- Curse
Mega Steelix establishes itself in the UU tier as one of the best answers to Latias, due to it's Steel/Ground typing letting it block even Latias' Gigavolt Havoc. Steelix can also offer good role compression on teams due to it's stellar bulk, access to Stealth Rocks, as well as Curse, which all let it function as a Latias check, a Rocker, and even a wallbreaker in some instances, thanks to Curse. Due to it's typing as well, it can function as a check to Scizor not running Fighting coverage. However, Steelix is completely walled by the likes of Moltres and Rotom Heat, who can even Defog Steelix's Stealth Rocks away. Steelix appreciates Wish Support due to it's lack of recovery, which make Wish Passers like Sylveon and Florges good partners. Primarina in particular is a good partner due to it's ability to pressure Ground, Fire, and Fighting types with it's STAB combination, while appreciating Steelix's ability to check Electric, Poison, and Steel types for Primarina.
