Mega Latios's gargantuan Special Attack, excellent bulk for an offensive Pokemon, and Speed tier that outpaces common wallbreakers suchas Thundurus-T, Keldeo, and Enamorus make it powerful threat that can terrorize offensive and defensive Pokemon alike. Aura Sphere is essential for its role, targeting Dark-types, notably 2HKOing the Tyranitar formes and OHKOing Bisharp, foes that can otherwise Pursuit trap Mega Latios. It also targets Steel-types such as Excadrill and Iron Treads. Shadow Ball hits opposing Psychic-types such as Latios and Latias. Alternatively, Thunderbolt targets Water-types such as Tapu Fini and Flying-types such as Celesteela; additionally, while Mega Latios doesn't need Thunderbolt to threaten Enamorus and Skarmory, it always OHKOes them after Stealth Rock. Both options have the added benefit of pressuring Slowbro and Slowking, which otherwise stonewall and can pivot out on Mega Latios. Recover lets Mega Latios stay healthy, allowing it to check foes such as Keldeo and Iron Hands throughout a game. Mega Latios best fits on bulky offense teams looking for a fast offensive threat that has strong defensive utility. It has massive competition with Mega Latias, which is a much better setup sweeper thanks to its massive bulk, so teams using Mega Latios must utilize the instant offensive power it provides. Mega Latios is helpless against certain special walls such as Chansey and Blissey, making physical wallbreakers such as Scizor and Iron Hands necessary partners. Pursuit trappers like Tyranitar and Bisharp are notably effective at removing these walls. While it isn't helpless against Dark-types, foes like Mega Tyranitar and Bisharp can still easily win the one-on-one thanks to their bulk or access to Sucker Punch, making Fighting-types such as Buzzwole and Galarian Zapdos good partners for their ability to check and remove them. Mega Latios can be revenge killed by faster foes such as Choice Scarf Enamorus and Meowscarada, making bulky teammates such as Amoonguss and Skarmory useful teammates. Based on its choice of coverage, Mega Latios is either walled by Psychic-types like Latios and Latias or certain Water- and Flying-types like Calm Mind Tapu Fini and Celesteela. The aforementioned Pursuit trappers are excellent at removing the former. Ghost-types like Hisuian Zoroark can also work well at KOing these foes. Against the latter group, Electric-types such as Iron Hands and Zeraora can eliminate them. Given that many of Mega Latios's checks lack recovery and don't hold Heavy-Duty Boots, entry hazard setters like Meowscarada, Iron Treads, and Mega Tyranitar can help it break through them.

Mega Latios best fits on bulky offense teams looking for a fast offensive wallbreaker that doesn't mind taking a hit. has useful defensive utility. It has massive competition with Mega Latias, which is a much better setup sweeper thanks to its massive bulk, so teams using Mega Latios must utilize the instant offensive power it provides. Mega Latios is helpless against certain special walls such as Chansey and Assault Vest Galarian Slowking, making physical wallbreakers such as Ursaluna and Ogerpon-C necessary partners. could add bish and ttar here asw, pursuiting or koffing both While it isn't helpless against Dark-types, foes like Mega Tyranitar and Bisharp can still easily win the one-on-one with good prediction, should be specified how, they can pivot in on Psychic then Bisharp can threaten with Sucker Punch while Mttar can pursuit since aura sphere cant ohko. Obviously condense this but it makes it more comprehensive imo making Fighting-types such as Buzzwole and Iron Hands good partners for their ability to check and remove them.
