M&M Mix and Mega

1766194301148.png

As a result of two unanimous council votes,
Lucarionite Z and Malamarite have been banned from Mix and Mega

It seemed very likely from the moment the stat and abilities were revealed, but after having given it a few days it's obvious that they are simply too strong for the mix and mega metagame. We're keeping an eye on some other stones, particularly Zygardite, but thus far the presence of these two stones has been sufficiently strong that it's difficult to determine the impact of other options.

Tagging dhelmise to implement.

I haven't played much MnM until the end of the generation oops so I'm here to share one of my favorite combos with a new stone.

1766541408238.png

Behold, the team check! Fairy/Steel is very good with Levitate, and its one of the safest mons to face down a +2 Zygardite Deo-S, +1 Battle Bond Zygardite Greninja, and other nuclear bombs of special attackers, while having entry opportunities against the -ate stone forms of Tusk, Landorus forms, Dragonite, and more. Levitate means it skips on Spikes damage, it resists Stealth Rock, is immune to Toxic and Poison (and for that point basically turns off Pecharunt entirely, and doesn't mind the presence of Eternatus) and doesn't really care if it gets paralyzed as its speed isn't anything special. I like Stored Power in the last slot instead of running WishTect, in spite of Blue Orb/Drizzle strats, because it lets Florges do VERY good damage in Calm Mind wars, and means burning Moonblast PP isn't as big of an issue. It also means there's a way to threaten Entei/Ho-Oh on the incoming if they're paralyzed/if Florges is already boosted, and a way to meaningfully harm Chimechite poisons like Pecharunt.

+2 252 SpA Zygardte Deoxys-Speed Psycho Boost vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Chimechite Florges: 200-236 (55.5 - 65.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+2 252 SpA Zygardite Deoxys-Speed Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Chimechite Florges: 229-270 (63.6 - 75%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
+1 252 SpA Zygardite Greninja Hydro Pump vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Chimechite Florges: 244-288 (67.7 - 80%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

is it probably not good? yes, but I all of like Florges, wanted a way to bully Zygardite Deo-S players, and thought Chimechite is really cool and awesome and I wish it was in MnM from its debut.

delphoxite.png
Delphoxite (+45 Special Attack, +25 Special Defense, +30 Speed | Blaze | N/A | N/A)
funnily enough, someone on ladder was running Delphoxite Chi-Yu, who lives juuuuust enough attacks to get into Blaze range, clicks Nasty Plot, then threatens OHKOs against anything that's in front of it.

please do something about zygardite or deo-s that shit is so unfair man

Does anyone have any sample teams with the new stones?:)
i gotchu

:florges: :pecharunt: :great-tusk: :eternatus: :deoxys-speed: :entei:
Can't say it's particularly good, but I've also gone on a 14 game win streak and haven't lost yet with it, and now hit 1400s, so...

tldr:
- :florges: hard walls a lot of mons (said in post above) and can regularly 1v1 all of the CM Stored Power abusers with its absurd spdef, even Magearna isn't safe
- :pecharunt: turns off phys attackers and has 1v1'd way too many mons in last mon situations, pairs well with levitate Florges/Sinistcha
- :great-tusk: obligatory hazard removal, Temper Flare means levitate Magearna really shouldn't set up on Headlong in fear of blowing up, and Headlong threatens non-levitate Magearna. Spin with Flying type is safe as hell. Only problem is IDef Magearna, which usually results in a panic send in Florges and pray it wins the 1v1.
- :eternatus: clicks toxic spikes and makes fires lives hell. thats it. rocky helmet puts in lots of work vs Urshifu as well, which is nice. also can poke at non-Heatranite/Chandelurite Magearna, but also can't fight either of those stones on it
- :deoxys-speed: deserves to get banned or zygardite getting banned this mon is NOT okay, doesn't even need to click NP most of the time due to threatening approximately everything. Dark Pulse is for Ghosts/Absolite Z mons, Ice Beam hurts dragons but could prolly be replaced by tbolt if needed, and psyshock bullies the Sablenite Blisseys I've been seeing
- :entei: means opposing Altarianite espeeders, esp regieleki, can't stay in, offers a fire resist that threatens things like Ho-Oh with Stone Edge, and can spread burns via Sacred Fire letting Sinistcha/florg/deos sweep.

other team options I've tried:
- :sinistcha: Floettite stonewalls Altarianite espeeders not named Entei (who can't even OHKO with Sacred Fire and gets Strength Sapped,) can't be statused by Arceus forms/Toxic Spikes/Toxic thanks to Flower Veil, and can fight a lot of mons Florges can't besides Fires. Competes for a team slot with Florges and (to an extent) Pecharunt for role of Calm Mind, physically bulky special attacker. Fantastic user of an otherwise pretty bad stone.
- :ogerpon-hearthflame: not actually using Hearthflame Oger, but the mask. Mask on Tusk means it clicks Headlong vs all the head empty Chimechite users who firmly believe in their god given right to be immune to ground-type moves, and can click Stealth Rock on Magic Bounce users. Pairs very, VERY well with Sinistcha for anti-ground coverage.
- :arceus-water: fights Fires extremely easily, spreads burns, can click Calm Mind if feeling aggressive vs. Magearna, but also means you give the freest entry for Raging Bolt on the planet. If Arc still had defog, it'd be an autoinclude over Tusk.
- :regieleki: Pinsirite replaces Deo-S, also drops Great Tusk for any of Sinistcha, Arc-Water, Hamurott, etc etc etc, could even replace Entei instead and run Altarianite. Combines speed control, Rapid Spin, and fast threatening pivots into a single slot, but is very not good at doing huge damage, and can struggle w/ the new bulky stones like Scolipite. Gives the team much more flexibility though, but losing Zygardite Deo-S is a shame with how insane it is.

I made a document with all the data for the items and the stats/types/abilities they give, including the DLC stones! It should be much easier now to find the stone you're looking for!

This list is based on my initial impressions since freed, things could change for better or worse for each stone though.
I feel really bad for those D-tier mons and even the C ones. I understand using real data we have to refer to when giving them abilities, but surely we can make these poor mons slightly more viable by just giving them a different ability that the already get?
Like Starmie literally gets a pointless ability that does nothing, surely Analytic would be better or even Natural Cure?

I've read these base abilities are just "placeholders", is there no way of making these placeholders hold other abilities that these mons naturally get?

Just my 2 cents, but please do tell me I'm wrong and that I shouldn't even be asking this, cause if it's not a reasonable question to ask, I do apologise! xD
