:ss/Mantine:

Mantine's superb Special Defense and HP stats and access to utility moves such as Defog, Haze, and Roost make it a great wall on Water balance teams, taking on foes such as Volcarona, Hydreigon, and Hatterene. It can form a potent defensive core with Pokemon such as Swampert, Slowking, and Toxapex. Mantine's Flying typing provides a key neutrality to Grass as well as an immunity to Ground; this makes it effective against foes such as Swampert and Choice Scarf Excadrill locked into Earthquake, which its teammates appreciate. It's held back by its its 4x weakness to Electric, making it susceptible to Pokemon such as Victini and Nidoking that carry Electric-type coverage. Mantine's passivity also leads to a tremendous loss of momentum whenever it enters the field. Special wallbreakers such as Choice Specs Tapu Lele and Choice Specs Zapdos take advantage of this, being able to freely switch in on Mantine and release powerful attacks that can severely damage Mantine or its teammates.

Set Description
========
Scald prevents Mantine from being completely passive and prohibits physical attackers such as Dragonite and Dragapult from switching in recklessly, as they risk being burned. Haze prevents Mantine from becoming setup fodder, letting it reliably switch into and deal with setup sweepers like Keldeo, Hatterene, and Volcarona. Roost allows it to consistently wall foes such as Galarian Moltres and Volcarona and reliably clear entry hazards throughout the game. Mantine has enough Speed investment to outpace Adamant Azumarill, allowing it to use Haze before Azumarill attacks it.

Mantine enjoys the presence of Toxapex to take on physical attackers such as Dragapult and Mimikyu. In return, Mantine can check potent special attackers such as Choice Scarf Tapu Lele. Swampert is able to check Electric-types such as Regieleki and Zeraora while also being able to set Stealth Rock. Gastrodon is also an option in lieu of Swampert, as it is able to check prominent threats to Mantine's team such as Tapu Koko while also having reliable recovery. Slowking is able to switch into powerful Psychic-types like Latios and Choice Specs Tapu Lele, which can otherwise overpower Mantine. Urshifu-R and Keldeo also appreciate Mantine switching in on certain Psychic- and Fairy-type special attackers such as Tapu Lele and Hatterene that threaten them. In return, they can defeat foes such as Bisharp and Terrakion, respectively, for Mantine. Wallbreakers such as Crawdaunt and Tapu Fini appreciate Mantine's Defog, which allows them to enter the field safely to defeat walls that pressure Mantine such as Toxapex, Mandibuzz, and Chansey. Mantine also enjoys having Lanturn on its team, as it provides an Electric immunity and Heal Bell support while also taking on Choice Specs Zapdos more reliably and providing slow Volt Switch support to the team. However, it should be noted that Lanturn is primarily seen on stall teams. Setup sweepers such as Calm Mind Tapu Fini, Cloyster, and Suicune welcome Mantine's ability to remove Toxic Spikes, which jeopardize their ability to set up.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]

Other Options
=============

Toxic can be used over Haze; however, this makes Mantine setup fodder for foes that are either immune to Toxic or use Substitute, such as Spectrier. Mantine can also use Water Veil as an ability, preventing Spectrier from burning it.

Checks and Counters
===================
**Physical Wallbreakers**: Many physical attackers such as Choice Band Rillaboom and Bisharp can easily threaten Mantine with either an OHKO or severe damage due to Mantine's average Defense stat.

**Stallbreakers**: Many stallbreakers such as Tapu Fini and Mew prevent Mantine from using Defog and restoring health via Roost.

**Toxic**: Many common walls such as Mandibuzz and Toxapex can Toxic stall Mantine, as it normally doesn't run Toxic itself. Mandibuzz also has access to Taunt, letting it obstruct Mantine from healing off Toxic damage with Roost. Toxic also generally puts Mantine on a timer and prevents it from easily coming in and using Defog.

[OVERVIEW]

-> Mantine's superb Special Defence,(RC) and HP stat coupled with its ability to use fundamental and access to utility moves such as Defog and Roost allows Mantine to be a great special wall on Water teams. come one of Water's most outstanding special walls.
* Mention its Ability giving it opportunities to come in on Water types to remove entry hazards.
* I feel like mentioning the playstyle is important, it tells the reader that its not used on weather-based teams. More balanced Water teams. Mentioning that it synergizes well with a Swampert and Toxapex is also useful as well!

-> Mantine can also threaten incoming Physical Attackers physical attackers such as Bisharp, Dragapult, and Zarude with Scald Burns burns, precluding them from switching in freely.
-> Mantine can extend its longevity using Roost, allowing it to routinely remove hazards like Stealth Rock throughout a battle. Just keep this in the moves paragraph, you mentioned Roost in the beginning and I personally do not feel like its needed.
-> Mantine's Flying type permits it to provide a key neutrality to Grass, which its teammates appreciate.
-> It also grants Mantine a key immunity to Ground moves, which is important as Water has no Pokemon that resist Ground.
Can you merged these two points into one
-> Mantine is held back by its dependence on HDB to prevent it from taking Stealth Rock Damage, as well as its 4x weakness to Electric moves and its low defence stat, making it susceptible to Pokemon such as Kommo-o and Zeraora. I feel like HDB is actually amazing for Mantine. Looking at SM, its heavily pressured if anything to come in on Stealth Rock. It doesn't like its item being removed but that pretty much goes for all of its items? Just talk about its 4x Electric weakness and poor defense allowing physical attackers like Zeraora and abc to force it out.

- This Pokemon faces competition with Pelipper, make a sentence about that

The first four sentences start with "Mantine", well 4/5 of the sentences do, try to use some other words to make it less boring

rearrange in order of the moves.
-> Defog allows Mantine to remove entry hazards for its teammates, protecting them from taking chip damage over the course of a battle.
-> Haze prevents Mantine from becoming setup fodder for foes such as Dragonite, Hatterene, and Volcarona. Replace this with like Keldeo or Glastrier or something, +1 outrage to a non-phy wall sounds yikes
-> Scald prohibits opposing Physical Attackers(this does not need to be capitalized) such as Dragonite and Dragapult from switching in risklessly (recklessly?), as they may risk being burned.
-> Roost enable longevity for Mantinegives Mantine longevity, allowing it to consistantly(grammar) wall foes such as Choice Specs(choice specs is not a "foe". just say "wall special wallbreakers such as keldeo and something else. no need to say "foes") as well as provide Hazard removal throughout the battle. and use Defog.
(spacing)
-> Mantine has enough Speed Investment to outpace Adamant Azumarill, allowing Mantine to use Haze before Azumarill can annihilate Mantine's teammates.
-> The rest of Mantine's EVs were put into HP and Special Defence, making it as bulky as possible while reducing the damage taken from Stealth Rock should Mantine's item be removed.
-> Mantine's Calm nature further increases its ability to wall adverse Special Attackers such as Hatterene and Choice Specs Hydreigon.

-> Mantine's Attack IVs allow it to take less damage from Foul Play users such as Mandibuzz. Four points for EVs is excessive. Check the pins in the Monotype analysis-discussion channel by CyroGyro on tips for evs. Pretty sure this only needs 1-2 sentences.
-> Heavy-Duty Boots prevent Mantine from taking hazard damage, as it severely lessens Mantine's longevity. This goes before the EVs.

Team Options
========

- Relevant -> Irrelevant. Pex/Swampert should be at the beginning. Put the random niche stall mons at the VERY end of this paragraph.
- Say all teammates appreciates mantines defog support as 1st sentence. you can prob put the ground immunity here also.

-> Swampert is able to switch into many check Electric-types Electric-Type foes such as Regieleki and Zeraora, as it is immune to their only STAB move. Mantine also doesn't like rock-types or attacks in general. part ground typing is nice for resist
-> In return, Mantine is able to switch in to many Grass-Type pokemon such as Appletun and Celebi. What happens after Mantine switches into these Grass-types? Celebi nasty plots and attacks and keeps doing it , recovers burn by switching out. appletun is not a good example at all. idk prob just remove this point imo.
-> Mantine also enjoys having Lanturn on its team, as it are immune to Electric-Type moves and remove Status from Mantine via Heal Bell. something like "Lanturn can check special Electric-types like Alolan Raichu and Tapu Koko and remove status ailments from Mantine with Heal Bell." sounds better." You can probably merge the next sentence with this. Remove the Grass neutralities.
-> Mantine further supports Lanturn by providing a Ground immunity as well as a Grass Neutrality, which Lanturn appreciates.
-> Azumarill appreciates Mantine's ability to clear away hazards from the field.

-> In turn(grammar), Sap Sipper Azumarill takes pressure off Mantine as a Grass Neutrality, and can administer(?) a switchin to and trap foes such as Choiced Rillaboom and Ferrothorn. (rephrase this. idt you need to say "takes pressure off" just say what it does. its niche, doesn't need the fluff.)
-> Mantine greatly appriciates the presence of Toxapex to take on Physical Attackers such as Dragon Dance Dragapult, Ferrothorn, and Skarmory.
-> Toxapex also enjoys having Mantine on its team, as Mantine is immune to the Ground-Type moves that would otherwise threaten Toxapex and can also take Future Sight from Slowking-Galar. Talk about how they synergize. With the comment of ground immunity and support going in the first sentences, I don't feel like its needed to keep saying what mantine does. Talk about how pex deals with phy attackers like abc and how mantine does it for spa attackers. When I look at Skarmory and Ferrothorn, they run physical attacks yeah but both pex and mantine threatens it with scald burns already..id prefer another example.
-> Both often carry Haze, which allows a utility move to be used on either Pokemon.
-> Setup sweepers such as Calm Mind Primarina, Calm Mind Keldeo, and Bulk Up Urshifu welcome Mantine's ability to remove Toxic Spikes that would otherwise jeopardize their ability to set up.

* Slowking should have its own sentence at the beginning
* Tapu Fini should be mentioned. Primarina does not warrant a mention at all
* Bulk Up Urshifu-R is rare and it should have its own line or slap it in a line with Keldeo.
* Gastrodon should have a line after Swampert
* Mention Wallbreakers like Dracovish and Crawdaunt

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

-> Maximum Special Defence EVs can be used, but Mantine rarely needs them due to its outstanding natural bulk.
-> Toxic can be used over Haze, however this makes Mantine setup fodder.
You mention a lot of stall examples in your teammates and your OO section should reflect this also. Mantine doesn't like Spectrier at all, and once its status'd its over honestly. Mention Water Veil as anti-will-o-wisp.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Physical Attackers**: Many Physical Attackers can easily threaten Mantine with either an OHKO or severe damage due to Mantine's poor defence stat. examples. don't need to start this out with "many phy atks" either

**Stallbreakers**: Many stall breakers such as Tapu Fini prevent Mantine from defogging hazards away and restoring heath via Roost, forcing Mantine to rely on its weak recovery moves.

**Super Effective Moves**: Mantine is especially vulnerable to Super Effective moves, as Lycanroc-Dusk and Tapu Koko can easily OHKO Mantine with their Electric- and Rock- Type attacks. Elaborate and go in depth. Electric-types. Rock-types.

Make a section for Dragon-types and one for Grass-types.

**Walls*: As it doesn't run Toxic, Mantine loses against many common walls such as Mandibuzz and Toxapex, as they are able to Toxic stall it. Mandibuzz also has access to Taunt, obstructing Mantine from healing off Toxic damage with Roost.

While I was originally somwhat reluctant to include this portion, not all Pokémon rely heavily on items. For example, Toxapex doesn't need Black Sludge to be successful, and doesn't rely on it due to it's access to recover. In contrast, Mantine requires Heavy-Duty Boots in order to enter the field after Stealth Rock has been set.

- This Pokemon faces competition with Pelipper, make a sentence about that
Despite both having the same typing, I do not think Pelipper and Mantine share the same roles as Pelipper is often used as a defensive Rain setter, and Mantine is used on teams where a Ground immunity requires more utility. I feel this because Pelipper and Mantine's common teammates clearly show that they are not interchangale and usually appear on very different archtypes.
* Teammates that appear on Rain Teams are in Bold
Urshifu-Rapid-Strike 63.394%
Barraskewda 59.690%

Tapu Fini 55.778%
Dracovish 48.457%
Swampert 47.778%
Toxapex 45.446%
Crawdaunt 31.156%
Kingdra 24.373%
Seismitoad 20.594%
Slowking 17.230%

Lanturn 8.898%

*Teammates that appear on Stall are Bolded

Toxapex 95.463%
Slowking 70.666%
Slowbro 51.704%
Lanturn 51.158%
Quagsire 49.647%

Urshifu-Rapid-Strike 40.574%
Swampert 27.205%
Tapu Fini 20.547%
Rotom-Wash 17.226%
Dracovish 15.234%
Gastrodon 12.957%

Four points for EVs is excessive
The framework for the analysis mentions to explain why the nature is the way it is, and I think explaining the Bulk, Speed Investment, and IVs is also relevant to the analysis.

Mentioning that it synergizes well with a Swampert and Toxapex is also useful as well!
See teammates section

Elaborate and go in depth. Electric-types. Rock-types.
I don't know what this means, could you rephrase it? I've already listed examples of Electric-Types and Rock-Types that beat Mantine, so I'm unsure of what you're suggsting.

Make a section for Dragon-types and one for Grass-types.
Mantine isn't really trying to damage them, and it walls Special Attackers on both types such as Celebi (if given a free switch) and Latios, as one will be unable to set up due to haze and the other will just have their Special Attack Dropped due to Draco Meteor.

* Mention Wallbreakers like Dracovish and Crawdaunt
Not common teammates generally. This especially applies to Crawdaunt.

* Bulk Up Urshifu-R is rare and it should have its own line or slap it in a line with Keldeo.
This is wrong, as 26.713% of Urshifu run Bulk Up according to the latest usage stats.

You can probably merge the next sentence with this.
Would rather do this after the writing phase because it helps to keep my points organized incase I missed somthing.

rearrange in order of the moves.
Requesting further explanation.

-> Both often carry Haze, which allows a utility move to be used on either Pokemon.
Requesting a reason for this, as Toxapex both Toxapex and Mantine would both enjoy to have an extra moveslot free.

* Gastrodon should have a line after Swampert
Both of these are less common then Quagsire, and Gastrodon doesn't meet the 16.45% standard of usage I usually vaugly follow when writing analysis, thus it wasn't mentioned.

Will add Slowking, include Primarina, Water Veil, and implement Grammatical Corrections.

I feel this because Pelipper and Mantine's common teammates clearly show that they are not interchangale and usually appear on very different archtypes.
I feel like Pelipper being in the tier does bring Mantine usage down a lot on Water teams. The ssnl stats sheets shows that Pelipper was on 98 Water teams and Mantine was only on 26. Its also used more on Flying teams because the Water Absorb is really nice for Pokemon like Urshifu-R. I also feel like they do share similar teammates actually like Slowking, Urshifu-R, Toxapex, and Swampert. If you look at some official tournament usage stats and replays as opposed to stall on ladder, you will see balanced being the more relevant playstyle for Mantine teams. Stall has had an appearance in MLT from the likes of zugubu royale and Dugza but official tournament play? or even the casual seasonal game idts which is why I feel like some of those C ranked Pokemon should be near the end of your teammates also. In terms of playstyles I agree somewhat but the 98 vs 26 number between the two Pokemon clearly shows that Pelipper is the better Water / Flying due to its pivot in u-turn and rain. You lose a lot of momentum when using Mantine also.

I don't know what this means, could you rephrase it? I've already listed examples of Electric-Types and Rock-Types that beat Mantine, so I'm unsure of what you're suggsting.
Well you listed Lycanrock-Dusk when stuff like Terrakion and Nihilego are higher on the VR. Electric-types like xyz beats mantine with their stab. Rock-types like abc can ohko mantine with their stab also but fears switching in risking Scald burn..this is only like two bulletpoints for "Rock-types" and "Electric-types" . Nihilego also has high spd and can switch into its scald
Mantine isn't really trying to damage them, and it walls Special Attackers on both types such as Celebi (if given a free switch) and Latios, as one will be unable to set up due to haze and the other will just have their Special Attack Dropped due to Draco Meteor.
Mantine literally does nothing to celebi and zarude and rillaboom (more relevant and higher on the vr), gets toxic'd by cradily. Mantine barely does anything to Dragon-types especially with toxic in oo...it prevents set up but like Hydreigon for examples sets up Nasty Plot and literally fishes for flinches. Substitute avoids status and Roost just recovers the burn damage off. Dragapult clicks Substitute, avoids burn, and clicks dd+darts
If you look at some of the team tour replays, you will notice some thunder punch urshifu-r's, which is really great so you can hit water-types like Pelipper, Mantine, and Tapu Fini. Just specifying "Bulk Up" Urshifu puts a lot of emphasis to me over its other sets
Requesting further explanation.
I put scald first as precedent in the last mantine sm analysis
Requesting a reason for this, as Toxapex both Toxapex and Mantine would both enjoy to have an extra moveslot free.
myb i meant to italitcs and highlight blue + comment, gp will prob rephrase to smthn simple
Both of these are less common then Quagsire, and Gastrodon doesn't meet the 16.45% standard of usage I usually vaugly follow when writing analysis, thus it wasn't mentioned.
Gastrodon and Swampert has higher usage in actual smogon tournaments with Mantine. Its usable on stall but I don't feel like the direct thing should be a stall analysis. If Appletun is getting like 97% usage on ladder for grass but in tourplay its getting none because cradily is better, then cradily should be mentioned first & appletun should be at the end or not mentioned at all (More -> Less relevant)

I also feel like they do share similar teammates actually like Slowking, Urshifu-R, Toxapex, and Swampert.
I understand where you're coming from, however I feel that usage stats are more reliable then Tournament play, especially since the people that are new to the tier and are learning Monotype are likley to start on ladder.
Mantine literally does nothing to celebi and zarude and rillaboom (more relevant and higher on the vr), gets toxic'd by cradily.
Mantine isn't trying to damage Rillaboom and Zarude. If you're clicking Scald against either of them, its in hopes that you'll burn them. As for Celebi, Azumarill has the potential to Trap it with whirlpool and eliminate it with Perish Song while using Rest for (abeit unreliable) Recovery.
Hydreigon for examples sets up Nasty Plot and literally fishes for flinches. Substitute avoids status and Roost just recovers the burn damage off. Dragapult clicks Substitute, avoids burn, and clicks dd+darts
Which is why I mentioned Primarina as a teammate. Substitute Calm Mind Primarina is an answer to Hydreigon and Dragapult.

Gastrodon and Swampert has higher usage in actual smogon tournaments with Mantine.
In addition to the reasons I stated above, ladder offers a greater sample size.

Just specifying "Bulk Up" Urshifu puts a lot of emphasis to me over its other sets
Pokémon that set up are especially vulnerable to Toxic.
hese two points can surely be merged or said in lesser words
As I have previously stated, I created these as two sentences to make it easier for QC to check the analysis and to ensure I've covered the points nessesary to make a good analysis.
98 vs 26 number between the two Pokemon clearly shows that Pelipper is the better Water / Flying due to its pivot in u-turn and rain. You lose a lot of momentum when using Mantine also.
This is why Most of Mantine's teammates are common on stall. On a stall team, Mantine is better then Pelipper due to its greater bulk and the fact that stall doesn't need the weather that rain does.

(rephrase this. idt you need to say "takes pressure off" just say what it does. its niche, doesn't need the fluff. Move this and the Lanturn mention to the end and make sure to say these are primarily seen on stall teams only.)

-> Maximum Special Defence EVs can be used, but Mantine rarely needs them due to its outstanding natural bulk.
-> Toxic can be used over Haze, however this makes Mantine setup fodder. [This only applies to setup Pokemon that are immune to Toxic so make sure to say that and give examples of such Pokemon.]
You mention a lot of stall examples in your teammates and your OO section should reflect this also. Mantine doesn't like Spectrier at all, and once its status'd its over honestly. Mention Water Veil as anti-will-o-wisp.
Checks and Counters
===================

**Physical Attackers Wallbreakers**: Many Physical Attackers can easily threaten Mantine with either an OHKO or severe damage due to Mantine's poor average defence Defense stat. [Change this to 'Physical Wallbreakers' and change the sentence accordingly and include examples of such wallbreakers.]

**Stallbreakers**: Many stall breakers such as Tapu Fini and Mew prevent Mantine from defogging hazards away and restoring health via Roost, forcing Mantine to rely on its weak recovery moves. [Weak recovery moves? Not sure what you mean here, rephrase.]

**Super Effective Moves**: Mantine is especially vulnerable to Super Effective moves, as Lycanroc-Dusk and Tapu Koko can easily OHKO Mantine with their Electric- and Rock- Type attacks.

Split the 'Super Effective Moves' into 'Electric-types' and 'Rock-types' as two different categories.

**Walls*: As it doesn't run Toxic, Mantine loses against many common walls such as Mandibuzz and Toxapex, as they are able to Toxic stall it. Mandibuzz also has access to Taunt, obstructing Mantine from healing off Toxic damage with Roost.

Made a few changes to Roxiee's AM check, please implement this check and I'll take another look before I stamp it. Also there were a bunch of places where you had capitalized unnecessarily and a bunch of spelling errors so please thoroughly go through the Spelling and Grammar Standards. Tag me when this is implemented.

-> Mantine's superb Special Defence and HP stat and access to utility moves such as Defog, Haze, and Roost allows Mantine to be a great wall on Water teams.
-> These abilities allow it to become one of the best [Wouldn't say "best" here since the best part only applies to Stall teams, rephrase to decent/good] walls on Balance and Stall teams. [Add that it can also form a decent defensive core on balanced teams with Toxapex, Slowking, Swampert etc.]
-> Mantine's Flying type permits it to provide a key neutrality to Grass as well as an immunity to Ground moves, which its teammates appreciate.
-> It's held back by its dependence on Heavy-Duty Boots [This was mentioned in the previous check, HDB is actually a positive, it shouldn't be mentioned like its a bad thing, just remove that part and keep the Electric-type weakness part only, in this sentence.] to prevent it from taking Stealth Rock Damage, as well as its 4x weakness to Electric moves and its low defence stat, making it susceptible to Pokemon such as and Zeraora. Sorry about this but I still can't stamp 1/2 for this, a fair amount of changes from my first check were not implemented, please pay more attention when implementing a check and make sure everything is implemented this time. Edit the title to QC 0/2 and tag me once all these are implemented and I'll take another look, again. As I mentioned before, go through the Spelling and Grammar Standards please, there's a lot of GP errors here and there.

**Toxic**: Many common walls such as Mandibuzz and Toxapex can Toxic stall Mantine, as it normally doesn't run Toxic itself. Mandibuzz also has access to Taunt, letting it obstruct Mantine from healing off Toxic damage with Roost. Toxic also generally puts Mantine on a timer and prevents it from easily coming in and Defogging using Defog.
