Brand new to competitive battling, but this one wont necessarily be for much online play. This is a team I intend on using only with my friends, I know that Mega Kangaskhan is banned from OU, but I still love her too much not to use her.
My team:
Eelektross Choice Band
Nature: Quiet
Ability: Levitate
252 Atk/140 Speed/116 HP
-Thunder Punch
-Aqua Tail
-Drain Punch
-U turn
With eelektross, my main goal is to have a physical force right out of the gate, and also one that will be able to get out of trouble with U-turn for if I have to go up against anything unfavorable. The thing that really drew me into eelektross was its lack of weaknesses. I wanted to give it some help with the speed, since it doesnt have a very favorable one, while still boosting its ATK and adding a few more HP. Thunder Punch is my main STAB move with Aqua Tail and Drain Punch covering some more bases, especially pesky ground types that I can't get with a STAB move.
Alakazam Life orb
Nature: Sassy
Ability: Synchronize
252 SpAtk/252 Speed/4 HP
-Psyshock
-Ice Punch
-Signal Beam
-Focus Blast
Alakazam has been one of my go to's since Gen I, and that doesn't change now. I always have a hard time not putting him on my team due to his awesome speed and SpAtk, so he always finds a spot. I also really like the Synchronize ability for when I get stuck against any kind of Annoyer, then they can be just as ticked off as I am. Focus Blast is here due to his great power and ability to take out Tyranitar. Ice Punch and Signal Beam are coverage moves and Psyshock is obviously a strong STAB move.
Scizor
Nature: Jolly
Ability: Swarm
252 Atk/140 Speed/116 HP
-U turn
-Bullet Punch
-Pursuit
-Superpower
Scizor is here to be a scout that has decent stats to back itself up. I probably should have put Scizor first as he will probably lead, but I've already typed all this so it's too late. U-turn is obviously there to switch into a more favorable matchup after scouting out the other team. Bullet Punch is my STAB, Pursuit and Superpower are coverage. I have no idea what item to give him, so I'm open to suggestions. Also I kept trying to get a Scyther with Technician but I never could so I settled with Swarm to boost my STAB even more if I get too low on HP.
Magnezone @choice scarf?
NAture: Quirky
Ability: Magnet Pull
252 SpAtk/ 252 Speed/ 4 HP
-Flash Cannon
-Thunderbolt
-Volt Switch
-Substitute?
Magnezone is here to be my Anti-Tyranitar pokemon. A lot of my friends all seem to like Tyranitar a lot, so I took extra precautions. I have a choice scarf there now, but that might change. Substitute might find its way off too, it is there mainly just to complete the moveset. Thunderbolt is the obvious STAB. Flash Cannon is 2x against T-Tar and Volt Switch lets me switch out if I don't like the matchup. I'm really considering switching Magnezone out for a fighting type, maybe Machamp, Gallade, or Blaziken. Thoughts? Please include preffered moveset if you suggest one of these.
Volcarona Life orb maybe
Nature: Timid
Ability: Flame Body
252 SpAtk/ 252 Speed/ 4 HP
-Quiver Dance
-Giga Drain
-Bug Buzz
-Fire Blast
After Quiver Dance, this guy is unstoppable. The already insane SpAtk is boosted to go with dual STABs Bug Buzz and Fire Blast, although I might switch Fire Blast out for Fiery Dance for the potential additional SpAtk boost. Giga Drain rounds it out just for some additional coverage. I'm not convinced on the life orb yet, so it might stay or it could go. Overall, this pokemon earned its spot because of its insane SpAtk on top of its small list of weaknesses. I mean, its a bug that isn't weak to Fire!
Kangaskhan @Kangaskanite
Nature:Jolly
Ability: Scrappy
252 Atk/252 Speed/ 4 HP
-Substitute
-Return
-Focus Punch
-Sucker Punch
Kangaskhan has been my favorite pokemon ever since The Kangaskhan Kid premiered back in the 90s. When I found out she got a mega evolution, there was no way I wouldn't make a team with a spot open for her. With the parental bond ability after mega evolution I was even more sold. Substitute is there for obvious reasons if you haven't noticed that trend on my team yet. Focus Punch is there because I love the potential it has, especially with the extra boost in speed and the additional speed from mega evolution. Sucker Punch is there for a little bit of coverage and Return might not stay there for long.
So that's what I have for now, any input is much appreciated. Thanks!
