Yah- nah.
Greetings everyone and welcome to the "highly requested" unbiased Monotype BLT IV official power rankings
The criteria for ranking will be:
A. Player Skill (what 90% is based on)
B. Tier Knowledge
C. Motivation
D. Competency of the Manager
Let us get this started shall we:
The Slateport Scorpions
The Scorpions had the first overall pick and started out by selecting arguably the best player in the pool in Chaitanya. He should easily farm this BW pool and have at least 5 wins when the season is over assuming he is still motivated as I do not see any competent BW players in this pool. Crashy as a round 2 pick may surprise some, but the thirst for a longtime ORAS player can be considered something of high value. He should get at least 3 wins easily in this pool. Next up we got Ferno and K3ppr, unfortunately, STABmons aren't in the tournament so we will be moving on LMFAOOO. Fylkir Pudin has had surprising success playing the coinflip of a tier known as SS Monotype, he was fairly average at SM, but he should honestly get at least 3 wins in this pool. The Thunderbirds may have a confidence issue, but hopefully getting drafted in this tour can change that for him. Lastly LOL, this team elected to pickup Got Cookies as their final selection, and I'm surprised he was drafted so late in all honestly, but with the BW slot being played by Chaitanya all season, we shall see where Cookies will play. What I can guarantee is that guarantee he will ask Chait 5-6 times a week to play BW. I'm not sure if MetaRiolu7 has managed before but he is easily capable of managing here
with Chait and has good knowledge in all 4 gens.
Overall, this team looks pretty good for this tournament, and with Meta and Chait showing the ropes, they have a good chance to make playoffs. Note: this team also has no competent SM player, unless Chaitanya decides to slot himself there so there's that.
The Maurading Marowaks
The Marowaks selected Peachyclouds in the first round as that is a no brainer sporting excellent MPL and BLT records from last year. He should farm the SM pool again and have 5 wins. By the looks of it, Peachy will also have to manage this team so everyone wish him good luck. Cell is a very competent ORAS player and he should get at least 3-4 wins, even though he disappeared for months over an intro tour team name LOOOOL. Next up we have Tez Greninja, Perish's tutee. Although he is a new player, as are many others in this tour, he looks to be a decent SS player and can probably get a couple wins in this tour. Next up we got Toxanex, my fellow Canadian. Unfortunately once again, there is no Monothreat slot in this tournament, however, he is capable of winning a few games in SS. Smub going this late may end up being a sleeper pick. He has good knowledge of SM, ORAS, and BW and can help other slots out. If he doesn't disappear mid-tour he might be able to get at least 3-4 wins here if things go right. The last 2 players are players whom I've never seen play before, but one of them is a "nexus goon" and the other says "kicked" when the match is finished.
Overall, this team looks pretty average and Peachy is going to have to be heavily involved for this team to make playoffs, and that might be asking too much due to the fact that I saw him put Leftovers over Black Sludge on his Toxapex a few days ago, and his lack of timezone awareness and his flawed division skills might come into play LOOOOOOOL. In addition, this team has to depend on Smub not vanishing mid-tour. Note: I've never seen Perish manage or play in a tour before, but there's a first time for everyone so that is why the ranking is the way it is.
The Masquerading Mimikyu's
Ah yes, the team full of weebs, that almost managed to be last on this PR by trading away their first-round pick LOL. The Masquerading Mimikyu's selected one of the OG's in Wyn as their first-round selection, and he looks to actually be back and motivated, (although has not played in a tour since before I joined this website). He should be able to get at least 4 wins in this pool assuming he stays motivated, however, that might not be the case since his manager tried to trade him post-draft LMAO. Their next selection is arguably the angriest user on Smogon in Zugubu Royale. A great selection here, as he should get at least 4 wins here in this pool assuming he does not get banned or locked. Another infamous locked user, Taide is here as the team's SM slot, He might be capable of getting 3 wins in this tour assuming he also avoids getting banned or locked. Next up we have Prof. Otaku whom only esteemed user Flossed Over knows about. Yedla is an RU main, who I think can perhaps go for around 3 wins assuming skill transfers over. Cognitohazard won BLT last year but will have to diversify his type selection of Fairy and Normal if he wants to do well. Lastly, Namranan was picked up last by this team, if he does not go insane I do believe he can pick up a couple wins in this tour as well as put all of his prepping on Youtube.
Overall, this team looks to be alright, they have a lot of synergy together and should easily motivate each other
as they are all weebs, but with many wildcards on the team such as Zugu, Taide, and Namranan LOL, this team can be looked at as "boom or bust". Although I don't think piper has managed before aside from discord tours, there is no doubt in my mind he should do well here with his anime comrades and if all the cards play right this team could actually make playoffs, but I'm skeptical.
The Fashionista Florges
Finally, we get to discuss my team, the Fashionista Florges.
Thanks to the combined efforts of Conflux and I, we managed to rig the draft. Attribute stands as the most competent manager here with the most experience as a player and as a manager essentially due to forcefully been having to step up and help manage the Miniors the past 2 MPL's LOL and managing the infamous #RhyperiorsGang from last BLT. Conflux (yeah what a name change) has made a return after his hiatus as Ice tray, and this will be his first team tour since then to make his mark again. In SS he should get at least 4 wins, with how matchup heavy this tier is. Conflux will also have to take the load of managing and building all 3 SS Mono slots as Attribute and I will not be touching those slots. Next, we get to me, I'm absolute crust at ORAS since the Medicham ban, however, I'm looking forward to potentially playing it a little bit tour, as well as SM of course. Mono ssnls have made me hate SS mono for the time being so you won't catch me playing that. I should
hopefully be able to win at least 4 games in this pool. Next up we got Kaguya lys, he, unfortunately, will not be able to hide his replays in this tour, but he should still be able to pop off for at least 3 wins in various slots. Nailec, the French OG has been around for a while, however once again, there sadly aren't any Mono LC slots in this tour. All jokes aside he has good experience in all 4 tiers, he should definitely be able to pick up at least 3-4 wins in this pool. Fu Shun Ha (aka Tangela jr.), is an OU ladder hero that claims he is the beast of "the weather gen" (meaning BW mono). Let's hope that statement holds true and his skill can transfer so he can pick up some wins for our team with support. Maki's Fox is a 1v1 main that took 37 alts to get OU suspect reqs last week so there's that, however, he is very capable of getting 2-3 wins for our team. Lastly, we have formerly tourbanned, and ex-Rogue goon, Tier Acid (Aka Defcon 4) if you asked me a year ago I would call him an absolute goon (which he still may be) however, he topped the ladder a few times for what its worth during SM, and has shown a ton of improvement since getting tourbanned in MLT. He should be more than capable of getting at least 2-3 wins in this pool.
Overall, for the 4th pick
we Attribute drafted pretty well. With him managing + Conflux, Nailec, and I assisting with prep for other slots, in addition to
hopefully doing well in our own slots. This team has a solid chance to make the playoffs. However, with no tried and true BW player, this slot could potentially be shaky, but the BW pool does not look great, to begin with, so there's that.
The Snowpoint Staravias
Mateeus managed to acquire the nexus core in both Dugza and Floss with his first two selections. Dugza (the auspicious ribbon clout holder) will most likely be playing the SM slot every week here and is capable of getting 4 wins in this pool. Floss has managed to make winners finals vs me in seasonals, but at the state of this coin flip metagame, that truly does not mean shit at all. All jokes aside, he has shown a lot of improvement and should be able to win at least 3-4 games here. Then we get to the rest of this team. Kythr i think made MLT playoffs and went far from what I remember before dropping out for some odd reason, I've seen this player do well on the ladder for what its worth, he should be capable of winning a 2-3 games here. Yami (Magma) serves as the team's BW slot rather than ORAS for some reason. Assuming Yami is mentally stable throughout the tour, he should do alright in BW. My bet is for him to win the team around 3 games with this pool. After opting to skip gen 7, ORAS mono player Edwins (who cannot keep track of time) came back when SS came out. He seems to be doing decently well in that tier, however, seeing that there is no capable ORAS mono player on the team he will most likely be playing that (even though he is crust at it). Assuming he doesn't flood the battle chat as usual and distract himself, he should be capable of 2 (yes two) wins. Riku Sakuraba, I think is also a nexus goon, he should mesh right in with the rest of the team, I'm not sure what gen he plays but he should hopefully be a reliable SS slot. As for the last player, user Blinkboy went far in the esteemed "Rigged (Monotype Edition) tour" so he is definitely a capable sub and can win a couple of games. Mateeus has no experience managing (No discord tours do not count), however, he, Dugza, and Floss might be able to combine themselves into one manager, and maybe (just maybe) lead this team to the playoffs.
The Twinleaf Togekiss
Finally, we get to the last team which also happens to be the worst team LOL. The Twinleaf Togekiss made an absolute power move drafting both Decem and Ssalbap back to back LMFAOOOOOO!! Now hearing just now that Ssalbap may get tourbanned for cancering, makes it funnier than ever. Decem will be playing the manager role here, and for that reason is definitely worth being a 1st round pick, his resume is very good and he should do well with previous MPL and BLT managing experiences. He should also be capable of around 4 wins in various slots. If Ssalbap somehow isn't tourbanned after all of this, rest assured, the Togekiss's will be starting every week down 0-1 with the builds he chooses to bring LOOOOL. Bondie and Frnen are the Mono-Boomers core, both of which I never saw during SMs lifecycle, but are back for SS mono. both should be capable of maybe picking up 2-3 wins each here. Caspell is a nexus goon, but it appears he is not in the nexus environment in which he would thrive in, he might be able to pickup a couple of wins. Twilight Solace is my brother, but he is also crust LOL, as all he does is play Call of Duty and post in the #NSFW channel in the [redacted] discord. If he becomes motivated again he can definitely win 3 games in this tour setting. Lastly, we have ... Ronman5. Yes, you heard that correctly, Ronman5 LOL. He managed to get drafted after all these years (so this is what he must have been pumping all day
) All in all he looks to be a capable BW player in a pool with almost no competent BWers so he may be able to actually win a game or two here.
Overall this team is easily the worst team of the draft, the manager experience, to the Decem-Ssalbap back to back picks LOL, to the boomers, the Call of Duty main, and then Ronman5. This team has absolutely no chance at making playoffs bar any miracle, but its monotype blt, so anything can happen.
Essentially there are 2 teams that drafted really well, and then a gap occurs.
Final Power Rankings:
1.A Slateport Scorpions
1.B Fashionista Florges (Interchangeable)
3. Marauding Marowaks
4. Masquerading Mimikyu's
5. Snowpoint Staravias
6. Twinleaf Togekiss
There are a ton of wildcards on both the Marowaks and Mimikyu's (activity and personalities) so they were tough to rank. I think it is clear though that the Scorpions and Florges both have the best shot at making playoffs.
