Oh anime conventions, I love them. The cosplay, the people being crazy, the art, the merchandise they'll be selling, the hentai...I mean the Gundam models! Oh yes...the Gundam models...
That goes without saying that there will be a Pokemon tournament (which I intend to win).
they do have some rules though:
no ubers
no legendaries
1-hit KO clause
sleep clause
evasion clause
species clause
item clause
Aside from that, I'm basing my team around Slaking and Cofagrigus. Also, realize that this team is in game and it will take too long to get my hands on any more Battle Subway items or perfect IVs. I also want to add another challenge for myself so I plan to use at least 1 Pokemon from each generation.
Slaking @ Lum Berry
Trait: Trunt
EVs: 100 HP / 252 Atk / 156 Spe
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA)
- Return
- Earthquake
- Pursuit
- Slack Off
It's basic, Return is for stab and Earthquake hits everything else outside of Skarmory and flying ghost types. Pursuit hits those who are running away which is explained in Cofagrigus' analysis. Slack Off helps heal off damage. Many Pokemon out there are going to use status inducing moves to slow Slaking down which makes the Lum Berry favourable. Max attack allows Slaking to hit super hard while I use some HP EVs to help Slack Off heal more and speed EVs to speed anything that has over 125 speed.
Cofagrigus @ Sitrus Berry
Trait: Mummy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Mean Look
- Curse
- Rest
- Destiny Bond
This guy's an oddball. It's more of a sacrifice than anything else. I'll admit, Dusclops is better at using this set however, I need the Mummy ability in order to rid of Slaking's Traunt. The EV spread is to minimize damage from physical attacks which is what I plan for Cofagrigus to be hit by. The strategy is simple, use Mean Look to trap a physical attacker that will be inflicted by Mummy. This will be hard and their ability must be something not worth much. For example, this will work well on Tyranitar but not Machamp. Curse is to give reason for the foe to switch and Slaking will catch them on the switch using Pursuit. I use the Sitrus Berry to automatically heal 25% of Cofagrigus' HP after it uses Curse. Rest is to add to the stall and Destiny Bond is to possibly make use of it latter in the game. Severely hampered by Taunt and Encore.
Espeon @ Light Clay
Trait: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Morning Sun
- Psychic
A simple dual screen strategy to help my team take more hits. Magic Bounce sends back many threats and helps my team greatly. Morning Sun is not a reliable healing move but it will aid in survival. Psychic is there for stab, it might be a poor offensive option but it's the best Espeon can do. Physical attacks are Espeon's bane which aids in my strategy.
Machamp @ Expert Belt
Trait: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SpA)
- Dynamicpunch
- Stone Edge
- Bullet Punch
- Payback
Should of mentioned my anti-lead first. Anyways, this set is self explanatory, hit as many things as hard as possible and when something switches in, switch out to adapt to it. The EV spread is to maximize attack then durability. It can easily take down the dastardly duo of Ferrothorn and Jellicant. There's not much else to say. Since there's item clause, I can't use the Lum Berry so I use an Expert Belt as this set can hit many types for super effective damage. On top of that, I can switch out to Espeon to bounce back status moves.
Whimsicott @ Leftovers
Trait: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature (+Def, -SpA)
- Leech Seed
- Taunt
- Encore
- Stun Spore
Another man with no attacks? Encore will get the foe trapped using weak moves while paralysis is great for team support. Taunt is also incredibly annoying and can work well in tandem with Encore. It can shut down stat boosters and walls with ease and then cause them to switch out allowing it to lay down Leech Seed. Most priority moves are physical so maximum physical defence is used. Leftovers is to heal off excess damage. Moves like Toxic can be a real pain for this set but Espeon is there to send them back. Mamoswine and Scizor do cause this set quite a bit of trouble with their priority move and that explains my final teammate.
Rotom @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature (SpA+, -Atk)
- Thunderbolt
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball
- Trick
A basic Trick user and sweeper. Heat Rotom is able to take majority of commonly priority that is likely to be aimed at my team and then come back with an easy KO. Max special attack and speed are used for obvious reasons. The moves are easy to understand and Trick shuts down a lot of enemies. Whimsicott is resistant to water moves and Machamp is resistant to rock moves. It also deals with Ferrothorn and Jellicant with ease. It helps Whimsicott even more by taking care of grass types using Overheat.
