Most Generation PRNG Help / Information

Hmm I tend to miss the first sentence.

And thank you for putting this thread up, helped me get some more UU Shinies to my collection :].

Hey torsoboy, I saw your video, very helpful and very funny xd

Anyway, if I'm just breeding for a shiny egg (no iv manipulation) then I would still need high IV'd good parents right?

Edit: Btw, are you guys going to do videos for IV manipulation, too? I'm still a little confused about the offset/delay stuff

More people should do this.

I took out my ruby game and now getting odd delays.

Score one for the continue screen theory. Yeah, that's probably not it, but it's worked for me. Oh, and I tried with Ranch to make another option pop up, but the DS doesn't have enough time to get the Wii signal while I tap, so that was a no-go on the test. Either way, practically having a Pokemon game in the bottom slot will give you one type of delay, and removing will give the other. Easy. Just make sure to hard reset if you're inserting, or it won't register.

At this point in time I have just downloaded the Oak's Letter and am Soft Resetting for a shiny Shaymin with a Timid syncher.

My question is that by doing this can I con contribute in any way? And if so in what way? If I get my shiny how will this be helpful.

Also, by using a pokemon with synchronise am I hurting my chance of finding a shiny because it may be skipping a shiny frame to go to a Timid one?

I'll be glad to help in any way I could, obviously as long as I don't have to drastically change anything I'm currently doing.
Just reposting since it was missed.

I sent PMs to some users, but I need some input for those who didn't get receive a PM. Interview for the Smog. Please PM me your answers.

The Smog is, of course, the Smogon Magazine. I'm going to ask some general questions, and if you want to respond, awesome, if not, that's fine too. And you don't have to respond to all of them.

What effect did the Platinum Research have on you? (Meaning, the ability to abuse for IVs and shiny eggs in all 4th Generation games)

What effect do you think it had/will have on the WiFi community? Will it start to slowly decline, not be affected?

What general reactions did you get from people? Negative? Positive? Neutral?

How does it affect you personally? Did it crush a lot of the things you did in the past? Or is it generally good for you, considering you can do almost everything yourself?

Is it maybe unfair to some users?

Any other opinions?
I've sent it to you! I hope it's OK.

1) When in D/P, do I still have to start out with the App I have that is after the Happiness Checker, or can I start at the one before it?

2) And if I have to start after it, and am forced to fast-tap all the way through the Poketch, does this hve any effect on the method?

1. You can start before it, but if you are using Diamond or Pearl you should start on the Coin Flipper so that if you end up not having to do any taps on the happiness checker you don't end up flipping to the happiness checker and over shooting your target.

2.If you mean fast tapping all the way to the Happiness checker, no that would have no effect, but even if you fast tap passing over the happiness checker it counts as though you had switched to it.

Oh really? I thought someone on a page way back said that it had the same effect so I was going by that. Maybe test it out, or just don't do it just to be safe, lol.

I would say don't do it just to be safe. If someone gets one with not taps and not supposed to switch to it, just put ok in pc and maybe switch to it if you know how it works.

8. Hatch the egg and/or check its IVs, look at the list of generated frames to find the one that corresponds to the egg/newly hatched Pokemon. Take note of the Frame Number, which, in this case is considered the offset.

I don't understand what i am supposed to look for.

I found the seed based on the wild pokemon's IVs, i checked the egg's IVs and then i hit 'Generate'. How am i supposed to know which frame is the one i want?

I'm assuming you're trying to find the offset.

On the list you got check to see if any matches the IVs of your egg(check only the first 10-12)

If it matches with 4 for example then that's the offset. When you go to the Time Finder use the number you got or keep getting but remember that it changes when you save and reset.

OR... if you tell me the exact IVs of your egg and the time/date you clicked continue I'll find it for you.

But the program doesn't list any IVs... :S
Or do i have to calculate the PID or something?

Anyway:

Egg's IVs: 15/10/30/30/15/31
Date: 20/4/2009
Time: 16:28

Damn. I need the exact seconds to find it with the Time Finder. Or give me the IVs/nature of the pokemon you caught and I'll find it.

Basically, after you get the egg you go and catch a wild pokemon. Check it's IVs and nature and input them into the seed finder. Click Find. You should get a list

Monster ------
Initial -------
Initial-------

It should look like that. Usually it's the initial right below Monster. It should have a delay between 590-650. If not the check below until you find another "Monster". It should be below that. Click on it to highlight and click "OK"

Now click on generate to find your list

Oh, delay is 633.

But i can't have someone else do it for me all the time. Can any of you explain what i'm supposed to look for?

@ DL - Yeah, that's what i did. That's the same procedure we're supposed to follow to save on a shiny egg right? What i'm trying to do is figure out how to get good IVs.

I already calculated my seed and now i need to find the offset but i can't figure out what the egg's IVs have anything to do with it

>_>

Alright, problem solved. I forgot to change the method. I had the egg PID method selected and i was getting PIDs and i uhh... kinda got confused. lol

Sorry, and thanks for the help guys

I'll be glad to help in any way I could, obviously as long as I don't have to drastically change anything I'm currently doing.

If you want to help collect some data (even though it's a bit hard with a syncher) just run the initial seed finder after each one and then generate IVs as method J with timid selected as the syncher. Let me know which frame number has the first instance of your spread for as many as you can give me.

Synching should not hurt your chances for a shiny Pokemon.

Hrm, I will try some more with this and see if removing and adding at least can consistently get the delay to flip flop. Generally emerald is always in my slot-1 and I know I have gotten odds and evens, so I am not 100% sold that it is just the presence of the cart forcing it, but it's worth checking out I suppose.

I will do some testing with J-method also.

Messing around with J method, I got some results. I save, and then walk into grass and count my steps, and I can choose what frame it is once I get the initial seed, and it is right. But when I capture another pokemon, the RNG advances differently.
