should be used to pivot and gain momentum for your team while dealing chip damage at the same time.
Team Options
========
Manectric appreciates having another VoltTurn partner, such as Mesprit, Primeape, or Silvally-Fairy to help chip away at the opponent's Pokemon so another teammate can clean up late-game. Water- and Flying-types like Carracosta, Swanna, and Oriocrio-G appreciate the Electric-type immunity Manectric provides. In turn, Water-types deal super effective damage to the Ground-types Manectric is weak to, while Flying-types are immune to Ground-type attacks. Manectric appreciates teammates that set up Stealth Rock and Spikes, such as Mesprit and Ferroseed. With support from entry hazards, Manectric has an easier time chipping away at the opponent's Pokemon, especially Pokemon like Lanturn and Gastrodon, which it has a hard time wearing down. Qwilfish, Mesprit, and Archeops are three great examples of type synergy and hazard stacking. Grass-types like Lilligant and Ludicolo make good partners for Manectric, as they can switch into Ground-types that trouble Manectric. This is especially important if Manectric makes a misprediction and is locked into an Electric-type move against an opposing Ground-type. Pursuit trappers such as Skuntank and Liepard assist Manectric in removing troublesome checks, most notably Lanturn. Wallbreakers like Drampa also assist with wearing down Manectric's checks by severely denting them.

Other Options
=============
A Choice Specs set opens up opportunities for Manectric to be a decent wallbreaker. However, it still suffers from being easily taken advantage of, without being able to outspeed key threats. It is still outclassed by Pokemon such as Zebstrika and Alolan Raichu in this role. Flamethrower is 100% accurate and doesn't have any drawbacks, unlike Overheat. However, Flamethrower fails to revenge kill Pokemon such as +1 Lilligant. Life Orb may sound appealing to make use of Manectric's near-perfect coverage, but it wears Manectric down quickly. Thunder packs a lot more punch than Thunderbolt and Volt Switch but is not reliable and usually not a good move to lock into. Thunder, however, is a decent option on a rain team. Toxic nails Lanturn and Gastrodon on the switch but generally isn't worth running on Choice-item sets, as locking into a non-attacking move loses all momentum, and Hidden Power Grass hits them super effectively anyway. Hidden Power Ice hits Dragon-types such as Drampa and Alolan Exeggutor that Manectric otherwise would have a hard time combating against, but it leaves Manectric susceptible to Lanturn and Gastrodon.
Checks and Counters
===================
**Dragon-types**: Without Hidden Power Ice, Dragon-types easily beat Manectric one-on-one. Drampa resists all of Manectric's moves, while Alolan Exeggutor forces Manectric to use Overheat to hit it neutrally.
**Electric-immune Pokemon**: Motor Drive, Lightning Rod, and Volt Absorb, users such as Electivire, Zebstrika, Togedemaru, and Lanturn as well as Ground-type Pokemon such as Golem and Gastrodon all take advantage of Manectric Choice-locking itself into one of its STAB moves, killing all momentum for the Manectric user. Lanturn is especially good at this, as it resists Overheat and is at best 5HKOed by Hidden Power Grass. Most other Electric-type immunities have to be careful playing around Overheat and Hidden Power Grass.
**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Manectric has a hard time overcoming bulky Pokemon that invest in Special Defense, such as Clefairy, Audino, Musharna, Type: Null, and Assault Vest Magmortar, with the last two having access to reliable recovery. It can, however, cripple the former four for the remainder of the match by using Switcheroo to give them a Choice Scarf.
**Priority Moves**: Manectric's frailty leaves it susceptible to priority from the likes of Hitmonchan and Skuntank once weakened.
