Minimum post count before making a thread

Hi. I have a fairly simple idea that I feel should be implemented. Like the title says, having a required minimum post count, say 10 posts, should be a requirement before being able to post a thread. This would severely limit the amount of spam in forums, such as bot ads for those weird weight loss things hat have terrible grammar, as well as those random one liner questions from newer users. I feel that this would also improve the quality of discussions, as more people would be posting to get up their post count so they can post their first RMT, which can lead to them knowing what is and isn't good in a tier.

I don't really see any downsides to this and I feel that this is something that ever forum should implement. Thanks.

If it's possible to limit it to certain forums then this could be a good idea. Subforums like Discipline Appeals run with new users creating threads.
Yeah I guess that could be a thing. I just listed the general idea so that at least something can be done about all these pointless threads. Iirc, I think a feature like this exists, though it's a vBulletin forum so idk if Xenforo has his as well.

Unfortunately, some forums get more spammed by bots than others (like mentorship) and limiting post count just isn't an option there. Capcha could maybe be updated to be even stronger though but idk I think it's fine as it is. But I think for Smogon to be welcoming, having a post count rule isn't really great, plus it encourages people to make useless posts to try to reach that goal. :c
