Minesweeper Thread

I'd say Voltorb Flip has way more 50% chances through out it. And I'd agree that it's easier I've gotten to like, level 10 on Voltorb Flip but never beaten expert on Minesweeper. In my defense, I've only tried expert, maybe 3 times, but that is no excuse!

the first time it did that thing "Is that what you're expecting?!" i about had a heart attack

Yeah that happens to me more recently when I have to do the 50/50 thing. When I started playing VF I didn't even know what had happened...and then I would lose.

It only goes up to level 8.

Then I've beaten level 8 like three times straight... My point is even on the higher levels you get really easy hints of full rows of voltorbs and the like.

I like the version found here (search for "mines.exe"). That version makes sure that the whole board can be solved with deduction alone, without ever having to guess, so you can't blame luck for your failures.

I've beaten this version on all the available settings, but I have yet to beat any level on Windows' version apart from beginner.

I didn't know it was possible to not know how to play Minesweeper, it is a really easy game up until you're forced into guessing scenarios. And Voltorb Flip is much harder than Minesweeper, beating Expert isn't difficult but I never excelled in that not-a-Game-Corner

Fuck. One mine left. 50/50 chance.

Edit: I did it!
I'm pretty sure most versions of the game don't allow large "blocks" of mines to spawn. There's a few limits that prevent square blocks on boundaries. I haven't read the coding extensively but there's a few limits like that on non-custom game modes that always makes them "possible". Or maybe that's just my particular version. If not, I'd say if you got that far, and guessed wrong it's a "win".

I can't say I'm a huge fan of minesweeper, especially after watching the College humor parody (which is just brilliant). But if I play a game on the computer, it's normally chess.

Most versions? This is Minesweeper. Not Super Minesweeper Deluxe: The Return of the Smiley Face. And you definitely do get things, that make it so when you get to harder difficulties you almost always have to face guessing scenarios and mines can group up or spread out randomly

Think about it. The first turn is a guessing scenario. It'd be awesome if they just automatically found a huge hole to start with though.
