[SET COMMENTS]

  • Deoxys-A's exceptional offensive presence and difficulty to switch into is bolstered by Meteor Beam, making it an extremely potent glass cannon.
  • Meteor Beam boosts Deoxys-A’s monstrous Special Attack to a whopping 688, and with this move it is able to lure in traditional checks such as Ho-Oh and Yveltal and eliminate them. After gaining this boost, Deoxys-A now has the firepower to be able to KO such threats as Defensive Primal Groudon, Defensive Arceus formes, CM Defemsive Primal Kyogre, Zygarde, Necrozma-DM, and Giratina-O.
  • The Psychic STAB move of choice is dependent solely on what Deoxys-A's team needs. Psycho Boost is just generally reliable high damage output that doesn't rely on the boost from Meteor Beam to deal great damage, though the Special Attack drop tends to force Deoxys-A out. Psyshock allows Deoxys-A to hit special defensive walls such as Chansey and Blissey harder. Psychic allows you to deal relatively high damage after the boost from Meteor Beam. Psychic will deal more damage to Primal Groudon, Physically invested Defensive Arceus formes, and Zygarde. Expanding Force is used on Psyspam structures. With the boost from Psychic Terrain and your Special boost from Meteor Beam, Expanding Force can be able to land OHKO's on targets such as Zacian-C with only one layer of Spikes, a fully healthy Zygarde that has gained its Complete forme, and Giratina-A.
  • Power Herb is necessary to turn Meteor Beam from a two-turn charge move into a single-turn attack. This generally means Deoxys-A gets a single opportunity to set up in a match and must weigh its options on sacking itself or coming back later.
  • Focus Blast is a fully specially invested Deoxys-A’s only way of only dealing significant damage to Dark types such as Arceus-Dark, Yveltal, and Kingambit.
  • Shadow Ball is used exclusively with Tera Ghost for attacking Ghost- and other Psychic-type Pokemon that resist Deoxys-A's STAB moves such as Lunala, Necrozma-DM, Ultra Necrozma, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Giratina-O.
  • Dark Pulse is used for the same reasons as Shadow Ball is but can be used with different Tera types and also add a flinch chance to Deoxys-A’s favor.
  • A Timid nature is mandatory in order to outrun the entire unboosted metagame with the exception Pheromosa and Deoxys-S.
  • Tera Ghost increases Shadow Ball's damage output, allowing Deoxys after a boost, to either OHKO or heavily damage key threats such as Necrozma-DM and Lunala. +1 Tera Ghost Shadow Ball can OHKO offensive Necrozma-DM, and OHKO specially defensive Necrozma-DM after some chip. Tera Ghost also suppresses Deoxys-A's primary weakness in Extreme Speed from Extreme Killer Arceus and other variants of Arceus that carry the move. Extreme Killer Arceus is such a major thorn in Deoxys-A's side. It is a very popular choice and its priority just deletes Deoxys-A. Having an option to deny this threat is invaluable and is why Ghost is the first Tera type recommended.
  • Tera Psychic turns Deoxys-A's STAB moves into nearly nuclear options especially after a boost from Meteor Beam. For example, a +1 Tera Psychic Psycho Boost can OHKO defensive Arceus formes that take neutral damage from it. With the Special boost Deoxys-A acquires in a match via Meteor Beam, a +1 Tera Psychic Psycho Boost can even break defensive Ho-Oh.
  • Tera Normal suppresses Deoxys-A's weakness to Shadow Sneak from foes such as Marshadow and Giratina-O.
  • Meteor Beam Deoxys-A fits best on offensive teams that are looking for an all around powerful mid-to-late game wallbreaker and sweeper with the Speed to outrun nearly the entire unboosted metagame. It is an especially powerful choice for Psyspam teams. Teammates such as Dragon Dance Necrozma-DM, Ultra Necrozma, Dragon Dance Arceus-Ghost, Swords Dance Primal Groudon, Extreme Killer Arceus, Power Herb Lunala, and Mega Mewtwo Y appreciate its ability to KO or at least deal significant damage to common checks in Yveltal and Arceus-Dark.
  • Sticky Web support from teammates like Smeargle, Shuckle, and Ribombee helps Deoxys-A threaten common anti-offense sets like Dragon Dance Ultra Necrozma and Dragon Dance Arceus formes, allowing it to outrun them even when they're boosted.
  • Despite its natural advantage with its movepool, Deoxys-A can struggle in dealing with Ho-Oh, Eternatus, Yveltal, and Lunala if they still have access to Terastallization. Being able to call some of these with Focus Blast or a safe switch helps Deoxys-Attack live to attack later. Deoxys-A also struggles with KO'ing Yveltal and Ho-Oh if Meteor Beam has already been used in the match.

[SET COMMENTS]
  • Deoxys-Attack is a very dangerous Pokemon and for generations has been a very hard Pokemon for many in Ubers to switch into. Its pure special attacking set has, for generations, been solely reliant on Life Orb or Choice Specs to maximize damage output. The addition of Meteor Beam in Gen 9 has opened a new set for Deoxys-Attack to abuse. I see what you mean here but generally analyses shouldn't talk about the Pokemon's role in past generations or what other sets do. Also GP doesn't like the word "abuse" Deoxys-A's exceptional offensive presence and difficulty to switch into is bolstered by Meteor Beam, making it an extremely potent glass cannon.
  • Meteor Beam boosts Deoxys-Attack’s monstrous Special Attack to a whopping 688, and with this move it is able to lure in old traditional checks to Deoxys-Attack targets such as Ho-Oh and Yveltal and eliminate them from the game. Mention foes the Special Attack boost lets Deoxys-A OHKO
  • The Psychic STAB move of choice is dependent solely on what your team requires of Deoxys-Attack what Deoxys-A's team needs. "your" should generally not be used Psycho Boost is just generally reliable high damage output that doesn't rely on the boost from Meteor Beam to deal great damage to neutral and super effective targets, though the Special Attack drop tends to force Deoxys-A out. Psyshock allows Deoxys-Attack to hit special defensive walls such as Chansey and Blissey harder. Psychic allows you to deal relatively high damage after the boost from Meteor Beam and doesn't have the drawback of Special drop. So does all these other moves, so it doesn't make sense to only mention it here. Mention calcs where Psychic is preferred over Psyshock Expanding Force is for when using this set within used on Psychic Terrain usually within a Psyspam structures. Mention OHKOes Expanding force can reach, and how spammable it is there
  • Power Herb is necessary to turn Meteor Beam from a two-turn charge move into a single-turn attack. This generally means Deoxys-Attack gets a single opportunity to set up in a match and must weigh its options on sacking itself or coming back later.
  • Focus Blast is a fully specially invested Deoxys-Attack’s only way only dealing significant damage to Dark types that resist or are neutral to most of its movepool Self-explanatory such as Arceus-Dark, Yveltal, and Kingambit.
  • Shadow Ball is used mainly for attacking Ghost- and other Psychic-type Pokemon that resist Deoxys-Attack's STAB moves such as Lunala, Dusk Mane Necrozma-DM, Ultra Necrozma, Mega Mewtwo Y, and Origin-Giratina-O. Mention that Shadow Ball must be used with Tera Ghost.
  • Dark Pulse is used for the same reasons as Shadow Ball is but can be used with different Tera types and also add a flinch chance to Deoxys-Attack’s favors.
  • A Timid nature is mandatory in order to outrun the entire unboosted metagame with the exception Pheromosa, and Deoxys-Speed. It only Speed ties with its own mirror. It requires the base 90s to be at +1 to outrun it.
  • Tera Ghost increases Shadow Ball's damage output, allowing Deoxys after a boost, to either OHKO or tear a hole in heavily damage key threats such as Dusk Mane Necrozma-DM and Lunala. +1 Tera Ghost Shadow Ball can OHKO offensive variants of Dusk Mane Necrozma-DM, acheive an OHKO on 252 HP alone after one layer of Spikes, and has a 75 chance to OHKO a maxed Special Defense set with a critical hit. and OHKO specially defensive Necrozma-DM after some chip.
  • Tera Ghost also suppresses Deoxys-Attack's primary weakness in Extreme Speed from Extreme Killer Arceus and other variants of Arceus that carry the move. Add this to the previous point, and emphasize why this is such a major selling point: E-Killer Arceus is terrifying and priority Extreme Speed murders Deo-A. Also, explain this is why we use Tera Ghost.
  • Tera Psychic turns Deoxys-Attack's STABs moves into nearly nuclear options especially after a boost from Meteor Beam. For example, a +1 Tera Psychic Psycho Boost can has a 75 chance to OHKO a full Special Defensive defensive Arceus formes that takes neutral damage from it. Most defensive Arceus formes don't go max max, so this is a more relevant calc to mention. Also mention +1 tera Psychic Psycho Boost having odds to OHKO defensive Ho-Oh.
  • Tera Normal suppresses Deoxys-Attack's weakness to Shadow Sneak from foes such as Marshadow and Giratina-O.
  • Meteor Beam Deoxys fits best on offensive teams that are looking for an all around powerful mid-to-late game wallbreaker and sweeper with the Speed to outrun nearly the entire unboosted metagame. It is an especially has priority in abuser powerful choice for Psyspam teams. Teammates such as Dragon Dance Dusk Mane Necrozma-DM, Ultra Necrozma, Dragon Dance Arceus-Ghost, Swords Dance Primal Groudon, and Extreme Killer Arceus appreciate it's its ability to kill KO or at least deal significant damage to common checks in Foul Play Yveltal All Yveltal can mess with this set tbf and Arceus-Dark. Mention teammates specific to PsySpam too
  • Sticky Web support from teammates like Smeargle, Shuckle, and Ribombee helps Deoxys-Attack's threaten common anti-offense sets like Dragon Dance Ultra Necrozma, and Dragon Dance Arceus formes, allowing it to outrun and deal major damage to or revenge to them them even when they're boosted.
  • Despite its natural advantage with its movepool, Deoxys-Attack can struggle in dealing with Ho-Oh, Eternatus, Yveltal, and Lunala if they still have access to Terastallization. Mention that it struggles to get past Ho-Oh and Yveltal if it has already used Meteor Beam Any stray Steel or Dark tera usually spells its death. Self-explanatory Being able to call some of these with Focus Blast or a safe switch helps Deoxys-Attack live to attack later.

[SET COMMENTS]

  • Deoxys-A's exceptional offensive presence and difficulty to switch into is bolstered by Meteor Beam, making it an extremely potent glass cannon. Mention its high Speed tier somewhere here
  • Meteor Beam boosts Deoxys-A’s monstrous Special Attack to a whopping 688, and with this move it is able to lure in traditional checks such as Ho-Oh and Yveltal and eliminate them. After gaining this boost, Deoxys-A now has the firepower to be able to OHKO such threats as Defensive Primal Groudon, Defensive Arceus formes, CM Defemsive Primal Kyogre, Zygarde, Necrozma-DM, and Giratina-O.
Psyshock allows Deoxys-A to hit special defensive walls such as Chansey and Blissey harder Anything else besides those two? If not I'd suggest to remove this move from the set as then it'd be too niche, of course, also reword the section for Psychic accordingly if there isn't anything else of note that Psyshock hits, and no, Ho-Oh isn't one as it's not OHKOed. Psychic allows you it to deal relatively high damage after the boost from Meteor Beam.
Self explanatory, this doesn't need a bullet point
  • Focus Blast is a fully specially invested Deoxys-A’s only way of only dealing significant damage to Dark types such as Arceus-Dark, Yveltal, and Kingambit. Remember that an analysis is meant to be in a vacuum, meaning that the talk should only pertain this set in particular beyond bluffing
Self explanatory, no need for a bullet point for this
  • Tera Ghost increases Shadow Ball's damage output, allowing Deoxys after a boost, to either OHKO or heavily damage key threats such as Necrozma-DM and Lunala. +1 Tera Ghost Shadow Ball can OHKO offensive Necrozma-DM, and OHKO specially defensive Necrozma-DM after some chip. Tera Ghost also suppresses Deoxys-A's primary weakness in Extreme Speed from Extreme Killer Arceus, add comma and other variants of Arceus that carry the move. No other forme runs that here Extreme Killer Arceus is such a major thorn in Deoxys-A's side. It is a very popular choice and its priority just deletes Deoxys-A. Having an option to deny this threat is invaluable and is why Ghost is the first Tera type recommended. which is a popular Pokemon that can be easily used to OHKO Deoxys-A otherwise. The wording originally used for this was a bit misleading, verbose, and redundant.
  • Tera Psychic turns Deoxys-A's STAB moves into nearly nuclear options especially after a boost from Meteor Beam. For example, a +1 Tera Psychic Psycho Boost can OHKO defensive Arceus formes that take neutral damage from it. With the Special boost Deoxys-A acquires in a match via Meteor Beam, a +1 Tera Psychic Psycho Boost can even break , and defensive Ho-Oh after minimal chip.
  • Sticky Web support from teammates like Smeargle, and Shuckle, and Ribombee Ribombee isn't even ranked in the VR helps Deoxys-A threaten common anti-offense sets like Dragon Dance Ultra Necrozma and Dragon Dance Arceus formes, allowing it to outrun them even when they're boosted.
Mention allies that mitigate those flaws
