BUT, I used protean, which neither of us are sure if its allowed or not, because rule 1 is really vague and has 2 possible interpretations we could come up with. Either, I cant use protean Ice Beam to count as an Ice-type for an Ice team. Which is how I interpreted it, with the Mega Ampharos example used. Or, Protean isnt allowed cause its changing your own type. Which is another interpretation.

You may, however, change your opponent's type through moves like Soak. You may not do this on your own Pokemon, if such a way exists. For example, Ampharos mega-evolving into a part Dragon-type is not permission to use it on a Dragon team. Same with Protean.
