Pokémon Meowstic-M

yippee

Base Stats: 74 HP / 48 Atk / 76 Def / 83 SpA / 81 SpD / 104 Spe (466 Total)
Abilities: Keen Eye | Infiltrator | Prankster
Notable Moves:
- Reflect
- Light Screen
- Thunder Wave
- Psychic Noise
- Yawn
- Alluring Voice
- Future Sight
- Psychic
- Calm Mind
- Stored Power
- Trick
- Gravity (???)
- Psychic Terrain
- Expanding Force
- Nasty Plot
- Sunny Day
- Rain Dance

Pros:
- Meowstic-M is one of a few Pokemon with access to Prankster Dual Screens, letting it be an effective supporter.
- It actually gained some usable moves in its transition to gen 9.
- It a fuckign kity.
Cons:
- Subpar stats overall, except for decent Speed.
- For a special attacker, it's a bit lacking in Special Attack, being slightly weaker than special attacking staples like Zapdos-Galar, Slither Wing, and Cacnea.
- Pretty unimpressive typing.
- Movepool doesn't give it much of a niche over other screens setters like Grimmsnarl or Ninetales-Alola.
- It doesn't really have much unique about it at all. It kinda just sits there and is cute. To be fair, it is a cat.

Terastallize Potential:
- You should probably never Tera Meowstic-M.
- Tera Dark lets it take Dark and Ghost moves.
- Tera Fairy lets it resist Dragon-types in a pinch and provides other nice resists.
- Tera Fighting is usable on a set with Tera Blast, I guess.
- Tera Ghost can be used for incidental spinblocking.
- You should probably never Tera Meowstic-M.

Potential Sets:
Screens
Meowstic @ Light Clay / Eject Button
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: Dark / Fairy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Psychic Noise / Future Sight
- Yawn / Thunder Wave

Get up screens as quickly as possible and get out, and let your sweepers do their thing. Psychic Noise might be weak, but it at least guarantees that it doesn't become fodder for foes to heal up on, and guarantees a bit of progress. Future Sight is a move you can throw out before Meowstic dies to potentially put a sweeper in an even more favourable position later on. Yawn works similarly; use it the turn Meowstic faints, and the opponent needs to choose between letting their Pokemon fall asleep, or giving up a turn to a potential setup sweeper. Thunder Wave with Prankster is a great option for speed-controlling faster threats and potentially getting a free turn. Alluring Voice is an option on this set to chip down oncoming Dark types as this set would be pretty helpless against them otherwise. Eject Button is a means for Meowstic to maintain momentum while setting up screens, and it works well with delayed-impact moves like Yawn and Future Sight, but Light Clay is probably more consistent.

CAT OF EPIC SWEEPS
Meowstic (M) @ Kee Berry / Weakness Policy
Ability: Prankster
Tera Type: Fairy / Fighting
EVs: 252 HP / 32 Def / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Reflect / Psych Up / Thunder Wave
- Stored Power
- Alluring Voice / Tera Blast

Behold, my sweeping cat. CM + Stored Power with Fairy or Fighting coverage has been a staple of cheesy sweepers since the gen of Meowstic-M's introduction, but now it can be one too. Prankster lets you boost up your defenses with CM and Reflect (god, remember Barrier?) in the face of faster sweepers, so you can guarantee your item activation. Thunder Wave is fine if you want a side of cheesy utility with your cheesy sweeper and your cholesterol can take it. If you truly want to assert dominance, use Prankster Psych Up to copy the boosts of an opposing +6 CM mon before ending them with Stored Power. Oh, and the EVs let you outspeed Volcarona so you can outspeed it after you copy its Quiver Dance. Just don't calc what Bug Buzz does to it, its pretty depressing.

Other Options:
- The combination of Mean Look and Yawn can guarantee a sleep on a foe.
- Trick Room + Prankster Screens is a unique combo if you ignore the existence of Klefki.
- Gravity + Prankster Screens is a unique combo if you ignore the existence of Sableye, and want to use Gravity for some reason.
- Meowstic is the only mon with Prankster + manual Psychic Terrain. If you want a mon that supports your newfangled Expanding Force Deoxys-S or whatever the kids are running now you could probably use it? It gets Expanding Force too.
- Meowstic also has Manual Weather if you feel like using a really bad weather setter.
- You could use Choice Trick Meowstic, but that would require using Choice Trick Meowstic.

Overall:
Meowstic-M is HIM. I mean that only in the most literal fashion, as it's a male-only form. As a pokemon it's actually very bad compared to other screen setters, and Psychic-types, and even other cat mons, but at least it's better than Delcatty. Actually, it might not be, Normalize kinda slaps. Overall, I can't wait to not use Meowstic in PU. What do you think of Meowstic?

What do you think of Meowstic?
At least is better than her female counterpart and Delcatty. Seriously though, I swear Meowstic was just made so X/Y became a joke in terms of difficulty because your rival leads with this thing, spamming a 40 BP fairy move without priority and being an easy swords dance sweep, while also making you hate double battles with NPCs.
