Mew Discussion thread

I like this support set a lot

Mew@leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 HP/252 Spe/4 Defense

Taunt
WoW
Roost
Psychic

Pretty much the same as the OP but Max out Speed instead so I can WoW faster Physical attackers
God I love Mew

Seriously, use the physically defensive CM Mew that I posted in this thread. That is my main match winner and flat out walls teams completely after a couple of CM boosts. It's my favourite set of any Pokemon in all of UU.

The Taunt/WoW/Roost set is flat out nasty to fight against though :\

Mew can do the transform shenanigans.

This is something that really sets it apart from other support/wall pokemon.
Not sure what set of moves to go for..

Obviously transform and a recovery move, maybe taunt and then a support move like stealth rock or toxic.

Uh, any ideas?

The problem with Transform Mew is that it lacks the DW ability that made Ditto so viable. If you're coming in on something with boosts already, you're going to ave to spend a turn transforming, which will probably kill you. If you're using Transform on something without any boosts, then the set's really only viable if you're copying something that the rest of their team is weak to.

On the subject of Transform, tho. I forget the details, since I never use DW Ditto, but it copies all stats/boosts except HP, right? Assuming I'm not making that up, imagine an Eviolite Dusclops with tons of HP sitting there like a boss. And yes, I'm aware of the holes in that strategy. But it's just. so. BULKY. haha

Edit: Oh yeah, my point. Mew has better things to do than play dress-up imo

Works pretty well as a lead. Can either transform and set up hazards (Donphan?), or Trick the opposing lead, forcing it to switch out, allowing you to use Transform to scout the opponent's moveset You could also just Taunt, but that means you'll be locked into it. Roost is for recovery while Taunt prevents slower leads from using Taunt. Really, that's the main use of Taunt on this set.

The strategydex recommends using softboiled on the support set. It doesn't really matter whether you use softboiled or roost though, right?

Right. There is no difference between using Softboiled rather than Roost, other than in extremely contrived circumstances.

Actually, I like Roost a little more, if only because its mechanics in specific situations are more mysterious. Because of that, someone might hypothetically enable Gravity or whatever, thinking that that prevents you from healing. It's kinda like Male vs Female or Return vs Frustration; It just won't matter as you play more experienced players.

Usually Roost is preferred for a different reason: in cartridge, Roost Mew is a lot easier to get because Softboiled is a Gen3 Tutor Move only. But Roost is Gen 4 TM, and it's significantly easier to just teach it Roost. But assuming you're playing in PO, do whatever.
