Pros:
- A Fire immune to Ground moves without coming with a crippling X4 Rock weakness is great allowing it to switch in much more comfortably into strong earthquake spammers or stand next to teammates such as Garchomp in doubles.
- Is fast and hits hard. Base 154 Special attack combined with 134 speed gives Delphox a strong offensive presence with very little being able to both switch in and outspeed it.
- Its strong special bulk can allow it to enter in on special attacks such as Mega Froslass Shadow Ball much easier than one would expect.
Cons:
- Fire/Psychic isn't a great defensive typing overall having key weakness to Rock Slide/Stone Edge, Sucker Punch, and Shadow Ball to name a few notable moves and Earthquake pre mega evolution.
- While fast, Delphox is still only base 134 making it slower than the likes of Mega Greninja and Dragapult for example and needing to switch out lest it eat a Hydro Pump or Shadow Ball respectively.
- Delphox is very physically frail making it risky to keep it in against powerful physical threats, especially ones that hit it first like Choice Scarf Garchomp or Shadow Sneak Aegislash or those that can stay in on Delphox without too much risk such as Dragonite.

The EV Spread on enables Delphox to outspeed Mega Gengar while slightly increasing special bulk.
Potential teammates:
Garchomp's Earthquakes serve Delphox extremely well providing much needed physical coverage and a way to deal with pesky checks like Hisuian Goodra and Garganacl while Garchomp greatly enjoys Delphox's ability to remove Corviknight.
With its horrible Ghost weakness, Kingambit can provide assistance in warding off said Ghost-types through its powerful Sucker Punch and Kowtow Kleave along with using Iron Head to slam Gargancacl.
As a slow bulky pivot, Corviknight can easily get Delphox onto the field to work its magic along with using its high physical bulk and Body Press to check foes like Kingambit and Choice Scarf Weavile.
