Mawile

^This

I like this set because so many people have no idea what to do with Mawile. My only suggestion is slashing Iron Head with Swagger so you aren't Taunt bait, otherwise someone could Taunt you, switch, and start setting up on Mawile. This way, you have a way of keeping some offensive presence.

I would also use Hyper Cutter over Intimidate, or Encourage if you go with Iron Head. The reason is that Intimidate gives away the fact that Mawile is using a defensive set.

It's too bad Mawile's stats are awful, it has the right movepool to succeed and its cute, too. Gamefreak, y u no give Mawile good stats?

I'm going to say I ran a Mawile similar to his set and it ended up turning out pretty good, scoring at least 1 if not 2 kills per game.

I. Love. To. Use. CB Sheer Force Mawile. I have fire fane, ice fang, iron head, and sucker punch.

Mawile is an amazing little girl with a mutation growth spurt thing. Remember how good nidoking got with DW? With his 85 spatk turned into the azelf 125? Same thing with mawile. 125 attack is nothing to scoff at. Sure, its attacks have less base powet then nidos, but it still manages to get around.

Mawile is one of the Pokemon that's falls under the category "Needs-to-evolve", along with Corsola (and Farfetch'd, to some extent). Hopefully Gamefreaks doesn't keep us waiting for too long and gives us some new evolutions like for Tangela and Lickitung; it is too awesome to pass up. In the moment Nidoking's sheer force outclasses any sheer force set, even physical ones. In RU there is still Tauros, whose movepool and special stat isn't much different, but come along with more speed and strengh.

Until then we should make the best of what we get. An uninvested Fire Blast does more damage than Fire Fang 252 +nature. If you don't mind the accuracy drop you can use the stronger and more accurate Ice Punch from Dream World instead (I try to find one so badly, uh).

Mawile @ Life Orb
Trait: Sheer Force
EVs: 192 HP / 252 Atk / 56 Def / 8 SAtk
Brave Nature (+Atk, -Spd)
- Iron Head
- Ice Punch
- Fire Blast
- Rock Slide/Substitute

Brave nature and the 8 is necessary to OHKO 252/0 Scizor. It isn't much of a loss because you won't outspeed anything important anyway. besides it's the only way to 2HKO Skarmory. Rock Slide has a chance to OHKO timid 252/252 Volcarona and Ice Punch OHKOs Dragonite with Multiscale broken. Unfortunately in most cases you have to catch them switching in, or facing someone who thick they can setup on Mawile. I doubt it will happen often. Substitute can help scouting but due its low bulk it won't force out something anytime (standart Ferrothan can't break its subs, at least).

Mawile @ Focus Sash Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Super Fang
- Pain Split
- Protect
- Sucker Punch

This set is one of my sneaky Favorites...I call it a bit of an anti-lead since you could drain health and hurt your foe too. Not fully sure how you might like it but I feel it work well.

So I have used a focus punching Mawile to amazing perfection. It's kind of gimmicky but it is working for me. Especially in NU when many people send out their magneton to trap me only to get focus punched in the face. I even user focus punching Mawile in ou and it has won me many battles. Don't hate it til you try it.
My set is
Substitute
Focus Punch
Iron Head
Sucker punch

When using intimidate Mawile forces many switches because the steel typing gives him 12 resists plus a -1 attack stat any physical attacker with a lack of a fire fighting or ground move usually ends up having to switch. I get up a free sub. Focus punch being an 150 power move still rips huge chunks of health out of pokemon even with Mawile's less then stellar attack stat. Iron head for stab and sucker punch completes the great fighting/dark coverage as well as making up for mawile's awful speed. Also if you have already revealed sucker punch it may prevent an opponent from using an attacking move only to get another sub up and focus punched, and if you are behind a sub you are almost certain to hit another focus punch or sucker punch. Not even klinklang's gear grind or any of cincinno's moves can break the sub so you wont take any damage behind a sub!

His special attack can barely stand resisted hits so he is mainly left to hitting things on the switch since he won't outspeed anything useful. He can still hit hard now with sheer force, thats a good upgrade but he's only uu at best

Ev spread fix.

Hi... I probably shouldn't do the old.. post 2 months later routine... but I was looking at the 3rd ev spread on the writers analysis and it is an inefficient use of evs (pet peeve of mine). The ev spread of 252 HP 96 Atk and 160 Def yields entirely better stats in both attack and defense and on par in all other stats. Just remember to always use a nature that boosts the highest stat (in this case they are equal base stats) which is defense because you invested more in it.
I would probably recommend 252/4/252 anyway because it's attack is still not going to be revenge killing anything... (like literally, this thing can't 1HKO 4/0 Alakazam with sucker punch even with 100 atk evs 84.1% - 99.2%)
