Introduction

Hello there and welcome to my first RMT. After climbing the ladder and reaching the number 3 spot on it, I figured it would be the best time to share the team that got me so high up. The team came around from curiosity as to how stall and Moltres are in the current meta.
Team:
moltres.gif

Moltres @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 32 Def / 228 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Roost
- Flamethrower
- Toxic
Moltres serves as a glue to check mons that are otherwise very difficult to handle such as specs Sylveon, CM Florges, CB Entei, Heracross. The goal of the set is to spread status with all the switches it causes while being able to PP stall clerics like Sylveon and Florges. Most importantly, Moltres tends to keep momentum going due to the pressure it creates by either being able to hit something decently hard without investment or being able to cripple its checks.

tentacruel.gif

Tentacruel @ Leftovers
Ability: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 240 HP / 244 Def / 24 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Scald
- Acid Spray

Tentacruel has so many great utility options to pass up. By using Moltres, rapid spin is a complete necessity, while by using stall, Toxic spikes are a huge bonus. Acid spray allows cruel to force switches and helps the team check various threats, especially any mon with rest, and just helps with shuffling in general. The combination of its good defensive typing, speed, and decent bulk allow it to come in and spin on a good variety of mons and has good matchups vs spinblockers in the tier.

doublade.gif

Doublade @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Shadow Claw
- Iron Head
- Shadow Sneak
With Toxic spikes, a spin blocker is a no brainer. Doublade was the last mon to be added but really fixed up many of the patches by aiding the difficulty this team had with physical attackers such as Lucario, Snorlax, Cobalion, Gyarados, CB crobat, Slurpuff and Mega Beedrill. Shadow Claw was chosen over Sacred Sword mainly to be able to hit bulky waters a bit harder. With the opponently team constantly getting gradually weakened, sweeping can be very easy and with its bulk it can set up with ease, usually multiple times per match.

blissey.gif

Blissey @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 8 HP / 252 Def / 248 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Wish
- Soft-Boiled
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic

Blissey, the infamous pink blob we all know and love. Wish passing is nice since both doublade and cruel get worn down very easily. Aside from checking most special attackers, Blissey's goal is to PP stall any other clerics that Moltres doesn't beat (mainly Umbreon). Toxic was chosen becasue it was the only way for Blissey to check certain mons (such as Porygon-Z). To sum her up, she heals, widdles and sponges.

sylveon.gif

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hyper Voice
- Wish
- Protect
- Heal Bell

Sylveon serves as the teams cleric and a secondary wish passer since half the team wears down quick. Sylveon was chosen over Florges due to superior bulk, bigger wish passes and a stronger STAB that goes through sub if need be. Salamence and dark type check of the team and more importantly is able to pressure and dent opposing team with Hyper Voice. Protect is great for scouting, since most of the teams ability to check a mon depends on their item+moveset. Heal bell is neccessary on a team so vulnerable to status but was placed on Sylveon instead of on Blissey since it has offensive presence to force switches and needs toxic far less.

swampert-mega.gif

Swampert @ Swampertite
Ability: Damp
EVs: 240 HP / 16 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Scald
- Earthquake
- Roar
The team originally started with mega Aggron but in a meta with offensive fire types and many physical threats, a bulky water that is bulkier than tentacruel is needed. Pert has easy setting up rocks and with dual wish support, can be extremely hard to take down. Pert checks mamo and conk both being big threats and is decently strong even without investment. Scald offers utility vs mons that tend to be difficult to wear down like forretress and salamence. Phazing is always nice for messing with momentum.

Crawdaunt- No real answer to it if Tspikes aren't up.

Reuiniclus- not all to common but CM with shadow ball and psyshock 6-0's

SubCM Chandelure- Without tspikes, team struggles to break sub and ko

NP lucario- Moltres can check depending on set but nonetheless is not the best check

Mamoswione- LO makes large dents in team. Pert is 3ko and Moltres can revenge but a big threat regardless.

NP Porygon-Z-Can be stalled out but means losing blissey

Conclusion
After solely using this team to ladder, I have to say I am very impressed with how it fairs in practice. Moltres being something i wanted to try out ended up being I believe makes this team so effective. It's ability to stall out multiple mons is great but what truly has surprised me is its ability to stall out mons that check the burning chicken. There isn't much preparation for a team like this which is why i feel like is part of why its so effective but the point is is that this team is effective. Well that's all I've got to say, try the team out and let me know what you think :)

Hey dude, prety cool team, just a nitpick :: isn't your team threatened by pretty uncommon sub cm chandy like a lot. It sets up on blissey, your main special wall and once behind a sub, it can be a issue as it chips about 60% of swampert and tentacruel with +1 shadow ball. And if behind a sub even moltress isn't that useful against it as it can't toxic anymore and gets bopped around 70%. I don't exactly know how to correct it, but I suppose you can use umbreon over sylvi, but it kind of makes weaker to fighting spam, so I am blank :(.
Anyways, great team and good luck :o)

Hey ThePotatoFairy, interesting team you have here! Your team certainly has a strong defensive backbone as well as the necessary pressure that are both key elements of a semistall team, so I commend you on your sound teambuilding. Onto the rate:

  • Set-up sweepers in general are a little annoying for this team to face, i.e. something like Crocune is only forced out by Mega-Swampert's Roar, and this is very risky since it takes a fair amount of chip damage as well as the potential burn in the process. I'd personally remedy this by replacing Acid Spray with Haze on Tentacruel, since this combined with Wish support really makes it more difficult for said set-up sweepers to have an impact on the game
  • Another change I'd recommend is changing Shadow Claw to Sacred Sword on Doublade, as this ensures that you win 1v1 vs Curse + 2 attacks Snorlax, which can also give the team a bit of a headache. Running Shadow Claw to deal with bulky waters more easily isn't all too necessary in my opinion since you already have the necessary stopgaps to deal with said bulky waters.
  • I can see why you have both Wish and Softboiled on Blissey, but as Sylveon's base HP is high enough to support the rest of your team with it's own Wish, I'd advise changing Wish to Stealth Rock on Blissey, and Stealth Rocks to Rest on Mega-Swampert. Mega pert carries a lot of weight for this particular team, and will likely be switching in and out on a constant basis. This can cause it to accumulate a lot of chip+hazard damage along the way, and when it's too low, you'll be reliant on passing it a Wish, which can be easily predicted by your opponent in most scenarios. Therefore, I believe Rest is a great option on Mega pert since you'll be able to heal yourself without being pressured too much over the long run, and it fits nicely because you also have Heal Bell support on this team.
Again, great team you have here, and your success on the ladder is well deserved. Hope I helped, and good luck using the team in the future!

Very minor rate for a very solid team... but have you tried flame body + rocky helmet + U turn over pressure stall on moltress?

Pressure stall is fantastic but I can honestly see the 30% burn chance mattering more, it screws with volturn strategies, can save you from opposing Mpert/crawdaunt/gyrados/Gatr sweeps if doublade and Mpert are below full (or they flinch) and just punishes opponents for spamming weak contact moves in general, it's also a way to block low% spins as doublade is not a prefect spinblocker by any means.

U-Turn may seem odd on a 4x rock weakness but momentum is very rare on this sort of team and can be surprisingly punishing in stall mirrors.

It's a haxy suggestion but sometime's that's what mon's comes down to and having a 30% win on your side in worst case scenario's is invaluable imo.
