[OVERVIEW]

**Normal:**

With impressive stats, an enormous movepool, great special bulk, and a solid typing, Meloetta can fulfill roles such as a wallbreaker and Calm Mind sweeper, making it a great asset to Normal-type teams. As a wallbreaker, Meloetta gives a much-needed offensive presence to the passive balanced Normal archetype of Eviolite Pokemon, Ditto, and bulky Staraptor. Meloetta's high Special Defense allows it to take several hits from special attackers such as Zapdos, Clefable, and Magnezone and provides further opportunities to set up Calm Mind more effectively. This is further benefited by Meloetta's decent base 90 Speed, which can allow it to outspeed defensive Pokemon such as Zapdos. Its unique Normal / Psychic typing grants it an immunity to Ghost-type moves and lets it check Fighting-types such as Keldeo, Terrakion, and Heracross. Meloetta is also a good replacement for Mega Pidgeot as a special wallbreaker, as it doesn't use the Mega Evolution slot.

However, Meloetta has trouble switching into physical attacks due to its mediocre Defense stat. While its Normal / Psychic typing is unique, it leaves Meloetta weak to Dark-types and Knock Off users. In addition, despite its base 90 Speed, Meloetta is still left outsped by threats such as Mega Medicham, Garchomp, and Landorus. It also faces a lot of competition from Mega Pidgeot, another popular special wallbreaker that is also much faster than Meloetta. Finally, due to its lack of reliable recovery, it is often vulnerable to status effects such as poison and burn, which hinders its longevity in battle.

Set Details
========

Maximum Special Attack EVs along with a Modest nature maximize Meloetta's damage output. Maximum Speed EVs are used to outspeed Jolly Breloom, Adamant Choice Band Diggersby, and Timid Heatran. Choice Specs is used to increase Meloetta's damage output even further. Choice Scarf with a Timid nature can be used instead of Choice Specs for Meloetta to be as fast as possible, outspeeding Pokemon such as specially defensive Tentacruel, physically defensive Staraptor, and Adamant Mamoswine. This also enables Meloetta to act as a revenge killer against Dark- and Fighting-types. However, Meloetta completely misses out on the extra damage potential and is unable to wallbreak. The Speed EVs can instead be be put into HP to increase Meloetta's bulk. A Timid nature can be used instead of a Modest nature to outspeed Jolly Gyarados, Mamoswine, and Timid Nidoking; however, Meloetta needs a Modest nature in order to wallbreak.

Usage Tips
========

This set allows Meloetta to function as a hard-hitting wallbreaker, but status effects such as poison, burn, and paralysis can cripple its effectiveness. It can be brought in early-game to dent the opposing team and break down physical walls. Meloetta can also come into weak special attacks, creating an opportunity for it to deal enormous damage, so it should be played aggressively. Keep Meloetta healthy if there is an opposing threat it needs to check such as Mew or Clefable.

Team Options
========

Mega Lopunny helps against Dark-type Pokemon with its Fighting-type STAB moves. It can provide chip damage with Fake Out and deal with Pokemon such as Chansey, which otherwise walls Meloetta. Mega Lopunny can also switch into a predicted Knock Off to sponge the attack. Porygon2 is a great switch-in for physical attackers due to Eviolite and can spread status with moves such as Thunder Wave and Toxic, allowing Meloetta to wallbreak more effectively. Staraptor and Mega Pidgeot can help against Bug-types such as Volcarona, Mega Scizor, and Mega Pinsir. Diggersby is a great physical wallbreaker that complements Meloetta's special attacks. Ditto's ability Imposter allows it to threaten many setup sweepers that tend to set up on Choice-locked Meloetta. Chansey helps absorb status moves aimed at Meloetta with Natural Cure and also set up Stealth Rock to get chip damage on opposing Pokemon so that Meloetta can KO them more easily, especially Pokemon with a Focus Sash. Smeargle can set up entry hazards such as Sticky Web and Stealth Rock for Meloetta as well. Sticky Web is especially useful because it can help Meloetta outspeed the foe. Together, Meloetta and Mega Pidgeot grant Normal teams double the offensive pressure put on the opposing team.

Psyshock helps Meloetta break through special walls and hit Chansey. Shadow Ball hits Ghost- and Psychic-types such as Sableye, Chandelure, Mega Gardevoir, and Mega Medicham super effectively. It also hits Steel-types, which resist Psyshock, such as Heatran, Skarmory, and Jirachi. However, Shadow Ball leaves Meloetta unable to threaten Dark-type Pokemon. Focus Blast can be used instead to provide coverage against Dark-, Ice-, Normal-, and Steel-types such as Bisharp, Avalugg, Chansey, and Ferrothorn at the cost of coverage for Ghost- and Psychic-types.

Set Details
========

Maximum HP EVs grant Meloetta more bulk. This also prevents Chansey from breaking Meloetta's Substitute with Seismic Toss, making it a great target to set up Calm Mind on. Maximum Speed EVs along with a Timid nature maximize Meloetta's Speed, letting it outspeed Jolly Gyarados, Excadrill, and Timid Heatran. The remaining EVs are invested into Special Attack to increase damage output. Leftovers provides passive recovery each turn, increasing its longevity and giving it more opportunities to set up Substitute. Serene Grace increases the chance to activate the secondary effects of Shadow Ball and Focus Blast.

Usage Tips
========

This set has Meloetta function as a Calm Mind sweeper. Depending on which coverage move Meloetta is using, make sure to eliminate threats that resist it. For example, if Meloetta has Shadow Ball instead of Focus Blast and battles against a Dark-type team, it needs to rely on its partners such as Mega Lopunny to clear the field of the opposing Pokemon. Meloetta should usually set up Substitute on predicted status-inflicting moves, as they can cripple its sweeping capabilities. Meloetta can also use Substitute to its advantage against specially defensive Pokemon such as Chansey. A fallen teammate provides a good opportunity for switching in so that Meloetta doesn't take any damage upon doing so. Meloetta needs to avoid status moves as much as possible, as when inflicted, its sweeping capabilities will be ruined. It's not always recommended to use Meloetta early-game, as this set serves more as a late-game wincon, which means it should be kept healthy. Meloetta can, however, set up early-game if its checks have already fainted.

Team Options
========

Entry hazard removers such as Staraptor keep Meloetta from taking damage when switching in. Meloetta will have trouble against Dark-types, which Mega Lopunny can handle. Similarly, Mega Pidgeot can eliminate pesky Bug-types for Meloetta such as Volcarona and Mega Scizor. Diggersby can help wallbreak against specially bulky Pokemon such as Zapdos and Chansey for Meloetta. Chansey and Porygon2 can help wear down walls with Toxic or by inflicting paralysis with moves such as Thunder Wave and Discharge, which assists Meloetta in setting up. Chansey can also set up Stealth Rock to rack up chip damage for Meloetta.

Other Options
=============

**Normal:**

Dazzling Gleam gives Meloetta coverage to hit Dark-, Dragon-, and Fighting-types such as Mandibuzz, Dragonite, Latias, Latios, and Keldeo super effectively; however, Dazzling Gleam is redundant due to the other coverage moves Meloetta has, and many Dragon-types can take a lot of damage from Choice Specs-boosted Hyper Voice. Thunderbolt can target Flying- and Water-types such as Skarmory and Gyarados. Hidden Power Fire is mainly used against Steel-types, especially Mega Scizor and Ferrothorn. Assault Vest increases Meloetta's special bulk, making it an efficient tank for special attacks. However, Chansey already fills that role, so there are more effective items available. Life Orb is another item possibility that can be used with Calm Mind + 3 attacks, as Meloetta's Psychic-, Fighting-, and Ghost-type coverage moves hit the entire metagame for neutral damage, providing another option for those looking to do some extra damage at the cost of some health. Trick can be used as a way to cripple defensive Pokemon such as Mew, Chansey, Mandibuzz, and Ferrothorn.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Normal:**

**Dark-types**: Meloetta has a huge problem against Dark-types and has to rely on Focus Blast to KO them, which poses a significant risk due to Focus Blast's low accuracy. Meloetta can easily faint to a STAB Knock Off or be KOed by other attacks such as Bisharp's Sucker Punch.

**Status and Residual Damage**: Status effects, such as burn, poison, and paralysis, greatly hinder Meloetta's presence on the field. With no reliable recovery options, Meloetta's longevity gets cut short from burn and poison and it becomes outsped by most other Pokemon if paralyzed. Meloetta also can't afford to switch into entry hazards such as Spikes, Stealth Rock, and Toxic Spikes either because it has no reliable recovery, which limits its opportunities to switch in.

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Specially defensive Pokemon such as Chansey, Zapdos, Umbreon, and Cradily can tank several of Choice Specs Meloetta's special attacks. Chansey can inflict Meloetta with status conditions from either Thunder Wave or Toxic and proceed to KO it with Seismic Toss while recovering health with Soft-Boiled. Umbreon can stall out Meloetta with Wish + Toxic while KOing it with Foul Play. Cradily can also stall with Toxic + Recover, and Zapdos has access to Toxic + Roost. However, they need to be wary of Calm Mind Meloetta, as they're poor checks to that set. They also must watch out for Meloetta that carry Trick.

**Revenge Killers**: Because of Meloetta's base 90 Speed, it's easily outpaced by Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Kyurem-B, Diggersby, and Victini. Bisharp is able to easily OHKO Meloetta with Sucker Punch, as are Victini with a powerful STAB V-create, Kyurem-B with Outrage, and Choice Scarf Diggersby with Knock Off.

Overview:
Add that wallbreaker meloetta gives normal much needed offensive presence to the passive balanced normal archetype of eviolite mons+ditto+bulkyraptor

The sets you gave aren't great 'special tanks', they shouldn't be switching into special attacks when there's a Chansey available.

Volcarona probably isnt the biggest threat to normal because of chansey, so you could put more relevant threats meloetta is outsped by, like Mega Medicham, Garchomp, or Landorus, pokemon that are tough for the eviolite core to switch into.

Add it's a good replacement for Mega Pidgeot as a special wallbreaker without taking a mega spot, but that it faces a lot of competition from mega pidgeot as a special wallbreaker because pidgeot is a lot faster.

Specs set :
Thunderbolt probably shouldn't be slashed first, or even used at all, because skarmory, mandibuzz, and gyarados all take significant damage from hyper voice

Set details:
Shadow ball doesn't beat Sableye, if you want to beat Sableye you could move dazzling gleam from OO, which also hits Mandibuzz super effectively

Energy ball also ohkos water pokemon like Rotom-w and Azumarill, which normal teams tend to have trouble with

Mention Timid Specs Meloetta, because it ouspeeds + speed natured Gyarados, Nidoking, and Mamosiwne, and how Modest specs is better at wallbreaking, (with examples like 2hkoing SkarmDos with stab)

Scarf Timid Meloetta is used more as a revenge killer against unsuspecting fighting and dark types

Chansey gets rid of Meloetta's status through heal bell, not Natural cure

Checks and Counters:
Mention toxic spikes, which normal has a tough time getting off the field, and also preventing from getting on the field

Didn't get a chance with the Psychic Meloetta, so here we go with the Normal sets:

Overview:
You have two sets, a wallbreaker and a Calm Mind sweeper, so in the overview there doesn't seem to be a good reason to say that Meloetta can be a special tank. The Assault Vest is mentioned in OO, but, as you said, it's not very good when Chansey exists. It has nice bulk, but certainly isn't good for tanking due to its lack of recovery and how much it needs its health.

I think Meloetta's vast coverage is a great thing to mention here.

I wouldn't say base 100 HP and base 77 Defense is lacking in physical bulk, but you can still say it has trouble switching into physical attackers, as that is quite true.

Specs:
Set:
I'm pretty torn on the 4th move's slashing. I honestly feel that Energy Ball's utility is limited to just OHKOing Azumarill, as all other targets get 2HKOed by Meloetta's STAB moves anyway. I think the ability to OHKO Doublade with Shadow Ball is huge. Further, it always 2HKOes Mew, which is super important, as it otherwise is a really annoying stallbreaker. So I think I'd like to see it be Shadow Ball first in front of Energy Ball.

I think Trick isn't worth slashing here. The walls you mentioned that Meloetta wants to cripple are all 2HKOed by the appropriate moves anyway. Not only are you losing the power from Choice Specs that Meloetta needs so much, but you also lose a coverage move. It's just not good in my opinion.

As explained, Shadow Ball gets those 2 important KOes, but it also generally just hits Ghost-type and Psychic-type Pokemon harder than its STAB does.

Energy Ball is still a fine mention I think just because Azumarill is such a threat. Hitting annoying Water- and Ground-type Pokemon is nice as well. Just not as good as Shadow Ball.

Trick can still be mentioned here, but I would change the reason, since as I said, those are all 2HKOed anyway. I'm unsure how to help with this because I can't think of any good uses for it to be honest.

Set Details:
"Maximum Speed EVs are used to outspeed neutral base 100 Speed Pokemon such as Zapdos." I don't get this. Meloetta only hits 279, which does outspeed most Zapdos, but not most base 100 Speed Pokemon. You can say you that maximum Speed EVs can help outspeed the likes of Timid Heatran, though, or even something like Excadrill out of sand.

On the Choice Scarf mention, it should be noted that Meloetta seriously misses the damage and cannot wallbreak anymore, which is why Choice Specs is the main set.

You should list examples of why Modest is important, most notably including Skarmdos, Mega Venusaur gets OHKOed by Psychic, Tyranitar gets OHKOed by Focus Blast, etc.

Usage Tips:
Should probably mention that Meloetta wants to stay far away from status, as they make it much easier for opposing walls to stall out Meloetta. Toxic poison and burns will wear Meloetta down as the opposing walls repeatedly use their recovery move, while paralysis can be crippling and prevent Meloetta from getting KOes.

While it's true Meloetta wants to stay pretty healthy, it is quite capable of switching into defensive Pokemon that can't really damage it, such as Staraptor or Clefable. In general Meloetta can also be pivoted into special attacks as well.

Team Options:
I'd mention that Porygon2 and Staraptor are great switch-ins for physical attackers and Chansey's ability to tank special attacks helps preserve Meloetta's health.

Porygon2 in particular is a nice blanket check to many foes, capable of spreading multiple status ailments and even using Foul Play to take out physical sweepers.

Chansey of course can also set Stealth Rock, which can help chip away at the foes' health to make it easier for Meloetta to get KOs.

I'd mention Ditto for its ability Imposter to threaten many setup sweepers that might come in on a Choice-locked Meloetta to try to set up.

On the Smeargle note with Sticky Web, mention that it helps alleviate the somewhat lacking Speed from Meloetta.

Moves:
I believe on this set, Shadow Ball is to hit Psychic- and Steel-types that resist Psyshock instead of the, although still relevant, super effective damage on Ghost-types.

Focus Blast hits Dark-types hard, but makes Psychic- and Ghost-types relatively difficult to hit. Most threatening Ghost-types, that is Doublade and Sableye, will not be threatened by Focus Blast Meloetta at all, as Psyshock is easily ignored by them.

Set Details:
You should definitely note that 252 HP sets Meloetta at 404 HP, putting its Substitute out of Chansey's Seismic Toss range, making Chansey a somewhat easy target to set up on.

Again the maximum Speed EV investment line doesn't make much sense to me. I'd change that to something relevant like outspeeding Heatran, Excadrill out of sand, or +0 Mega Gyarados.

Usage Tips:
Mention that depending on the coverage move, make sure to eliminate threats that Meloetta can't hit. And in general, Meloetta's checks should be removed before attempting to sweep.

This set needs to avoid status even more, as paralysis will prevent it from sweeping effectively, while Toxic poison and burns will make Meloetta incapable of setting up and completing a sweep.

This set can't quite function as a wallbreaker, but can set up a Calm Mind early to boost its power to try to assist the team, although taking unnecessary damage will make the late-game more difficult for Meloetta.

Team Options:
I would mention the status spreading ability of Chansey and Porygon2, wearing down walls with Toxic and paralyzing threats with Thunder Wave or Discharge. Chansey also gets Stealth Rock to help bring foes into Meloetta's damage range.

Other Options:
Should mention that Dazzling Gleam's coverage is generally redundant due to other coverage moves.

Is Meloetta-P even worth mentioning? I've never used it, so I can't say, but I think it's just not viable enough here.

Checks and Counters:
Under specially defensive Pokemon, make it clear that these are only checks to non-Choice Specs Meloetta. Chansey is 2HKOed by Psyshock after Stealth Rock damage, Zapdos is 2HKOed by Hyper Voice or Psyshock, Umbreon is 2HKOed by Focus Blast, as is Cradily by Focus Blast or Psyshock. In general, Chansey and Zapdos will also be poor checks to Substitute + Calm Mind Meloetta, as Chansey's Seismic Toss cannot break the Subsitute, and Zapdos will also fail to deal enough damage with Discharge even before Meloetta sets up boosts.

Revenge killers would be a great addition. Due to its Speed, Meloetta can easily find itself outsped and KOed by foes such as Choice Scarf Victini or Kyurem-B. Also, the likes of Bisharp can use Sucker Punch to KO Meloetta.

Keep Meloetta away from statuses such as poison, burns, and paralysis, as they all ruin Meloetta's effectiveness as a wallbreaker. Also, poison and burns will cut into Meloetta's longevity. Meloetta can be brought in early-game to puncture the opposing team and break down physical walls. It's best to switch-in Meloetta from a fallen teammate because it shouldn't want to take any damage from the opposing threat. Even though Meloetta would want to stay healthy as much as possible, it can still switch into bulky Pokemon such as defensive variants of Staraptor and Clefable. In general, I disagree with the "keep melo healthy" usage tip. I'd argue it should be played aggressively in the early game—switching into more passive Pokemon and weaker special attacks to generate opportunities to punch holes in the opponent's team. It is ok to trade melo if it means removing a key threat to your team. It is meant to break the other team and it can't do that if you only bring it in after something faints (especially on a Normal team where you can't afford to lose P2, Chansey, or Staraptor before the opposing team is whittled). Only keep melo healthy if there is an opposing threat you need it to check, such as Mew or Clefable.

Team Options

Ditto's can also be a great partner due to its ability Imposter, allowing allows it to threaten many setup sweepers that tend to set up on Choice-locked Meloetta. Chansey helps absorb status moves aimed at Meloetta with Natural Cure. It can also set up Stealth Rock to get chip damage on opposing Pokemon so that Meloetta can KO them easier more easily, especially Focus Sash Pokemon with a Focus Sash. Meloetta can easily faint to a STAB Knock Off or be KOed by other attacks such as Bisharp's Sucker Punch.

With no reliable recovery options, Meloetta's longevity would be cut short from burns and poison. As for paralysis, this ruins Meloetta's Speed, making it less effective in outspeeding several Pokemon. and it would be quickly outsped by most other Pokemon if paralyzed due to the resulting speed reduction. However, they need to be wary of Calm Mind Meloetta, as they're poor checks to that set.

**Revenge Killers**: Because of Meloetta's base 90 Speed, it's easily outpaced by Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Kyurem-B, Diggersby, or Victini. Bisharp is able to easily get rid of OHKO Meloetta with a Sucker Punch, as is. V-Create from Victini's powerful STAB move V-Create, is able to sometimes able to OHKO Meloetta. Psychic is Meloetta's primary STAB move, hitting one of Meloetta's STAB moves, which hits (better flow, and i feel like this was the message you were trying to get across) Fighting- and Poison-types such as Terrakion and Mega Venusaur super effectively. Alternatively, (subjective but transitions are nice :>) Psyshock can be used instead of Psychic to target the foe's Defense stat, which makes it a great check to Chansey, Quiver Dance Volcarona, and Calm Mind users such as Sylveon and Clefable. Hyper Voice is necessary as a secondary STAB move to hit several types for neutral damage. It can also hit foes that tend to set up Substitute (maybe provide some examples?). Focus Blast provides Meloetta with Fighting-type coverage to hit threats such as Tyranitar, Mamoswine, Porygon2, Heatran, and Skarmory. This also enables Meloetta to act as a revenge killer against Dark- and Fighting-types. However, Meloetta completely misses out on the extra damage potential and is unable to wallbreak. Mega Lopunny can also switch into a predicted Knock Off to sponge the attack. Porygon2 is a great switch-in for physical attackers due to Eviolite. It can help spread status with moves such as Thunder Wave and Toxic, allowing Meloetta to wallbreak more effectively. Staraptor and Mega Pidgeot can help against Bug-types such as Volcarona, Mega Scizor, and Mega Pinsir. Diggersby is a great physical wallbreaker that complements Meloetta's special attacks. Ditto's ability Imposter allows it to threaten many setup sweepers that tend to set up on Choice-locked Meloetta. Chansey helps absorb status moves aimed at Meloetta with Natural Cure. It can also set up Stealth Rock to get chip damage on opposing Pokemon so that Meloetta can KO them more easily, especially Pokemon with a Focus Sash. Usage Tips
========

This set has Meloetta function as a Calm Mind sweeper. Depending on which coverage move Meloetta is using, make sure to eliminate threats that resist it. For example, if Meloetta has Shadow Ball instead of Focus Blast and battles against a Dark-type team, it needs to rely on its partners such as Mega Lopunny (mlop isnt guaranteed to be a partner) to clear the field of the opposing Pokemon. Meloetta should usually set up Substitute on predicted status-inflicting moves, as they can cripple its sweeping capabilities. Meloetta can also use Substitute to its advantage against specially defensive Pokemon such as Chansey. A fallen teammate provides a good opportunity for switching in so that it doesn't take any damage upon doing so. Meloetta would need to avoid status moves as much as possible, as when inflicted, its sweeping capabilities will be ruined. It's not always recommended to use using Meloetta early-game, as this set serves more as a late-game wincon, which means it should be kept healthy. Meloetta can, however, set up early-game if its checks have already fainted.

Entry hazard removers such as Staraptor keep Meloetta from taking damage when switching in. Meloetta will have trouble against Dark-types, which Mega Lopunny can handle. Assault Vest increases Meloetta's special bulk, making it an efficient tank for special attacks. However, Chansey already fills that role, so there are more effective items available. Life Orb is another item possibility that can be used with Calm Mind + 3 attacks, as Meloetta's Psychic-, Fighting-, and Ghost-type coverage moves hit the entire metagame for neutral damage, providing another option for those looking to do some extra damage at the cost of some health. Trick can be used as a way to cripple defensive Pokemon such as Mew, Chansey, Mandibuzz, and Ferrothorn.

**Dark-types**: Meloetta has a huge problem against Dark-types and has to rely on Focus Blast to KO them, which poses a significant risk due to Focus Blast's low accuracy. Meloetta can easily faint to a STAB Knock Off or be KOed by other attacks such as Bisharp's Sucker Punch.

**Status Moves and Residual Damage**: Status effects, such as burn, poison, and paralysis, greatly hinder Meloetta's presence on the field. With no reliable recovery options, Meloetta's longevity gets cut short from burn and poison and it becomes outsped by most other Pokemon if paralyzed. Meloetta also can't afford to switch into entry hazards such as Spikes, Stealth Rock, and Toxic Spikes either because it has no reliable recovery, which limits its opportunities to switch in. (shouldnt these two be separated?)

**Specially Defensive Pokemon**: Specially defensive Pokemon such as Chansey, Zapdos (earlier you said it outspeeds zapdos in the specs set, which was supposed to mean something), Umbreon, and Cradily can tank several of Choice Specs Meloetta's special attacks. Chansey can afflict (wouldnt inflict work better here) Meloetta with status conditions from either Thunder Wave or Toxic and proceed to KO it with Seismic Toss while recovering health from Soft-Boiled. Umbreon can stall out Meloetta with Wish + Toxic while KOing it with Foul Play. Cradily can also stall with Toxic + Recover and Zapdos has access to Toxic + Roost. However, they need to be wary of Calm Mind Meloetta, as they're poor checks to that set. They also must watch out for Meloetta carrying that carry (subjective but flows better imo) Trick.

**Revenge Killers**: Because of Meloetta's base 90 Speed, it's easily outpaced by Choice Scarf Pokemon such as Kyurem-B, Diggersby, and Victini. Bisharp is able to easily OHKO Meloetta with Sucker Punch, as is Victini with a powerful STAB V-create, Kyurem-B with Outrage, and Choice Scarf Diggersby with Knock Off.

[OVERVIEW]

**Normal:**

With impressive stats, an enormous movepool, great special bulk, and a solid typing, Meloetta can fulfill roles such as a wallbreaker and Calm Mind sweeper, making it a great asset to Normal-type teams. As a wallbreaker, Meloetta gives a
much-needed offensive presence to the passive balanced Normal archetype of Eviolite Pokemon, Ditto, and bulky Staraptor. Meloetta's high Special Defense allows it to take several hits from special attackers such as Zapdos, Clefable, and Magnezone and provides further opportunities to set up Calm Mind more effectively. This is further benefited by Meloetta's decent base 90 Speed, which can allow it to outspeed defensive Pokemon such as Zapdos. Its unique Normal / Psychic typing grants it an immunity to Ghost-type moves and lets it check Fighting-types such as Keldeo, Terrakion, and Heracross. Meloetta is also a good replacement for Mega Pidgeot as a special wallbreaker, as it doesn't use the Mega Evolution spot. ("team's Mega slot" maybe)

However, Meloetta has trouble switching into physical attacks due to its mediocre Defense stat. While its Normal / Psychic typing is unique, it leaves Meloetta weak to Dark-types and Knock Off users. In addition, despite its base 90 Speed, Meloetta is still left outsped by threats such as Mega Medicham, Garchomp, and Landorus. It also faces a lot of competition from Mega Pidgeot, another popular special wallbreaker that is also much faster than Meloetta.
