Meta in doubt? U-turn out.

Hey guys, my first RMT for BW2. This will mainly be a quickie to get feedback for improvements. Will be pretty rough, but I will make it look better once I get some time to edit. Apologies in advance for not going much indepth into the EVs, but most are off the sites standard sets (and for good reason).

The teambuilding process for this team was mainly to give SD Lucario a try, while giving the support to him that could deal with the current top threats in the metagame. This meant looking for a solid answer to rainspam and keltar-i, while not giving up momentum. The way it worked out I had a volt-turn core without even trying, being one of the few weatherless strats that work.

Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
IVs: 2 Atk / 30 SAtk / 30 Spd
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Psyshock
- Draco Meteor
- Roost

I've never been a fan of Latias in an offensive mindset, always seemingly overshadowed by Latios' stronger attacks, but Latias works much better as a pivot that can also switch into the top threats in the metagame. Specs toed, Keldo, and Landorus-I are all things Latias can easily switch into, and force out. Unless they pack a ttar Latias will get off with none with wiser, just recovering off the damage. HP fire over surf since speedties are speedties and 50% doesn't really justify taking a worse move coverage wise; Draco Meteor will do more to ttar at any rate than a surf , though jirachi in rain is a pain. One too many scizors switching in on Latias' Draco to stick with surf. When speaking of ttar, that's where Lucario comes in later.

Scizor (M) @ Choice Band
Trait: Technician
EVs: 208 HP / 252 Atk / 48 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Pursuit
- Superpower
- U-turn

There's a reason scizor is number 1, and king of OU, he's possibly the easiest utility mon to place on any team. Scizor fits into this team to revenge kills things, dent things for lucario to sweep, trap weakened jellicent and Alakazam (lacking HP fire) with pursuit, or just to clean up whatever Lucario has left. Forms the scizor-rotom core we all love. I went with slightly more speed just so that jellicent wont ever be outspeeding this scizor, and it can u-turn on defensive toeds without getting hit by a scald; also speed creeps bandtar.

Jirachi @ Leftovers
Trait: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 224 SDef / 32 Spd
Careful Nature
- Body Slam
- Iron Head
- U-turn
- Wish

Part 1 of my defensive core, and my answer to lati@s, as well as being a good special sponge and momentum grabber. Wish works well with Landorus, Rotom, and Latias, all dodging earthquakes easily. Body slam over thunder-wave so lando-i gets no free switch-ins.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 200 HP / 58 Atk / 244 Def / 8 Spd
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Stealth Rock

Part 2 of the defensive core. Possibly the best answer to physical offensive mons like the likes of Sub Salac terrakion, and dragons. Stealth rock on landorus over Jirachi as landorus has less of a 4mss, and no volcarona or tentacruel switches in on a landorus. As usual, U-turn helps keep momentum, as any defensive mon without it in this meta is dead weight.

Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 28 SAtk / 232 SDef
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Rotom-W is the third part of my defensive core with Landorus and Jirachi, and my second water resist to give me more options to handle hydro spam. Rotom-W also forums a good volt-turn core with scizor, making sure skarmory trying to switch in on scizor wont be getting free hazards since this team has no spinner. The main job of Rotom-W is to weaken jellicents for scizor to pursuit trap, while dealing with rain is bonus. Let's just be honest, Rotom-W oozes talent, somehow finding its way onto every one of my teams.

Lucario @ Life Orb
Trait: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- ExtremeSpeed
- Bullet Punch

Get your brooms out, with Keltar-i being so prevalent in the current meta, Lucario is a great deterrent to Bandtar clicking pursuit on Latias. Bullet Punch over crunch since letting a defensive mon stop your sweep is a lot less scary than an offensive one like Terrakion, Kyu-B or Gengar doing it. The only things that really stop Lucario getting a full sweep, like jellicent, and Alakazam are able to be pressured or pursuit trapped by scizor.

Things to play around and watch out for:

- Volcarona - stealth rocks asap
- LO Mamoswine - Play around with resists, and try to get scizor or rotom in unharmed to force it out. Talk about russian roulette...
- Cress in sun - Fuck this thing, seriously.

Importable:

Hey there,

Great team, I love the psynergy going on between your mons, but I think that your three biggest problems would be your lack of a spinner on a volt-turn team, and your lack of a scarfer, and a glaring weakness to volcarona, and fire attacks in general.

Now the first problem, no spinner, isn't actually that big of a problem due to your team being pretty resistant to hazards, with every single mon either resisting rocks, or being immune to spikes, but with enough spikes, it could be a real problem for jirachi, scizor, and lucario. To fix this, I would try a standard donphan over lando-t:

Donphan @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Adamant Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Stealth Rock

The decision between Lando and Donphan is a tough one, as you have to pick between better bulk and a u-turn, or better overall team support, respectively.

The other issues are solved in one obvious and greatly beneficial change, and that is dropping lucario for a scarf Terrakion:

Terrakion @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake/Rock Slide
- X-Scissor

Lucario is just too fragile to set up successfully in this metagame, and it makes your team even weaker to Volcarona. Terrakion will make any Volcarona soil itself as soon as it comes in for the revenge kill or even while it sets up. Terrakion easily kills Volc even after a QD, and its an incredible late game cleaner. Terrakion even fulfills the role Lucario did in discouraging Ttar and pursuits by having justified as well.

Good luck, and I hope to hear that these suggestions help your team!

Hey there. This is a cool team and there are very few problems, so I won't have much to say. There are just a few Pokemon that pose minor threats to your team. First of all, as you mentioned, Volcarona is a huge threat to your team. It can Quiver Dance on both of your Steel-type Pokemon, Rotom-W in the sun (or even out if it is ballsy), and a -2 Latias and then proceed to wreck your team. Your Lucario and Scizor both have to suicide to try and kill it, but even then you may fail and get 6-0'd. Cresselia is a pretty annoying Pokemon too as you mentioned. It can wall your entire team and you lack an out to it in Sun. You basically have to crit it with U-turn, but sometimes they carry HP Fire and outspeed or they won't even stay in. Gastrodon is a funny Pokemon to be weak to; however, it can wall your entire team by switching into Rotom-W and Jirachi and firing off Scalds and Toxics. Other bulky Water-type Pokemon like Jellicent and Rotom-W are also threatening. You say Mamoswine is a threat, but I don't think it really is. Rotom-W is the best Mamoswine counter in the game, but if you find it troublesome, it is quite powerful. Opposing Gliscor and Landorus-T are rather troublesome since your Rotom-W is slower and they wall a good portion of your team. Gliscor especially gives you problems since it can Toxic stall Rotom-W can Latias at -2. Another ground-type in Garchomp gives you problems due to the fact that bulky sets are annoying to KO with all your wall-mons and it can break through Landorus-T. Toxicroak is growing more common and can break through Landorus-T with an Ice Punch while Latias can't OHKO it due to Sucker Punch and the rest of your team is fucked. Last but not least, the lack of a Choice Scarf user gives you a big headache against Pokemon like DD Dragonite, DD Salamence, etc.

Due to these problems, I have a few suggestions to help fix them. First of all, try out Thunder Wave instead of Will-o-Wisp on Rotom-W. Since SpDef Rotom-W can take any move Volcarona throws at it, Thunder Wave is a cool move to neuter it so another Pokemon can take it out with a strong STAB. Thunder Wave also neuters common switch-ins like Lati@s and Venusaur. The second suggestion I have is to bump up your speed stat on Landorus-T to 270 by running a 252 HP / 144 Def / 112 Spe spread with a +speed nature. This lets you outspeed Toxicroak and then OHKO it with Earthquake which neutralizes a major threat to your team. Thirdly, I would try out a Sash lead Breloom instead of Scizor. Breloom gives you an effective lead which you current lack while also giving you an out to Water-type Pokemon. You still have priority to OHKO Terrakion like Scizor, but Breloom can act as a lead while OHKO'ing Bulky-water types like Gastrodon unlike Scizor. The standard Swords Dance set should work, but try out a Max Spe Jolly nature Focus Sash set since you can outspeed or Speed tie things like Custap Skarmory, Sash Tyranitar, some Landorus-T, and other Breloom leads to give you the upper hand. Next, I would try out a Scarf Jirachi instead of SpDef. This gives you a Choice Scarf user to revenge kill things like Dragonite and it makes your team far more effective. A set of Iron Head / Trick / Ice Punch / U-turn with a max / max Jolly spread will work well. Trick gives you an out to opposing Cresselia as well so they can't wall your whole team endlessly. Obviously this requires smart play, but if you can Trick it, it cannot wall effectively. Lastly, I would use Hidden Power Ice and a Naive nature on Landorus-T. This lets you nail opposing Landorus-T, Gliscor, and Garchomp which are all threats to your team currently. With HP Ice you can nail them for solid damage and make a Lucario sweep happen with much more ease.

Good luck with your team.
