Melmetal @ Punching Glove
Ability: Iron Fist
EVs: 252 Atk / 164 SpD / 92 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Double Iron Bash
- Superpower
- Thunder Punch
- Thunder Wave
The metallic cyclops has awakened from its slumber! Melmetal is an excellent bulky attacker that uses its typing and titanic bulk to check Pokemon such as Tapu Lele, Hisuian Samurott, and Dragon Dance Dragapult. Superpower nails Steel-types such as Kingambit, Ferrothorn, and Heatran. Thunder Punch hits Pokemon such as Moltres, Urshifu-R, and Toxapex on the switch in. Thunder Wave gives Pokemon that check Melmetal, like Volcarona and Skarmory, a harder task checking it over time. It also pairs excellently with Double Iron Bash, allowing Melmetal to muscle through Corviknight and Alomomola in the long term. Punching Glove gives Melmetal an immunity to contact effects from Zapdos and Moltres on its punching moves. The given EVs outspeed Ting-Lu and Modest Heatran. Melmetal’s defensive profile is appreciated by wallbreakers such as Garchomp and Hisuian Samurott, which like its ability to switchin on Pokemon like Tapu Lele and Weavile threatening to revenge kill them. In return, these Pokemon help Melmetal by taking on its checks in Slowbro and Volcarona. They also provide entry hazards, which make wearing down Gholdengo and Rotom-W an easier job for Melmetal.
