After Alurani goes down from her valliant effort Maxim quickly replaces her with another worthy combatant. This time it is the fiery bug, Nora the Larvesta. Worried about what Crackers might have in store for her, Nora begins by making a substantial Substitute to sheild her for the time being. The doll isn't called into action immediately though, because Crackers' paralysis acts up again and he is only able to stand still and waste this action. Nora sees the chance to strike, and the RNG further trolls poor DA by making her Psychic attack a critical hit! The Machop's own substitute is still standing after the attack, but not by much. Crackers responds with his pet attack, but unfortunately the usually menacing Dynamicpunch is not very effective against Nora, and it isn't able to confuse her behind the substitute either. Just to piss off Crackers even more the doll that he hit retained Nora's Flame Body and left him burned. On the plus side his Guts makes him immune to the usual attack drop that comes with it. Nora spends her last action Hardening her body against future punches, while Crackers concedes this may not be his round and just Chills Out to prepare for the future stages of this already long battle.

Nora: Dang it! I hate this guy.

Maxim: Don't worry, we've got him right where we want him. Let's stop joking around though. Let's start with an Ember attack to break that sub, then, once rock slide breaks your substitute, create a 15 HP Sub to ward off dynamic punch, then finish off with a powerful Psychic.

Maxim: If your substitute doesn't break during the first rock slide, then swap positions with Psychic and the 15 HP sub (i.e. Ember~Psychic~Sub)

Nora: I suppose that will work, but I don't know.

We rejoin this battle after a short intermission, and it is all still very tightly poised with neither of the active combatants holding a large advantage. Nora knows that her first priority is getting rid of Crackers' Substitute, and given it's relatively weak state she is able to do so with a simple Ember attack. Crackers is in no such mood to mess about, and aims at Nora with what is sure to be a devastating Rock Slide. The move would have done some huge damage, but unfortunately for him he is only able to kill another Substitute. Feeling a little naked without a doll in front of her, Nora acts swiftly to construct another one. This is only a smaller one though, to conserve both health and energy no doubt. Meanwhile Crackers is still ruing his paralysis even in its dying stages. Luckily he will be completely over it by the end of this round. Nora ends the round by finally dealing some damage, and a healthy amount at that thanks to Crackers weakness to the Psychic attack. The fighting type then stares the yet another substitute he is faced with down, and unleashes another Rock Slide that he aimed just right so that it hit critically. Once again the damage would have been catastrophic if not for the doll being all he could kill. Man if he lands one of those it is going to hurt.

Maxim: Ew, thanks to Guts that rock slide is doing INSANE damage.

Nora: Curses.

Maxim: Well, he is running low on energy, too bad we don't have taunt...

Well it looks like this round could be the one of pain. Nora starts by unleashing yet another Psychic attack that continues to hit Crackers hard. Its nothing compared to the Rock Slide from the Machop that finally hits, doing immense damage. Nora doesn't want to take two of those in a row, and rushes to create a Procective barrier. Crackers does indeed chuck another Rock Slide and while this one simply crashes into the shield. It does take an awful lot of energy for Nora to maintain the integrity of the Protect, but her energy woes are nothing compared to that of Crackers. Nora lines up for some more damage for the final action with yet another Psychic. Her damage again pales in comparison to the oponent, as this Rock Slide hits critically once again and knocks Nora out. Unfortunately the act also used up the last of Crackers' energy and he also faints.

That leaves both trainers having to send out their last Pokemon, and thanks to Saria's Spikes Genbu the Tirtouga's disadvantage is compounded. Diagnos the Privatyke is certainly licking his lips now.

Exactly as I planned it, aside from the hax.

Anyway, let's start with an Arm Thrust before he goes into the water, as you're faster and evasive diving shouldn't work, then use Bulk Up while he's preparing to attack, then finish off with an Earthquake. If for some reason evasive diving does work, try a 20 HP Substitute.

We begin the final face off in this battle with a very timid Genbu trying her best to avoid damage at all costs. Unfortunately her lack of speed means she can't get away from Diagnos' first Arm Thurst, but thanks to the attack only hitting 3 times and Genbu's combination of two of the best defensive abilities around, the damage is only minor. Nevertheless DarkAmber persists with his strategy, commanding Genbu to Dive and hide in the arena's water pool. While the prehistoric turtle stays underwater, Diagnos Bulks Up both his offences and defences. The move lessens the hit from the attack when Genbu emerges from underwater but it still ends up doing more than the Privatyke's first move. Still taking no chances, Genbu uses an unusual fit of speed to set up a Protective barrier. The shield is so well made in fact, that it is able to protect Genbu from the Earthquake that otherwise shakes the entire arena. I'm not sure if Genbu and DarkAmber shouldn't change their tactic though, between her strong defences and great abilities this matchup may not be as bad as they think.

Genbu's combination of two of the best defensive abilities around

Oh brilliant.

Hmm, let's start with a drain punch to recover some health, then Wrap the turtle, then finish off with a close up Drain Punch. If Protect is used to avoid the second Drain Punch, use Bulk Up on that action instead.

Genbu, knowing the types are well against her here, decides to turn Diagnos' own damage against her by Biding everything she will be the victim of for the next two actions. Typically unaware of this the Privatyke carries on with a Drain Punch. The move has a twofold effect in also regaining a little HP for himself. This comes at a rather steep energy cost though. While Genbu continues to bide away Diagnos Wraps one of his tentacles around her hard shell, but the move doesn't do much damage. This might just act in Maxim's favour, because when Genbu finally releases her Bide attack the damage isn't as high as it might have been. Diagnos finishes the round off by using his free right hand/arm/slimey thing to hit another Drain Punch. He ends the round having pegged back a lot of the Bide damage, and still wrapped around the Tirtouga.

Neither player is going to allow this 13th round to be unlucky for them, with some very safe and dare I say boring play. Genbu uses the whole round up with a Bide attack once again, and seeing this Diagnos shies away from attacking and instead Bulks Up three times. He's pretty bulky now but it came at a fairly substantial energy cost. That may not have been so well thought out. In the end Genbu only releases the minimal damage she received from the remnants of Wrap, and we ready ourselves for another, hopefully more exciting roudn.

We kick into the very deep stages of this battle with another strange round of battling from two no dount weary trainers. Genbu gains an unholy amount of speed in putting up a Protective barrier for herself, which seems a good plan because now Diagnos' Drain Punch is able to hit nothing but shimmering air. The move ends in a high energy cost for both Pokemon, but crucially the healing effects of the Privatyke's move was prevented. The next action is where it gets weird however, as a confused Genbu does what any obedient Pokemon should and wastes the action attempting to conjure another Protect despite the fact she knew it was going to fail. This allows Diagnos to strike with three swift Arm Thrusts, whose damage is greatly boosted by his unusually high bulk. Unfortunately for Genbu her actions for the final portion of the round are equally as usless, as she was for some reason ordered to Protect against Diagnos' Chilling Out. The meaningless enterprise leaves Genbu hanging by a thread in both the energy and health stakes. It certainly looks like the next round could be our last unless the prehistoric turtle is able to pull something amazing out.
