Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Are the wild pokémon (non-synched) generated by Method 1, 2, 3 , or any other method not included in the RNGReporter?

EDIT: Errm, nevermind, I found the Bidoof's IVs I caught on Method 1. But its offset was 27... And there are no NPCs on the whole map!

Well, the RNG calls to generate the PID/IVs are straight method 1, but before this can happen there is a synch call (if necesary) and then a lookup call (if synch fails or there was no syncher). So what you see as the offsets on the seed finder are not really true frame numbers, but the number of RNG calls between seed and that monster.

This new method, Coined "Method J" is described full (and I do believe accurtately after quite a bit of testing) in the OP.

In the 4th gen, they are generated to a method similar to method 1. If you catch a pokemon, get the initial seed, and catch another pokemon, you will find that pokemon in the list generated, but it jumps wildly. I believe mingot is working on this and might need help on it.

The jumps are the effect of the different method. The next version will have "Method J" and "Method J Syncher" so if you generate for those methods you will get a better idea of the actual initial RNG call that started the creation for your monster. The seed finder, though, will remain the same as there is really no need to change it there.

RNGReporter is currently using method 1 in all of its calculations, so "that's just how it works."

Basically.

I suck, I meant delay and the whole even/odd thing.

No ideas yet. Having a cart in or out/5 menu items etc, don't seem to change it. Or at least not predictibly. I really doubt it's anything to do with that, though. Probably something much simpler that is just not known or being overlooked.

I expressed myself poorly, what I wanted to be sure is if it would return frame 1 if the method used was [similarto1] instead of 1 as it is now.

Which reminds me, does synched (and non-synched) legendaries use Method 1 or the similar one?

They use the method similar to 1.

Runners use straight old fasioned up method 1.

Non-runners and wilds use Method J.

Thanks, mingot. I think I'll wait a little more for RNGR's next version, just for the sake of convenience and, once I finish this damn Drifloon I'm locked onto, I'll take a look at the legendary birds.

Yeah, one thing that would be helpful is what order do the birds PIDs and IVs get made. So, I could try to get a cresselia using method 1. I might try this later lol

Well, without a time finder it won't help a ton to have this method, other than for seeing how it looks.

I would guess that they are standard method 1, but would be interesting to verify.

Well, this method isn't fully coded into the RNGR, right? Morelike it can be "traced", but then the frame won't be the right one listed, so if I want to hunt a 31/31/31/31/31/31 synched legendary, I wouldn't have the right offset and then would waste my life trying to get the flawless bitch and...

Wait, there's something I didn't get on how this works, right?

There is nothing currently, nor will there be, in the next version to help you hunt for that unfortunately. And trying to do it without some tools to help would be wasting your life, sorry :/

I do plan on working on a "Time Finder" for caught Pokemon, it just isn't in the next version and I don't have an ETA (other than it won't take me a year. or a week.) for it at this time.

Also, brings up a though I've had -- Once we have a decent spread for each nature we're pretty much done. Everyone who cares will get the few (compared to bred Pokemon) Legends themselves or from someone who abused for it. And then it's over. So with the limited future usefulness I am strongly considering just writing a separate piece of software to generate a list of good frames. Not sure yet, though.

Thoughts?

Well, I'd like the ability to search through shiny spreads, too, of course...

But yes, a thing of the best spreads would be ideal. Best IVs for non Hidden Power, best IVs for all the Hidden Powers, etc.

At this point in time I have just downloaded the Oak's Letter and am Soft Resetting for a shiny Shaymin with a Timid syncher.

My question is that by doing this can I con contribute in any way? And if so in what way? If I get my shiny how will this be helpful.

Also, by using a pokemon with synchronise am I hurting my chance of finding a shiny because it may be skipping a shiny frame to go to a Timid one?

I'll be glad to help in any way I could, obviously as long as I don't have to drastically change anything I'm currently doing.

You don't want to use AR, but you did use AR and you're using AR now. Huh?
I Use AR on Pearl. Not Platinum.
Pokemon on platinum that are good are from Pearl and thus have had AR used on them, until I get them off of Platinum and start breeding on platinum. :D

I had a question.
Since i don't have AR i cant find out the IV's of the pokemon(barely any candies) so if i trade to find out the IV's will it still work

No, I don't think that would work. I read somewhere that entering WiFi effects the RNG.

EDIT: No it won't work. This is from the OP.

- Going into a wifi trade will reseed the Incubator RNG to an unknown value.

Entering any trading area will advance the IRNG to an unknown value. What you can do is go to the resort area or somewhere like Route 229, catch one of the high level Pokemon there, and immediately put the values into Metalkid's IV calculator. Usually, it will give you results with only two or three IVs uncertain. From there, you can just simply plug in every possible IV combination from the captured Pokemon into the RNG reported until you get the proper results. You will be able to tell when this is because most of the IV combinations will return no results or completely ludicrous values for delay and offset.

In the DPPt Time Finder, when choosing which stats to place where, what do the E, O, HP, HP_E, and HP_O represent?

The Pokemon on Route 229 are about level 50. Also, if you're playing Platinum, if you fish in the Resort Area, you can catch Magikarp anywhere from level 1 to 100. Since these Pokemon are at such high levels, they will usually give pretty accurate results when you run their stats through in an IV checker.

From there, you can usually brute force the RNG Reporter with whatever combination of IVs that are possible for the Pokemon you caught. Usually it's only 16 at most, and most often only something like 4. This will give you your initial IRNG seed.

I know the question may seem stupid, but I want to be sure... I've already saved in front of the daycare man (checked the egg and it's shiny), now if I trade or do anything else that can advance the RNG and then I begin to soft reset (on the same egg, of course), is there any chance that my egg will lose its shiny characteristic or nature and shine are permanently set? I'm asking because I need to trade for a flame body pokemon before I start to soft reset. Thanks in advance.

No, that won't affect the shinyness, gender, ability or nature as they are all set when the egg is created. The only thing yet to be set are the IVs.

I have a question: Is it actually possible for someone else to be able to check your SID for you? I know that it says you can ask on the requests thread for some help, which I have been doing, because I thought it was, but some people aren't sure if it is, and I'm wondering if I'm wasting my time.
Oh, and by the way, thanks to everyone who contributed to the guide and video here. It is very impressive and helpful, and if I do ever manage to work out my SID I can't wait to try it out.
