[OVERVIEW]

Mega Abomasnow's great Attack and Special Attack stats and powerful STAB attacks in Blizzard and Wood Hammer alongside coverage moves like Focus Blast and Earthquake make it an effective wallbreaker. Mega Abomasnow also enjoys switching into common walls in the tier like certain variants of Xatu, Vaporeon, and Seismitoad. Soundproof prior to Mega Evolution also helps the matchup against the likes of Heliolisk and Vikavolt by giving an immunity to what would otherwise be highly damaging STAB moves. However, a poor Speed stat and a vulnerability to entry hazard damage make it rather easy to wear down and revenge kill. Even Xatu and the Water-types it can supposedly switch into threaten it in one way or another, be it Toxic from Xatu or Vaporeon or Fire-type coverage from Slowbro. Lastly, it faces competition with other breakers like Alolan Exeggutor and Mega Glalie that are overall faster and more powerful.

Moves
========

Blizzard is Mega Abomasnow's go-to choice for an attacking move, as it has plenty of power and perfect accuracy under hail. Giga Drain is the preferred option for mixed sets, as it gives Mega Abomasnow some valuable longevity, which is important, since Mega Abomasnow is susceptible to residual damage from entry hazards and status conditions. Focus Blast has great coverage alongside Blizzard and hits the likes of Incineroar, Silvally-Steel, and Cryogonal for great damage. Earthquake can be used instead for a harder hit on Delphox and Togedemaru, but it does a lot less damage to the three aforementioned Focus Blast targets. Lastly, Ice Shard mitigates Mega Abomasnow's measly Speed and can be helpful to pick off the likes of weakened Braviary and Heliolisk.

Set Details
========

Soundproof is the preferred ability before Mega Evolution, as it lets Abomasnow switch into Heliolisk and Vikavolt. It also means Mega Abomasnow gets to summon hail instead of its regular counterpart, which gives more hail turns and also means teammates won't take unnecessary hail damage. Maximum Special Attack investment with a boosting nature is preferred to boost the power of its STAB moves. 176 Speed EVs let Mega Abomasnow outrun Modest Diancie prior to Mega Evolution and uninvested Vileplume after. The remaining of EVs are placed into HP to increase bulk and longevity. A Mild nature should be picked over Rash, as Mega Abomasnow is much more likely to be tanking special hits, such as Heliolisk's Thunderbolt and Slowbro or Vaporeon's Scald.

Usage Tips
========

Mega Abomasnow should come into walls it doesn't mind, such as Xatu, Vaporeon, and Slowbro; however, it should scout for Toxic from all three of them as well as Fire Blast from Slowbro. Xatu and Vaporeon also often pack Protect, which mandates being careful with PP and is yet another reason Toxic should be feared. Blizzard is generally low risk and should be used frequently early-game, as most of Mega Abomasnow's checks lack reliable recovery. Incineroar and Delphox are also vulnerable to entry hazards, so they can't afford to switch into Blizzard too often when hazards are up. Checks like Incineroar, Delphox, and Silvally-Steel are likely to switch in, so if your team struggles to get up hazards against your opponent's or they have some sort of Wish support, it might be worthwhile to predict their switch-ins and go for Mega Abomasnow's coverage moves. Make sure to pressure hazard setters with Mega Abomasnow and attempt to keep it healthy via Giga Drain, as hazards harm Mega Abomasnow's ability to switch in. Finally, a point important to keep in mind is whether or not to Mega Evolve; for example, if your opponent has a Heliolisk or a Vikavolt, it might be smart to keep Abomasnow at its regular forme to handle those, and the same applies to the likes of Dhelmise, which Abomasnow will only outspeed prior to Mega Evolution.

Team Options
========

Xatu prevents entry hazards from going up and provides U-turn support for Mega Abomasnow. Likewise, Defoggers like Rotom and Silvally-Steel are plausible picks as well. They also can bring Mega Abomasnow in safely via Volt Switch and Parting Shot, respectively. Faster teammates that appreciate Mega Abomasnow's wallbreaking efforts such as Heliolisk and Choice Scarf Passimian are great allies, and they also make up for Mega Abomasnow's lackluster Speed and provide VoltTurn support. Cleaners like Comfey are also notable for similar reasons. Hazard setters are also important teammates, especially those that can get hazards up against a plenitude of Defoggers and Xatu, such as Rhydon, Curse Steelix, and Diancie. Lastly, Vaporeon is a very valuable teammate, as it provides Wish and Heal Bell support while covering many foes that threaten Mega Abomasnow, such as Passimian and Fire-types. Delphox and Slowbro also help in a similar vein, as both check the aforementioned Passimian and Fire-types, whereas the former can also provide Wish support.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Swords Dance gives Mega Abomasnow a very useful power boost, making Wood Hammer remarkably hard to switch into. Wood Hammer is the preferred Grass-type STAB attack, as it hits the hardest out of any Grass-type STAB moves Mega Abomasnow has in its arsenal. Ice Shard also becomes a lot more useful after a Swords Dance boost, letting it pick off weakened offensive teams, prevent frail Pokemon such as Heliolisk and Accelgor from revenge killing Mega Abomasnow, and hit the likes of Sceptile and Braviary hard courtesy of their weakness to Ice. Lastly, Earthquake is Mega Abomasnow's best bet against Incineroar, Delphox, and Silvally-Steel.

Set Details
========

Soundproof helps Mega Abomasnow handle Heliolisk and Vikavolt before Mega Evolution, whereas Snow Warning is Mega Abomasnow's only ability after Mega Evolution and can spread chip damage. Maximum Attack and Speed investment amplifies Mega Abomasnow's firepower and quickness. A Jolly nature is ideal to outrun Vaporeon; however, Adamant can be used for extra power, which is especially important to pick up the OHKO on Heliolisk with +2 Ice Shard after Stealth Rock and always 2HKO offensive Incineroar with Earthquake at -1.

Usage Tips
========

This set can either break through bulkier teams or pick off weakened offensive ones, so make sure to identify what role it should play. Pokemon packing Protect like Vaporeon and Xatu will often use the move in front of Mega Abomasnow, so if you know they have the move and they don't know what Mega Abomasnow set you are, it could be really helpful to Swords Dance while they use Protect. There's also not too much room to punish this move even if they don't, as both the aforementioned Pokemon are forced out. Try catching the likes of Delphox, Silvally-Steel, and Incineroar with an Earthquake, as they'll likely switch into Mega Abomasnow. You can also lure and take out Hariyama, as it switches into mixed sets just fine but gets throttled by a +2 Wood Hammer. Switching into Water-types like Vaporeon and Slowbro may seem like a good plan, but be very mindful of a potential Scald burn, as well as Fire-type coverage from the latter. Make sure to Mega Evolve when the time is right, as if your opponent has a Heliolisk or a Vikavolt, it can be helpful to preserve regular Abomasnow's Soundproof ability. Likewise, outspeeding the likes of Golbat and Garbodor could be helpful prior to Mega Evolution, so keep that in mind.

Team Options
========

Xatu provides essential entry hazard control, but Defoggers like Rotom and Silvally-Steel are just as reasonable. Note that all three can also bring Mega Abomasnow in via their respective pivoting moves. Fast teammates like Heliolisk and Choice Scarf Passimian make up for Mega Abomasnow's lack of speed and appreciate it punching holes in the opposing team for them to clean up late-game. Vaporeon is a great teammate, as it handles most Pokemon that switch into Mega Abomasnow and can pass Wishes to it and provide cleric support. Teammates such as Swords Dance Samurott, Swords Dance Absol, and Accelgor can weaken Passimian to get it in range of a boosted Ice Shard. Lastly, reliable Stealth Rock setters, such as Rhydon, Druddigon, and Diancie, prevent the likes of Incineroar and Delphox from reliably checking Abomasnow. Druddigon also provides speed control with Glare.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Wood Hammer is an option over Giga Drain on the mixed attacker set for a better matchup against Assault Vest Slowbro and Slowing. However, the power difference isn't that big, and Giga Drain gives Mega Abomasnow some extra longevity, while Wood Hammer does quite the opposite.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Incineroar, Delphox, and Magmortar can eat Mega Abomasnow's STAB combination for breakfast, though the former doesn't appreciate a Focus Blast, and the latter two don't tank Earthquake well enough. Houndoom doesn't appreciate stomaching a Blizzard or two, but it can still switch in and revenge KO Mega Abomasnow if need be.

**Steel-types**: Silvally-Steel, Alolan Sandslash, and Togedemaru can tank Mega Abomasnow's STAB combination very well, though coverage moves can be an issue for them. Klinklang plays more of an offensive role, but it forces Mega Abomasnow out and can use that as an opportunity to set up.

**Residual Damage**: Stealth Rock and pretty much any entry hazard really hurts Mega Abomasnow. Toxic can also be deadly, especially when most Pokemon that use it, such as Vaporeon and Xatu, often pack Protect alongside it. Lastly, Scald burns from Slowbro and Vaporeon can be frustrating even for mixed variants.

**Faster Attackers**: Mega Abomasnow's bulk, although good, isn't anything extraordinary and still plagued by a plethora of weaknesses. That means countless faster Pokemon like Incineroar, Passimian, Braviary, and Medicham pose a massive threat to Mega Abomasnow. With correct pivoting, it isn't too hard for them to come in either.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Mega Abomasnow has big stats on both the attack and special attack departments, making it a respectable wallbreaker.
  • It—for the most part—switches into common walls in the tier like certain variants of Xatu, Vaporeon, and Slowbro. eh it switches into all variants of the former two easily (Heat Wave Xatu isn't common enough to warrant much worry). You can mention Seismitoad > Slowbro if you would prefer to just give a list of free switch-ins.
  • While it’s STAB combo of Grass and Ice isn’t exactly the best, it can be aided witb with coverage moves like Focus Blast and Earthquake.
  • Soundproof prior to Mega Evolution also helps the matchup against the likes of Heliolisk and Vikavolt too. Expand here, how does it help the matchup?
  • However, a poor Speed stat, and a vulnerability to hazard damage and Toxic from walls it’s supposed to breakthrough makes it a bit inconsistent and rather easy to deal with. I wouldn't say its issue is inconsistency; rather, its poor Speed and terrible defensive typing mean it's really easy to revenge kill and it has very few opportunities to directly switch in (and the opportunities it does get are limited due to its severe weakness to entry hazards).
  • To boot, the tier is has a fair share of checks like Incineroar, Delphox, and Silvally-Steel.
  • Something about it struggling to beat most bulky Water-types (Vaporeon Toxic+Wish+Protect stall effectively, while Slowking and AV Slowbro nuke with Fire Blast) means it faces immense competition from more reliable Grass-type wallbreakers
  • Lastly, it faces competition with other breakers like Vanilluxe and Alolan Exeguttor. Why does it face competition with them? Power? Speed?

Moves
========

  • Blizzard
  • Giga Drain is the preferred option for mixed sets as it gives Mega Abomasnow some valuable longevity. Why does Abomasnow need this longevity?
  • Focus Blast has great coverage alongside Blizzard and hits the likes of Incineroar, Silvally-Steel, and opposing Mega Abomasnow for strong damage. I'd rather see Miltank mentioned tbh. It's pretty irrelevant in the current meta, but it walls Earthquake variants pretty well, and I don't think opposing Mega Abomasnow is all too useful of a mention anyhow.
  • Earthquake
  • Lastly, Ice Shard mitigates Mega Abomasnow’s measly Speed and can be helpful to pick off the likes of weakened Braviary and Passimian. Heliolisk instead of Passimian for a mention, since you can pivot into this pre-Mega really easily.

Set Details
========

  • Soundproof is the preferred ability before Mega Evolution as it lets Abomasnow take care of Heliolisk and Vikavolt. It also means you aren't summoning hail pre-Mega, which is good for two reasons: 1) if you're forced out because say, the opponent double switches (or has Volt Switch in the case of Heliolisk and Vikavolt), then you don't want to force teammates to take hail damage, and 2) more turns to fire off Blizzard, since it will be Mega Abomasnow summoning hail rather than base Abomasnow
  • 176 Speed EVs let Mega Abomasnow outrun Modest Diancie prior to Mega Evolution and uninvested Vileplume after. talked about EVs on Discord
  • Mild should be picked over Rash as Mega Abomasnow is much more prone to tanking special hits, be it Heliolisk’s Hyper Voice, Slowbro or Vaporeon’s Scald, and so on.

Usage Tips
========

  • Mega Abomasnow should come into walls it doesn’t mind, like Xatu, Vaporeon, and Slowbro, however, it should scout for Toxic for all three of them. definitely need to give mention to Fire Blast on Slowbro
  • Xatu and Vaporeon also often pack Protect, so be careful with PP in that regard, and this is yet another reason Toxic should be feared.
  • A simple point about Blizzard being relatively safe to spam early- and mid-game to wallbreak would be nice.
  • Checks like Incineroar, Silvally-Steel, and opposing Abomasnow are likely to switch in, so prediction is really important, as all three pose a big threat to Mega Abomasnow. again I don't really see opposing Abomasnow as a reason to predict anything; it doesn't take Blizzard particularly well. Maybe Cryogonal could get a mention here.
  • Avoid letting your opponent get Stealth Rock up, as it will greatly harm Mega Abomasnow’s ability to switch in.
  • Finally, a point important to keep in mind is wether whether or not to Mega Evolve, if your opponent has a Heliolisk or a Vikavolt, it might be smart to keep Abomasnow at its regular form to handle those, same applies to the likes of Diancie and Dhelmise, both of which Abomasnow only outspeed prior to Mega Evolution.

Team Options
========

  • Xatu is a great teammate as it helps in the hazard department and Mega Abomasnow is very vulnerable to Stealth Rock. it's vulnerable to all entry hazards lol
  • Likewise, Defoggers like Rotom and Silvally-Steel are plausible picks as well. mention how these two can also safely bring Mega Abomasnow in with Volt Switch and Parting Shot, respectively.
  • Faster teammates that appreciate Mega Abomasnow’s wallbreaking efforts such as Heliolisk and Choice Scarf Passimian are great allies, they also make up for Mega Abomasnow’s lackluster Speed. eh you could change this to just cleaners in general, with Comfey being a great mention here (and can also do more expansion with Heliolisk and Passimian, as they offer Volt Switch and U-turn support).
  • Since all of Mega Abomasnow’s typical switch ins lack reliable recovery with the exception of Wish Delphox, Sneasel is a great teammate as it can wear down Mega Abomasnow’s checks and vice versa while also being capable of trapping Delphox via Pursuit. I don't like the type synergy here at all. I'd rather you just mention entry hazard setters to chip away at switch-ins (Stealth Rock in particular, since it beats down at Fire-types, Cryogonal, and even Articuno).
  • Likewise, Incineroar is a great teammate as it handles all of Mega Abomasnow’s checks. !!dt Passimian (reword/find examples to go alongside this because there are a lot of Pokemon Incineroar doesn't handle that check Mega Abomasnow. You could also offer the fact Incineroar provides a slow U-turn if it's the pivot set and can burn stuff like a Passimian or Hariyama)
  • I want Vaporeon explicitly mentioned; Wish + Heal Bell support is so fucking good with this Pokemon, and Vaporeon checks a LOT of what threatens Mega Abomasnow

Moves
========

  • Swords Dance gives Mega Abomasnow a very needed power boost, making Wood Hammer remarkably hard to switch into.
  • Wood Hammer
  • Ice Shard also becomes a lot more useful after a Swords Dance letting it pick off weakened offensive teams, and just prevent frail Pokemon from revenge KO’ing Mega Abomasnow. name drop at least Heliolisk as a target; iirc it drops to +2 almost all the time with no prior chip needed
  • Lastly, Earthquake is Mega Abomasnow’s best bet against Incineroar, Delphox, and Silvally-Steel.

Set Details
========

  • Explain the EVs
  • Soundproof helps Mega Abomasnow handle Heliolisk and Vikavolt before Mega Evolution.
  • Adamant is preferred for the added power, especially with Ice Shard. Jolly is preferred for the Speed boost, so make this point about it being nice for the power boost (and listing examples of KOs you need Adamant for if you can find any relevant ones)

Usage Tips
========

  • This set takes a bit of a different approach with Swords Dance, as Mega Abomasnow can act as a wallbreaker to bulkier teams, or a sweeper for weakened offensive squads. So make sure to identify what role it should play.
  • Pokemon packing Protect like Vaporeon and Xatu will often use the move in front of Mega Abomasnow, so if you know they have the move, and they don’t know what Mega Abomasnow set you are, it could be really helpful to Swords Dance while they Protect. There’s also not too much room to punish this move even if they don’t Protect as both the aforementioned Pokemon are forced out. you could include something about how this set lets Mega Abomasnow lure and defeat all Hariyama variants too; it switches into mixed fine, but drops to +2 Wood Hammer lol
  • Try catching the likes of Delphox, Silvally-Steel, and Incineroar with an Earthquake, as they’ll likely switch into Mega Abomasnow.
  • Switching into Water-types like Vaporeon and Slowbro may seem like a good plan, but be very mindful of a potential Scald burn.
  • Try to keep Stealth Rock off the field, as they diminish setup opportunities and just decrease its longevity.
  • Make sure to Mega Evolve when the time is right, if your opponent a Heliolisk or a Vikavolt it can be helpful to preserve your Soundproof ability.
  • Likewise, outspeeding the likes of Diancie could be helpful prior to Mega Evolution, so keep that in mind.

Team Options
========

  • Due to the fact that Incineroar walls this set for days and that it’s a premier Pokémon in NU, teammates that can lure or overwhelm Incineroar are welcomed. Examples include Breakneck Blitz Nasty Plot Houndoom, All-Out Pumelling Pummeling Decidueye, and Low Kick Sneasel. All of these also help with Mega Abomasnow’s other checks, such as Silvally-Steel, Delphox, and opposing Mega Abomasnow. I mean you have Earthquake... so it doesn't exactly "wall it for days". I also don't know how I feel about you mentioning Breakneck Blitz Houndoom seeing as how it's not a main set. I'd reword this bullet entirely tbh and just focus on the fact Fire-types in general pivot into any move not named Earthquake and then give examples of Pokemon that can beat them.
  • Xatu provides fundamental hazard control, but Defoggers like Rotom and Silvally-Steel are just as reasonable. all of these can bring Mega Abomasnow onto the field with U-turn/Volt Switch/Parting Shot too
  • Fast teammates like Heliolisk and Choice Scarf Passimian make up for Mega Abomasnow’s lack of speed and appreciate it punching holes on the opposing team for the aforementioned fast Pokémon to clean up late-game.
  • Vaporeon again needs to be given its own bullet point for the same reasons as previously.
  • Friendly entry hazard setters make breaking easier (Stealth Rock in particular for Fire-types)

Other Options
=============

  • Wood Hammer is an option over Giga Drain on the All-Out Attacker set, but the power difference isn’t that big, and Giga Drain gives Mega Abomasnow some extra longevity while Wood Hammer does quite the opposite. focus more on how it lets Mega Abomasnow beat stuff like AV King and Bro

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Both Incineroar and Delphox can eat Mega Abomasnow’s STAB combo for breakfast, though they don’t appreciate a Focus Blast and an Earthquake, respectively. Magmortar and Houndoom don’t appreciate stomaching a Blizzard or two, but if they have to tank it they sure can.

**Steel-types**: Silvally-Steel, Alolan Sandlash Sandslash, and Togedemaru can tank Mega Abomasnow’s STAB combo very well, though coverage moves can be an issue for them. Klingklang Klinklang plays more of an offensive role but if need be it can stomach a hit. Steelix and Ferroseed aren’t good switch ins, though, courtesy of their neutrality to Ice as opposed to a resistance. Focus more on how Klinklang can use forced switch-outs as opportunities to set up. Steelix isn't a good check at all because it doesn't actually beat Mega Abomasnow, while Ferroseed is an unmon and also doesn't beat Mega Abomasnow.

**Residual Damage**: Stealth Rock and pretty much any hazard really hurts Mega Abomasnow. Toxic can also be deadly, especially when most Pokemon that use it, such as Vaporeon and Xatu, often pack Protect alongside it. Lastly, Scald burns from Slowbro and Vaporeon can be frustrating even for Mixed variants.

**Faster attackers**: Mega Abomasnow’s bulk, although good, isn’t anything extraordinary. That means faster Pokemon like Incineroar, Passimian, Braviary, Medicham, and countless others just pose a massive threat to Mega Abomasnow. And with correct pivoting it isn’t too hard for them to come in either.

  • Lastly, Ice Shard mitigates Mega Abomasnow’s measly Speed and can be helpful to pick off the likes of weakened Braviary and Heliolisk.

Set Details

  • Soundproof is the preferred ability before Mega Evolution as it lets Abomasnow take care of Heliolisk and Vikavolt. It also means Mega Abomasnow gets to summon Hail instead of its regular counterpart which gives more Hail turns in case Abomasnow switches out and also makes it so teammates don’t take unnecessary Hail damage. "it gives more hail turns in case Abomasnow switches out" doesn't rly make sense. I think I know what you mean, but I'd just reword this to say it gives Mega Abomasnow more hail turns and lets teammates take less damage from hail
  • After Mega Evolution, however, Snow Warning lets Mega Abomasnow spam Blizzard and spread residual damage. idt this is necessary given the previous bullet mentions mega snowman summoning hail
  • Maximum Special Attack investment with a boosting nature is preffered to amp up the power of its STAB moves.
  • 176 Speed EVs let Mega Abomasnow outrun Modest Diancie prior to Mega Evolution and uninvested Vileplume after.
  • The remaining of EVs are placed into HP to increase bulk and longevity.
  • Mild should be picked over Rash as Mega Abomasnow is much more prone to tanking special hits, be it Heliolisk’s Hyper Voice, Slowbro or Vaporeon’s Scald, and so on. change Hyper Voice to something like Thunderbolt from Lisk; you're really only ever coming in on Hyper Voice pre-Mega. also make this mentioned right after the stuff about special attack investment.

Usage Tips

  • Mega Abomasnow should come into walls it doesn’t mind, like Xatu, Vaporeon, and Slowbro, however, it should scout for Toxic for all three of them and Fire Blast from Slowbro.

  • Checks like Incineroar, Delphox, Silvally-Steel, and Cryogonal are likely to switch in, so if your team struggles to get up hazards against your opponent’s or they have some sort of Wish support it might be worthwhile to predict. predict what?
  • Avoid letting your opponent get Stealth Rock up, as it will greatly harm Mega Abomasnow’s ability to switch in. I mean, this doesn't really tell anyone how to use Mega Abomasnow. I'd rather just see a point about managing longevity with Giga Drain and pressuring hazard setters with Mega Abomasnow, should you want to keep this idea in.
  • Finally, a point important to keep in mind is whether or not to Mega Evolve, if your opponent has a Heliolisk or a Vikavolt, it might be smart to keep Abomasnow at its regular form to handle those, same applies to the likes of Diancie and Dhelmise, both of which Abomasnow will only outspeed prior to Mega Evolution.

Team Options

  • Xatu is a great teammate as it helps in the hazard department and Mega Abomasnow is very vulnerable to most hazards but especially Stealth Rock. this sentence is a mess and is incredibly difficult to read ngl. something like "Xatu helps prevent entry hazards from going up and can provide pivot support" would work fine imo
  • Likewise, Defoggers like Rotom and Silvally-Steel are plausible picks as well. They also can bring Mega Abomasnow in safely via Volt Switch and Parting Shot, respectively.
  • Faster teammates that appreciate Mega Abomasnow’s wallbreaking efforts such as Heliolisk and Choice Scarf Passimian are great allies, they also make up for Mega Abomasnow’s lackluster Speed and provide VoltTurn support as well. Cleaners like Comfey are also notable for similar reasons.
  • Hazard setters are also important teammates, especially those that can get hazards up against a plentifude not a word of Defoggers and Xatu. Curse Steelix, Rhydon, and Diancie are notable examples.
  • Lastly Vaporeon is a very valuable teammate as it provides Wish and Heal Bell support while covering many of what threatens Mega Abomasnow.

  • Whereas Snow Warning is Mega Abomasnow’s only ability after Mega Evolution and can spread chip damage.
  • Maximum Attack and Speed investment amplifies Mega Abomasnow’s firepower and quickness, respectively.
  • Jolly is ideal to outrun Vaporeon and Mild or Adamant Mega Abomasnow. Jolly is literally run solely for Vaporeon imo
  • However Adamant can be used for extra power, which is especially important on Ice Shard and Earthquake which helps pick up the OHKO on Heliolisk with +2 Ice Shard After Stealth Rock and always 2HKO offensive Incineroar with Earthquake at -1.
Usage Tips
========

  • This set takes a bit of a different approach with Swords Dance, as Mega Abomasnow can act as a wallbreaker to bulkier teams, or a sweeper for weakened offensive squads. So make sure to identify what role it should play. I would just say it can wallbreak fat teams and sweep weakened offensive ones. the wording right now is confusing imo
  • Try catching the likes of Delphox, Silvally-Steel, and Incineroar with an Earthquake, as they’ll likely switch into Mega Abomasnow.
  • You can also lure Hariyama, as it switches into mixed sets just fine, but gets throttled by a +2 Wood Hammer.
  • Switching into Water-types like Vaporeon and Slowbro may seem like a good plan, but be very mindful of a potential Scald burn. and Fire-type coverage from the latter
  • Try to keep Stealth Rock off the field, as they diminish setup opportunities and just decrease its longevity. this is also not very useful in identifying how to use Mega Abomasnow unless you tell me how to prevent Stealth Rock with the Pokemon itself

========

  • Wallbreakers that can overwhelm the Fire- and Steel-types that check Mega Abomasnow, such as Diancie, Vikavolt, and Samurott are nice picks. pairing wallbreakers with another wallbreaker is not really the way you wanna go I feel, especially considering the teams this fits on
  • Xatu provides fundamental hazard control, but Defoggers like Rotom and Silvally-Steel are just as reasonable. Note that all three can also bring Mega Abomasnow in via U-turn, Volt Switch, and Parting Shot, respectively.
  • Fast teammates like Heliolisk and Choice Scarf Passimian make up for Mega Abomasnow’s lack of speed and appreciate it punching holes on the opposing team for the aforementioned fast Pokémon to clean up late-game.
  • Vaporeon is a great teammate as it handles most Pokémon that switch into Mega Abomasnow and can pass Wishes for it. Heal Bell support is also welcome.
  • Lastly, reliable Stealth Rock setters, such as the Rhydon, Druddigon, and the aforementioned Diancie make it so the likes of Incineroar and Delphox aren’t too reliable of a check anymore. may as well mention Druddigon can provide Speed control with Glare too

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Wood Hammer is an option over Giga Drain on the All-Out Attacker set for a better matchup against Assault Vest Slowbro and Slowking, but for the most part, the power difference isn’t that big, and Giga Drain gives Mega Abomasnow some extra longevity while Wood Hammer does quite the opposite.

Checks and Counters
===================

Iapapa Magmortar can deal with switching into Blizzard; I'd move its mention into the bit with Incineroar and Delphox

**Steel-types**: Silvally-Steel, Alolan Sandslash, and Togedemaru can tank Mega Abomasnow’s STAB combo very well, though coverage moves can be an issue for them. Klinklang plays more of an offensive role but it forced as it forces? Mega Abomasnow out amd can use that as an opportunity to set up.

**Faster attackers**: Mega Abomasnow’s bulk, although good, isn’t anything extraordinary and is compromised by Mega Abomasnow's many weaknesses. That means faster Pokemon like Incineroar, Passimian, Braviary, Medicham, and countless others just pose a massive threat to Mega Abomasnow. And with correct pivoting it isn’t too hard for them to come in either.

[OVERVIEW]

  • Mega Abomasnow has big High stats on both the attack and special attack departments, making it a respectable wallbreaker, and while it’s STAB combo of Grass and Ice isn’t exactly the best, it can be aided with coverage moves like Focus Blast and Earthquake. This whole sentence is a bit awkwardly worded, I'd also like a mention of the fact that it has STAB Blizzard.
  • It—for the most part—switches into common walls in the tier like certain variants of Xatu, Vaporeon, and Seismitoad.
  • Soundproof prior to Mega Evolution also helps the matchup against the likes of Heliolisk and Vikavolt by giving an immunity to what would otherwise be neutral highly damaging STAB moves. (Bug Buzz is SE and kills you)
  • However, a poor Speed stat, and a vulnerability to hazard damage makes it rather easy to deal with and revenge kill. I'd say quickly worn down, and easily revenge killed.
  • To boot, the tier is has a fair share of checks like Incineroar, Delphox, and Silvally-Steel. None of these switch in that comfortably, EQ does a number on all 3, I'd more say that it can't easily use Blizzard.
  • And even the Water-types and Xatu it can supposedly switch into threaten it with Toxic, a Scald Burn, or Fire-type coverage, making it harder for it to switch in.
  • Lastly, it faces competition with other breakers like Vanilluxe and Alolan Exeguttor, that are overall faster and more powerful.

Moves
========

  • Blizzard is the go-to choice as it has plenty of power and perfect accuracy under hail.
  • Giga Drain is the preferred option for mixed sets as it gives Mega Abomasnow some valuable longevity, which is important since Mega Abomasnow is prone to residual damage from hazard and status conditions.
  • Focus Blast has great coverage alongside Blizzard and hits the likes of Incineroar, Silvally-Steel, and Cryogonal for strong damage.
  • Earthquake can be used instead for a stronger hit on Delphox and Togedemaru, but it does a lot less damage to the three aforementioned Focus Blast targets.
  • Lastly, Ice Shard mitigates Mega Abomasnow’s measly Speed and can be helpful to pick off the likes of weakened Braviary and Heliolisk.

Set Details
========

  • Soundproof is the preferred ability before Mega Evolution as it lets Abomasnow take care of Heliolisk and Vikavolt. I'd say switch into, not take care of. It also means Mega Abomasnow gets to summon Hail instead of its regular counterpart which gives more Hail turns and also makes it so teammates don’t take unnecessary Hail damage.
  • Maximum Special Attack investment with a boosting nature is preferred to amp up the power of its STAB moves.
  • 176 Speed EVs let Mega Abomasnow outrun Modest Diancie prior to Mega Evolution and uninvested Vileplume after.
  • The remaining of EVs are placed into HP to increase bulk and longevity.
  • Mild should be picked over Rash as Mega Abomasnow is much more prone to tanking special hits, be it Heliolisk’s Thunderbolt, Slowbro or Vaporeon’s Scald, and so on. Also over Modest cause Ice Shard.

Usage Tips
========

  • Mega Abomasnow should come into walls it doesn’t mind, like Xatu, Vaporeon, and Slowbro, however, it should scout for Toxic for all three of them and Fire Blast from Slowbro.
  • Xatu and Vaporeon also often pack Protect, so be careful with PP in that regard, and this is yet another reason Toxic should be feared.
  • Blizzard is generally pretty free and should be used frequently early-game, as most of Mega Abomasnow’s checks lack reliable recovery. Incineroar and Delphox are also prone to hazards, so they can’t afford to switch into Blizzard too often when hazards are up.
  • Checks like Incineroar, Delphox, Silvally-Steel, and Cryogonal are likely to switch in, so if your team struggles to get up hazards against your opponent’s or they have some sort of Wish support it might be worthwhile to predict them and go for your coverage.
  • Make sure to pressure hazard setters with Mega Abomasnow and attempt to keep it healthy via Giga Drain, as hazards would otherwise harm Mega Abomasnow’s ability to switch in.

========

  • Xatu prevents hazards from going up and provides U-turn support for Mega Abomasnow.
  • Hazard setters are also important teammates, especially those that can get hazards up against a plenitude of Defoggers and Xatu. Curse Steelix, Rhydon, and Diancie are notable examples.
  • Lastly Vaporeon is a very valuable teammate as it provides Wish and Heal Bell support while covering many of what threatens Mega Abomasnow, such as Passimian and Fire-types.
  • Delphox and Slowbro also help in a similar vein, as both check the aforementioned Passimian and Fire-types whereas the former can also provide Wish support.

A Mild nature should be picked over Rash, (AC) as Mega Abomasnow is much more prone likely to be tanking special hits, be it such as Heliolisk's Thunderbolt (RC) and Slowbro or Vaporeon's Scald, and so on.

Usage Tips
========

Mega Abomasnow should come into walls it doesn't mind, like Xatu, Vaporeon, and Slowbro; (SC) however, it should scout for Toxic for from all three of them and as well as Fire Blast from Slowbro. Xatu and Vaporeon also often pack Protect, so be which mandates being careful with PP in that regard, and this is yet another reason Toxic should be feared. Blizzard is generally low risk and should be used frequently early-game, as most of Mega Abomasnow's checks lack reliable recovery. Incineroar and Delphox are also prone vulnerable to entry hazards, so they can't afford to switch into Blizzard too often when hazards are up. Checks like Incineroar, Delphox, Silvally-Steel, and Cryogonal are likely to switch in, so if your team struggles to get up hazards against your opponent's or they have some sort of Wish support, (AC) it might be worthwhile to predict them their switch-ins and go for your Mega Abomasnow's coverage. Make sure to pressure hazard setters with Mega Abomasnow and attempt to keep it healthy via Giga Drain, as hazards would otherwise harm Mega Abomasnow's ability to switch in. Finally, a point important to keep in mind is whether or not to Mega Evolve; (SC) for example, if your opponent has a Heliolisk or a Vikavolt, it might be smart to keep Abomasnow at its regular form forme to handle those, and the same applies to the likes of Dhelmise, which Abomasnow will only outspeed prior to Mega Evolution.

Team Options
========

Faster teammates that appreciate Mega Abomasnow's wallbreaking efforts such as Heliolisk and Choice Scarf Passimian are great allies, and they also make up for Mega Abomasnow's lackluster Speed and provide VoltTurn support as well. Cleaners like Comfey are also notable for similar reasons. Hazard setters are also important teammates, especially those that can get hazards up against a plenitude plentitude of Defoggers and Xatu, (comma) such as Curse Steelix, Rhydon, and Diancie are notable examples. Lastly, Vaporeon is a very valuable teammate, (AC) as it provides Wish and Heal Bell support while covering many of what threatens foes that threaten Mega Abomasnow, such as Passimian and Fire-types. Delphox and Slowbro also help in a similar vein, as both check the aforementioned Passimian and Fire-types, (AC) whereas the former can also provide Wish support.

Moves

Swords Dance gives Mega Abomasnow a very useful power boost, making Wood Hammer remarkably hard to switch into. Wood Hammer is the preffered preferred Grass-type STAB attack, (AC) as it hits the hardest out of any Grass-type STAB moves Mega Abomasnow has on its arsenal. Ice Shard also becomes a lot more useful after a Swords Dance boost, (AC) letting it pick off weakened offensive teams, and just prevent frail Pokemon such as Heliolisk and Accelgor from revenge KO'ing killing Mega Abomasnow, such as Heliolisk and Accelgor, also hits hard and hit the likes of Sceptile and Braviary hard courtesy of their weakness to Ice. Lastly, Earthquake is Mega Abomasnow's best bet against Incineroar, Delphox, and Silvally-Steel.

Set Details
========

Soundproof helps Mega Abomasnow handle Heliolisk and Vikavolt before Mega Evolution, (comma) whereas Snow Warning is Mega Abomasnow's only ability after Mega Evolution and can spread chip damage. Maximum Attack and Speed investment amplifies Mega Abomasnow's firepower and quickness, respectively. A Jolly nature is ideal to outrun Vaporeon; (SC) however, (AC) Adamant can be used for extra power, which is especially important on Ice Shard and Earthquake which helps to pick up the OHKO on Heliolisk with +2 Ice Shard after Stealth Rock and always 2HKO offensive Incineroar with Earthquake at -1.

Usage Tips
========

This set can either break through fatter bulkier teams or pick off weakened offensive oned. ones, so make sure to identify what role it should play. Pokemon packing Protect like Vaporeon and Xatu will often use the move in front of Mega Abomasnow, so if you know they have the move (RC) and they don't know what Mega Abomasnow set you are, it could be really helpful to Swords Dance while they use Protect. There's also not too much room to punish this move even if they don't Protect, (AC) as both the aforementioned Pokemon are forced out. Try catching the likes of Delphox, Silvally-Steel, and Incineroar with an Earthquake, as they'll likely switch into Mega Abomasnow. You can also lure and take out Hariyama, as it switches into mixed sets just fine (RC) but gets throttled by a +2 Wood Hammer. Switching into Water-types like Vaporeon and Slowbro may seem like a good plan, but be very mindful of a potential Scald burn, (AC) as well as Fire-type coverage from the latter. Make sure to Mega Evolve when the time is right, as if your opponent a Heliolisk or a Vikavolt, (AC) it can be helpful to preserve your regular Abomasnow's Soundproof ability. Likewise, outspeeding the likes of Golbat and Clawitzer could be helpful prior to Mega Evolution, so keep that in mind.

Team Options
========

Xatu provides fundamental essential entry (weird word choice) hazard control, but Defoggers like Rotom and Silvally-Steel are just as reasonable. Note that all three can also bring Mega Abomasnow in via U-turn, Volt Switch, and Parting Shot, respectively their respective pivoting moves. Fast teammates like Heliolisk and Choice Scarf Passimian make up for Mega Abomasnow's lack of speed and appreciate it punching holes on the opposing team for the aforementioned fast Pokémon them to clean up late-game. Vaporeon is a great teammate, (AC) as it handles most Pokémon that switch into Mega Abomasnow and can pass Wishes for to it. Heal Bell support is also welcome. Lastly, reliable Stealth Rock setters, such as the Rhydon, Druddigon, and the aforementioned Diancie, (AC) make it so prevent the likes of Incineroar and Delphox aren't too reliable of a check anymore from reliably checking Abomasnow. Druddigon also provides speed control with Glare. Teammates such as Swords Dance Samurott, Swords Dance Absol, and Accelgor all help weakening Passimian to get it in range of a boosted Ice Shard.

Other Options
=============

Wood Hammer is an option over Giga Drain on the all-out attacker set for a better matchup against Assault Vest Slowbro and Slowking, but for the most part, the power difference isn't that big, and Giga Drain gives Mega Abomasnow some extra longevity while Wood Hammer does quite the opposite.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Fire-types**: Incineroar, Delphox, and Magmortar can eat Mega Abomasnow's STAB combo combination for breakfast, though the former doesn't appreciate a Focus Blast and the latter two don't tank Earthquake well enough. Houndoom doesn't appreciate stomaching a Blizzard or two, but it can still switch in and revenge KO Mega Abomasnow if need be.

**Steel-types**: Silvally-Steel, Alolan Sandslash, and Togedemaru can tank Mega Abomasnow's STAB combo combination very well, though coverage moves can be an issue for them. Klinklang plays more of an offensive role, (AC) but it forces Mega Abomasnow out and can use that as an opportunity to set up.

That means countless faster Pokemon like Incineroar, Passimian, Braviary, and Medicham, and countless others just pose a massive threat to Mega Abomasnow. And With correct pivoting, (AC) it isn't too hard for them to come in either.

[OVERVIEW]

Mega Abomasnow's great Attack and Special Attack stats and powerful STAB attacks in Blizzard and Wood Hammer alongside coverage moves like Focus Blast and Earthquake make it an effective wallbreaker. In addition, its STAB combination can be complemented with coverage moves like Focus Blast and Earthquake.(RP, optional change to better organize info and improve flow imo) Mega Abomasnow also enjoys switching into common walls in the tier like certain variants of Xatu, Vaporeon, and Seismitoad. Even Xatu and the Water-types it can supposedly switch into threaten it in a one way or another, be it Toxic from Xatu or Vaporeon or Fire-type coverage from Slowbro. Lastly, it faces competition with other breakers like Alolan Exeggutor and Mega Glalie that are overall faster and more powerful.

Moves
========

Set Details
========
