MPL IV POWER RANKINGS
(ranked by clearly, paleo, eien, lax, thethorn, attribute, azelea and wanka)

SM

1. New Delhi Naganadels ( 2. Bushtush, 4. -Tsunami-, 6. FLCL, 32. Dandy Highwayman)

As a suprise to no one, the New Delhi Naganadels boast the strongest SM lineup in MPL IV. The lineup is led by Bushtush, the dark knight of monotype, whose behavior usually causes polarizing opinions about him as a user. With all that being said nobody can question the fact how Bushtush keeps providing results in MPL year after year.
The veteran New Delhi Nagadels manager Lax decided draft another old Aeros player in -Tsunami-. While question marks arise about shakes motivation and activity, are his accomplishments in the official tournaments scene very impressive. Last year -Tsunami- managed to grab a positive record in the highly competitive best of three sm slot while playing against players like Eien, TheThorn and rnbs.
Even though FLCL is new to the monotype scene but due to his reputation as possibly the greatest NU player ever to play this game and the manager Lax’s history of getting out insane results out of talented tournament players in monotype tours our rankers had no doubt about his ability to do well in this years MPL. FLCL for 6k would have been the biggest steal of the tournament before the Lotads stole Obii from the Pupitars.
The addition of Dandy Highwayman (also known as Taide) to the New Delhi Nagadels raised many eyebrows among the monotype community. The former alliance member who is known for his unorthodox sets such as brick break Mega Sableye will have to prove the doubters wrong to keep his spot in the starting line up.

Player to watch: Bushtush, will he flame out?

2. Littleroot Lotads ( 3. Pak, 9. Seager, 17. Shiba, 28. Crashy)

The last years runner ups are back at it again with a fierce SM lineup. Although 27k may sound a lot for the likable UU veteran Pak has his results been fairly astonishing. Having just gone 5-2 in the latest Monotype Winter Premier has put Pak's name on the map as one of the best newcomers.
After a bit dissapointing MWP our beloved youtuber is back to prove why belongs among the monotype elite. As a member of the last years Lotads Seager put up tons of important wins for the Lotads including one in the finals. Paired up again with the famous teambuilder TheThorn, Seager should find success.
Shiba has done well in MPL before playing the monotype oms but only time will tell how he will do in SM. Shiba’s inexperience with the tier shouldn’t be issue do the amount of teambuilding support the Lotads have.
It’s hard to find a more experienced monotype player other than Crashy but the big question surrounding him is: “Can Crashy still provide wins?” After going winless in MPL III and undrafted in MWP it will be interesting to see how Crashy will perform in SM.

Player to watch: Seager

3. Pudding Pop Pupitars ( 12. Doubleswitches, 13. Azelea, 16. Kingler12345, 19. Feliburn)

Coming in at third is the Pudding Pop Pupitar SM lineup, who feature four more familiar faces from past Monotype team tours. Up first is doubleswitches, who debuted with a solid performance in MPL3 and has since then cemented his place as one of the better current gen players Monotype has to offer. Azelea starts in the SM2 slot, bringing with him three years of MPL experience which is sure to aid in team morale as the tour runs its course. Finally theres Kingler12345 and Feliburn, who despite having little to no experience starting consistently in Sun Moon, both still seem to have the natural playing ability to contend in the this years weaker Sun Moon player pool.
Although featuring individually solid players, the Pupitar still lack a starter who has consistently played Sun Moon in the past year or who has invested in the current metagame. Where other teams have a star current gen starter somewhere down their lineup, the Pupitars lack a reliable team source to support 5 Sun Moon games per week, which could spell trouble in their longevity late in the tournament.

Player to watch: Doubleswitches, can he carry the heavy load?

4. Saffron Sabers ( 1. Leru, 14. Nat, 20. Harpp, 26. Charmflash)

After making his big entrance last year to the monotype tournament scene Leru’s dominance has been quite scary. Going 5-1 in MPL III and 9-0 in MWP Leru lead his teams to two tournament wins. Our rankers had him as the unanimous number 1 and we expect the german cat girl enthusiast to continue his dominant performances in SM.
Nat made her monotype debut too last year playing monothreat in MPL III for the bucks ending up decent record. However Nat’s real breakout in the monotype scene was in MWP were she went 6-2 in monothreat. While monothreat is not present in MPL IV expect Nat should bring wins to the Saffron Sabers.
Known as a innovative and productive teambuilder, Harpp is ready to make out his breakout entrance to the big scene. With that being said there is still a ton of uncertainty if Harpp yet has what it takes to perform at this level.
OST Semifinalist and Team Austria captain is making his debut in MPL. While undoubtately skilled, questions about Charmflash's motivation and the ability to play monotype in mpl for the first time lurk around. However with Leru’s and Eien’s team support Charmflash could prove to be this years sleeper pick.

Player to watch: Leru, can he still dominate the competition?

5. Meteor Falls Miniors (5. Waszap, 11. Lycans, 18. Teddeh, 29. Xiri)

After winning MPL III, Waszap should feel confident about his ability in SM. The recent Monotype Seasonal II Semifinalist has been a solid performer in tours for the last year and should be able to bring wins for the miniors in SM. The Canadian who is most known for his RMTs and his on going feud with Bushtush has a lot of support also from players like Arifeen and Paleo.
21.5k for a newcomer is a lot but Lycans has no doubt the ability to perform. Paired up on the miniors with Arifeen, Lycans should be motivated enough to play at a high level. Still some may have doubts how much attention this well regarded UU player will give to MPL when WCOP is going on.
After a successful SPL Teddeh, who is most know as a NU and PU player has found his way to MPL. While the same question marks arise that Lycans has, Teddeh has all the tools to make a impact for the Miniors.
Recently Xiri impressed people with his performances in monotype seasonals but as a newcomer to mpl and monotype as a whole Xiri may find it tough accumulate wins here.

Player to watch: Lycans, will he live up to his price?

6. Wakandan Wartortles ( 7. Ima, 8. Wincon, 23. Jase Duken, 27. MJ)

The Wakandan Wartortles manager Ima has been playing monotype for a while now. As a respected veteran, innovative builder and versitile player Ima should carry the load for the Wakandan Warriors.
Probably the most polarizing player in the tournament, Wincon, is making his debut in MPL to prove why he is the best player in the community. Wincon took over the monotype tournament scene by storm last year by winning MLT, Monotype Generations and finishing with a amazing record in MWP (6-2). His most recent accomplishment was finishing as the runner up of Monotype Seasonals II. After looking at these results a big question rises: “Why isn’t he ranked higher?” While some will say that its due to his unbearable personality while others will say he lacks the skill to perform against the top players. One thing is for sure: this tour will either make his legacy or expose him as a fraud
. Jase Duken, the former mpl winner, has returned after a lack luster performance in MWP. Doubts are still up in the air whether he is able to play at this level or not.
MJ has never played Monotype but like other tournament players he could make a impact right away with the right amount of support.

Player to watch: Wincon, the goat or a fraud?

7. Virbank Volcaronas (10. Prosaic, 15. Shadestep, 25. Trichotomy, 31. TheAveng92)

Led by everyones favorite ladder hero Prosaic, the Virbank Volcaronas SM lineup consists of potential stars and busts. Prosaic has dominated the monotype ladder for years now but has failed to make it in the monotype tournament scene. After a 2 year hiatus in MPL he is back again. While MPL 2 was certainly a dissapointment for Prosaic, the Volcaronas managers It’s Hatch and Misaka Mikoto have faith that their star will finally perform at the level expected.
Everyone’s favorite memer Shadestep has returned to play in MPL. While a great overall player his activity and motivation are big concerns this time since he hasn’t really played pokemon for an entire year.
Trichotomy, who almost won the “most likely to bring a sample team award” in MPL 2 is here to change the image of him as a player.
TheAveng92 has shown glimpses of potential here and there but some lingering doubts about his ability to play and build are still around.

Player to watch: Prosaic, will the ladder hero finally prevail?

8. Sunyshore Surskits ( 21. Chaitanya, 22. Quantum Tesseract, 24. Bitana, 30. Cloud9 nxtlvl)

Former BLT Superstar Torkool and BLT manager Tyke drafted a SM lineup that looks like a BLT line up. Led by the Indian WCOP star Chaitanya, whose innovative builds and aggressive play style has impressed the members of the community. Chaitanya has a lot of star potential while he could end up as a bust. However if he gets his confidence up in the first week he could be a fearsome player.
Quantum Tesseract is back after a successful MWP where went 6-3 in Mono Stabmons, this om veteran has a lot of tricks up his sleeve. Still this will be QT’s first time playing SM mono at a high level and does he have enough talent to play SM in MPL? Only time will tell.
Bitana is making his mono team tour debut in MPL IV. Big question is can the MLT finalist shake away the reputation of being a “average” player.
Cloud9 nxtlvl is someone who has been looking their way in to the monotype tournament scene for a long time and has finally gotten a chance to really show their potential. As someone who didnt get even get drafted for the latest edition of BLT, C9 truly has a lot to prove.
