Other Misthos League Fairy Gym

Hello everyone! This is my first post to the Smogon forums, and I guess it's fitting that it's an RMT. I'm in a little thing called the Misthos League, a group with rules like any other Pokemon League, except that gym leaders are allowed one Pokemon which does not fit their type. I've put together a little team here and I'd like you guys to take a look at it. Thanks a bunch!

Altaria @ Altarianite
Ability: Cloud Nine
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Return
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw
- Earthquake

I chose Altaria because as far as a fairy type mega goes, Altaria is a no brainer. Fairy types don't have much access to physical attackers, so Altaria is here to add a bit of balance. The D Dance set is fairly standard, with Return to capitalize on Pixilate, Dragon Claw as an alternate STAB to hit the dragon types that hurt this team, and EQ to take care of Altaria's weaknesses to steel and poison. I maxed out attack and speed because Altaria needs it, and the 4 SpD just gives a slight amount of extra bulk. Adamant nature allows it to hit as hard as possible.

Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Belly Drum
- Aqua Jet
- Waterfall
- Play Rough

Ah yes, Azumaril. Azumaril is the reason I chose to run a fairy team. It has decent bulk, and it hits like a truck even with the low powered aqua jet. Belly Drum is to max out attack in one turn, and is run on this set because it's fairly standard. Aqua jet lets Azu hit faster threats and finish off others who are also running priority. Waterfall is for the Pokemon that Azumaril has no need to outspeed, and Play Rough is simply an alternate STAB. The HP investment ensures that Azu is getting the maximum return out of its Sitrus Berry after the Belly Drum, and the attack and adamant nature ensure that can OHKO just about anything.

Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Spikes
- Thunder Wave
- Magnet Rise
- Play Rough

I included Klefki on this team because it's one of the best supports in the entire Pokedex. It is immune to poison, a common threat, and becomes immune to ground on turn one thanks to Prankster Magnet Rise. Thunder Wave is used to cripple enemy sweepers, and spikes is to weaken enemy teams drastically. Play rough is just for Klefki to be able to actually hurt something. The EV spread is designed to make Klefki as bulky as possible so it can set up a full stack of Spikes before it gets KO'd.

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Cosmic Power
- Stored Power
- Moonlight
- Aromatherapy

I added Clefable to keep setup sweepers like mega zard x from being too much trouble to deal with. Cosmic Power is to max my defenses before the opponent realizes that this is an Unaware Clefable, not a Magic Guard one. Aromatherapy is for when they finally realize their mistake. Stored Power is to capitalize on the maxed out defenses in the form of sheer attack power. Moonlight is simply for reliable recovery. The EV spread leaves Clefable bulky, but lets it hit hard enough to take out the sweepers it's designed to hit. With the Cosmic Power set up, it doesn't need much investment in its defenses. It can't touch Bisharp, but that's what Zygarde is for.

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball

Sylveon is on this team as a special attacking semi-sweeper. CM lets it raise its power levels high enough to be useful, and gives it some added bulk. Hyper Voice capitalizes on the boost from Pixilate, and Psyshock hits special walls such as Tentacool which otherwise wall it. Shadow ball is primarily to counter Mega Metagross and Aegislash, as Aegislash is not banned in the league for which this team is being built. The EV spread simply allows Sylveon to do its job and the leftovers provide it with much needed recovery.

Zygarde @ Life Orb
Ability: Aura Break
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake
- Outrage
- Extreme Speed

Last but not least, we have Zygarde. I've always been a fan of dragon/ground typing, and Zygarde is here mostly as a reflection of that, but also because it serves as a decent counter to fairy weaknesses. I chose Zygarde over Flygon or Garchomp because it has access to both Dragon Dance and Extremespeed which the other two lack. EQ and Outrage serve as powerful STAB options, and Extreme Speed is to finish off weakened opponents. The EV Spread allows Zygarde to maximize on its mediocre-at-best stats, and the Life Orb serves to help with that.

Hello Rakem , and welcome to Smogon!

Unfortunately, this RMT is currently not following the rules which can be found in the RMT Resource Thread; specifically, this thread violates rule #4, because you lack sufficient descriptions for each Pokemon on your team. As such, I am afraid that I will have to lock this thread for the time being. If you would like this thread to be reopened, feel free to PM me with your updated RMT, and I would be happy to reopen this thread for you. If you need help making an RMT up to the required standards, I recommend that you carefully read the RMT Resource Thread and check out other RMTs from the Team Showcase and RMT Archive for some examples.

Good luck with your team, and have a nice day!

Edit: reopened!

Hello Rakem
Since you limit yourself to one type I will consider this a monotype team, however note that Zygarde and Altaria would both be considered non fairy pokemon by monotype rules, since it is the base form that counts.

For Altaria I would recommend a set that looks like:

Altaria @ Altarianite
Ability: Cloud Nine
EVs: 248 HP / 136 Def / 96 SpD / 28 Spe
Impish Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Roost
- Return
- Heal Bell

This is the king ddd set from the smog dex, defensive altaria is a huge threat in monotype (so much that it was banned) and mono attacking sets fare better in monotype since the teams are of one type. (http://www.smogon.com/dex/xy/pokemon/altaria/)

Since this is a fairy team I would recommend switching play rough > foul play on klefki, since Scizor is one of the biggest threats in regular monotype to fairy, and foul play helps by chipping it if it chooses to swords dance, and this is a fairy mono with fairy moves already.

I also recommend changing Clefable to look something like this. (Also stolen from smogdex http://www.smogon.com/dex/xy/pokemon/clefable/)

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Moonlight
- Heal Bell / Flamethrower

It is best to maximize defense and use calm mind to reach insane special defense levels. Moonblast is a better attack however, as it does not require as many boosts as stored power does. Heal Bell and Aromatherapy are basically the same, but flamethrower is slashed on there to be able to hit things like scizor.

Clefable cannot deal with Mega Charizard X, as an offensive set still 2hkos. Your new counter is the defensive Mega Altaria set which survives a +1 Mega Charizard X flare blitz and is immune to outrage.

252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Charizard X Flare Blitz vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Unaware Clefable: 229-271 (58.2 - 68.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+1 252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Charizard X Flare Blitz vs. 248 HP / 136+ Def Mega Altaria: 144-171 (40.7 - 48.4%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
+1 252 Atk Mega Charizard X Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 136+ Def Mega Altaria: 121-143 (34.2 - 40.5%) -- guaranteed 3HKO

Another pokemon using a set up move is probably not the best option, so it might be best to change sylveon to either a Choice Specs attacker or to a Defensive Togekiss. (http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/monotype-viability-rankings.3517737/page-58#post-6372654)

Sylveon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 240 HP / 252 SpA / 16 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power Fire
- Baton Pass

Or

Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 224 Def / 36 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder Wave / Encore
- Roost
- Air Slash
- Defog

Sylveon will add more firepower to your team, while Togekiss adds defog and a nice switch in for ground attacks (also frees up magnet rise on klefki if you want to use something else).

As for the final pokemon I would recommend a Heatran as your final pokemon. If you choose to go with Togekiss it will form a nice defensive core, as Heatran supports the team by switching into 4x resisted Steel moves and is immune to Poison, while Togekiss is immune to Ground and 4x resists Fighting.

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpA
Mild Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earth Power
- Lava Plume
- Stealth Rock

A semi standard offensive Heatran.
Stone Edge hits harder than Ancient Power on pokemon like Volcarona and Charizard Y, pokemon Heatran can check especially if Charizard doesn't have Focus Blast. Earth Power helps by hitting Poison types and Lava Plume has a nice burn chance along with hitting other Steel types. Stealth Rocks are there to be set if you want to use a hazard against flying teams or just want to hazard stack.

tl;dr

Altaria @ Altarianite
Ability: Cloud Nine
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe -> 248 HP / 136 Def / 96 SpD / 28 Spe
Adamant -> Impish Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Dragon Claw -> Roost
- Return / Frustration
- Earthquake -> Heal bell/Refresh

Klefki @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Spikes
- Thunder Wave
- Magnet Rise
- Play Rough -> Foul Play

Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD -> 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
- Cosmic Power -> Calm Mind
- Stored Power -> Moonblast
- Moonlight
- Aromatherapy/Flamethrower

Sylveon @ Leftovers -> Choice Specs
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD -> 240 HP / 252 SpA / 16 Spe
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Calm Mind -> Hidden Power Fire
- Shadow Ball -> Baton Pass

Or switch Sylveon out for:

Togekiss @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 248 HP / 224 Def / 36 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunder Wave / Encore
- Roost
- Air Slash
- Defog

And replace Zygarde with

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 SpA
Mild Nature
- Stone Edge
- Earth Power
- Lava Plume
- Stealth Rock
