SM OU Medicham+Ash Gren Balanced

Because Medicham-Mega is one of the megas that I enjoy playing with, I decided to build a team around him.

medi.jpg

Medicham-Mega @ Medichamite
Ability: Telepathy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- High Jump Kick
- Fake Out
- Bullet Punch
- Zen Headbutt

·Yes, it's the last gen set, but I really like it, because it gives me some strong priority (which I really appreciate). Most of the people deosn't expect this set. It's self explanatory, Fake Out+Bullet Punch can be ued as a way of revenge killing, as HJK so wallbreak and Zen to kill stuff like Toxapex.

grenigga.jpg

Greninja-Ash @ Choice Specs
Ability: Battle Bond
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Water Shuriken
- U-turn

·Standard Ash-Gren set. Sometimes I would like to run Surf, but it really need the extra power given by Hydro. I always prefered U-turn over Spikes in order to keep the momentum. Nothing new.

setusio.jpg

Amoonguss @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 74 Def / 78 SpA / 100 SpD
Sassy Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Stomping Tantrum

·One set that I really like and gives some real troubles. The given EV's are used to 2hKO Heatran after rocks, to resist 2 Dark Pulse from specs Ash Ninja, so you'll have 2 chances to kill it with Giga Drain (if weakened), HP fire to win VS Ferro, and it doesn't get 2hKO from Magma Storm from SPdef Tran. The 74 in defense because it was the rest, so it helps against Scizor.

hotran.jpg

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 220 SpD / 40 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Protect
- Stealth Rock

·Standard SPdef Tran. I wanted rocks and covers great with Amoonguss. I hate missing Storm, so I put Lava lume.

eltonto.jpg

Landorus-Therian @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 196 Def / 24 SpD / 40 Spe
Impish Nature
- U-turn
- Defog
- Fly
- Earthquake

·The most spammable mon in OU, and that's because IT REALLY DOES EVERYTHING! He defogs, intimidates, gives momentum, counters 1000 pokes and has Quake. Nothing more to say.

chixi.png

Jirachi @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Healing Wish
- Fire Punch

·And finally, Jirachi. I put it in the team because my defensive mons don't have actually a way to recover, so if needed I can scarifice this. It wins battles by flinching, and gives momentum. I'm in doubt between keeping Fire Punch or change it to Ice Punch so I have a way to kill Zygarde and Chomp.

I'm opened to suggestions, so feel free to use the team and say some ideas!

Biggest point is why does it say your mega-medicham has telepathy and not pure power. I think Jirachi is a little weird on your team when something like celesteela exists. Ice punch I would change if you keep Jirachi. These are all quick notes since I haven't had time to fully review because I need to go. AV amoongus is something I've never liked but it gives you a grass pivot I guess.

Since you have Heatran I would suggest the DISGUSTING CORE that is Bulu+Heatran instead of amoongus
A leech seed heavy slam celesteela instead of Jirachi as a bulky pivot
Pure Power Mega-Medicham

I think steela learns defog which is nice because its not a good lando-t set if it is forced to run rocks and or defog because its only claim to bulk is intimidate+base 85 physical defence

Also with greninja I would replace hydro-pump with ice beam, more reliable and extra ice coverage for those garchomps, latios's, and zygarde because of the missing ice puncher

Felixx

I'm back.

Steela does not learn Defog and Telepathy M-Medi dosen't matter because it gets Pure Power as a Mega Ability. An Ash-Greninja without Hydro Pump is an awful idea. If anything I'd run Spikes over U-turn and keep everything else. I also don't understand how running SR/Defog on Lando is a bad idea, those are the exact reasons you use it, because it has good role compression while checking many threats, and its bulk is completely fine. Get your facts straight before rating a team.

Hello MoreThanPokemon! Interesting team u have there :} I really like Mega-Medicham ATM in the current metagame and i really like the concept of your team, however there are some changes i would like to make to improve the overall effectiveness of your team.

Main Changes

Mega Medicham.png

Bullet Punch Mega Medicham isn't really that optimal in today's meta-game as Mega Diancie is really rare and i feel like
Ice Punch is mandatory to hit prevelent mons such as Lando.

Greninja.png
>
Torn.png

I feel like Tornadus is a better fit as it gives us hazard removal, Speed control,While also giving us a pivot with U-turn to bring Mega Medicham in VS bulky steel types such as Magearna, Toxic is for Zapdos which somewhat annoys the build.

moon.png
>
Bulu.png

Tapu Bulu is a better option on this team over Amoongus as your team is really threatened by Zygarde and Lando gets worn down quite easily.
Tapu Bulu still provides us a solid special sponge while giving us a crucial Water & Dark resist. Megahorn lures & checks Mega Latios which is amazing for Mega Medicham

tran.png

I made Heatran Firium-Z to pressure stall builds & if u lure & successfully knock out Mega Sableye Mega Medicham becomes a huge threat to a lot of bulkier type builds.

Lando.png
>
chomp.png

Tank chomp fits better here over Landorus in my opinion as it gives us a Heatran switch-in while also providing us with a way of beating threats such as Pinsir by putting it in range of Scarf Jirachi Iron Head while also giving us Stealth Rock.

Hi! Thanks to replying and giving me some advices, I'll try it!

If anything I'd run Spikes over U-turn and keep everything else. First and foremost I said I guess about steela getting defog and had to go so I couldn't check.

I was confused why it said telepathy since normal medicham also gets pure power and in the article where it said mega-medicham said it was already as a mega with telepathy so I was thrown off a bit so sorry about that.

Also I would respect you opinion on Lando if it was right. :P. Mostly kidding, I run scarf Lando-T every time. To me using it for rocks or defog(Definitely not both) is the same as having sash bisharp set rocks. I'd rather use a mandibuzz or something more reliably bulky to defog or something like donphan with sturdy to spin. Or use a forretress or claydol slave for both hazards and removal and foretresses only weakness is fire i believe(could be wrong but i dont want to bother googling it).

I'm a more offensive player btw hence the whole lando-t thing.

And for ash-greninja I just play more for coverage and a greninja without ice beam is almost unheard of to me. I rarely see hydro pump on something like greninja. I would keep u-turn for momentum and dark pulse is stab but ice beam has to fit somewhere because if your only coverage is ice punch on scarf jirachi (who prefers iron head spam) I'm struggling to see where the zygarde, gliscor, garchomp, or general AV slash specially bulky dragon or even bird(Mandibuzz again) is hit for major super-effective damage. Personally i'd get rid of hydro pump for ice beam but thats just me as I love ice types because they are so cool :D

Also you never mentioned anything about replacing Amoongus with Bulu and I'm honestly interested about what you think of it.

Also not sure why amoongus has stomping tantrum............I never use amoongus in general so as far as I know its amazing but hey

Also you said in your reply "Get your facts straight before rating a team." which is a tad aggressive there since you obviously can't project real emotion through text just for your future reference

It’s pretty much always a terrible idea to theorymon when rating, as the goal of rating is to improve the team. This means you have either tested or played with the changes you made.
Also, I apologize in advance, but I’m going to have to be blunt here to get the point across. The fact that you brought up Lando with Rocks or Defog as unviable, shitmons like Foretress, Claydol and Mandibuzz, and Ash Greninja without Hydro Pump shows you lack basic meta knowledge to do activities like this. I would highly recommend lurking in the fourms before attempting to engage in activities such as this.

Wow. Okay well I don't want to get blocked or something for strong language just jeeze man. Maybe say this in a conversation?? While I am low in the ranking(1150 and mostly because I'm still generally new and I enjoy using theme based teams. The non-comp but fun teams. As a result I often use lower tier mons and I was just spitballing here and why I am lower in rank) Also, unlike most people here, I have a life outside of competitive pokemon and being on the forums and I can't sit down and play test with every team people post.

Just because I don't use a physical sweeper and popular z-crystal user as my set up and hazard clearing slave doesn't mean that I lack the knowledge of how to play.

Just because I choose coverage over power on ash-greninja, again doesn't mean I lack knowledge of how to play.

His team as posted lacks ice coverage besides ice punch on scarf Jirachi who prefers clicking iron head and flinch spamming. He was questioning getting rid of ice punch for fire punch even. That would leave him without ice coverage for other Landorus-Therians or threats like Sub D-Dance Zygarde, Garchomp,

I feel your time might be better spent following your own suggestions of testing than taking the time out of your day to publicly shame me. As a general idea could you maybe say these comments in a conversation as it doesn't help the author.

Also why is everyone ignoring the amoongus
