My battle against my cousin; kind of a warstory

This was my 3 vs. 3 Singles battle against my cousin. He was a couple years older than me, and always gave me and my brother Pokemanz advice during the RBY days. He stayed somewhat competitive even after the fad died down, and he always can beat me lol. It was a pretty fun battle, I don't know how entertaining to read, but I had fun playing. Enjoy.

I sent out my trusty Zapdos, while my cousin lead with Gliscor. Interesting, but I guess he uses it like Swampert, to get Stealth Rocks in play right away. I use Hidden Power (which happens to be Ice Base Power 69), but he switches to empoleon, and the attack does lol. Predicting a Gliscor switch, I use Hidden Power again, but instead connects with Rhyperior, doing a nice 50%.

At this point I realize I have little to stop a full-health Rhyperior. I Subsitute a couple of times, each being broken by Stone Edges. I try to Roost to full health to Pressure-stall its Stone Edges away, but he predicts that and Earthquakes me. 2-3 him.

I then send out my Ludicolo. Knowing that it would be suicide for him to stay in, he switches, and I assume correctly that he switches to Empoleon. The Energy Ball I prepared for it did about 20%, but it did lower its Special Defense. I Energy Ball it again for about 30% thanks to the SpDef drop, and he Ice Beams me for about 25%. I realize that this is a good time to set up Blaziken, so I use Sunny Day while he Ice Beams me again. I then switch to Blaziken, who takes an Ice Beam for about 20%. He runs to Gliscor, assuming a Choice Bander, while I Swords Dance.

This was my turning point. I Endure while he Earthquakes me, leaving me at 1 HP. I then use retaliate with STAB'd, Blaze-boosted, Sun-boosted Blaze Kick, which OHKOs (and the sun fades). 2-2. He sends in Rhyperior, and I Reversal it back. 2-1. He then sends out Empoleon. Just when I felt that I had finally won, he uses Aqua Jet.

Now it's Empoleon vs. Ludicolo, and it's hopeless. I Leech Seed him while he nails me with Ice Beam for 25%. I hit him with Energy Ball for 20% (no spdef drop this time unfortunately), while he Ice Beams me, and I freeze. I stay frozen a couple more turns while he Ice Beams me a couple of times. And he wins. I know it will be a while before I can beat him.

So yeah. Discuss.

If not for Freeze hax, you probably would have beat him. Leech Seed + Energy Ball those couple of turns you were frozen would have finished Empoleon.

Sigh... No more comments? I don't see why people think that all battles against real-life friends/relatives are Staraptor/Dialga/Torterra battles. It was an alright battle I tohught.

Anyways, thanks for the comment. (not plural unfortunately) I know, it was so unfair! TT-TT

Yeah, I think thats why. Try looking at some of the other war-stories =D

Get an idea on how to format it, and you should get loads more comments! =D

Why would you predict a switch to Gliscor? It could come in safely on thunderbolt, but at this point he probably knows that you've got HP Ice (since it was NVE against Empoleon), so it's slower (remember, he switched out of you first) and would be OHKO'd. Granted, HP ice was the right move to make in that case, but your reason for using it was a bit odd.

Not that it would've been much use, but he wasted Rhyperior if Blaziken was in Aqua Jet range.

Overall, alright for a 3v3, though a better format would've been nice.

I like the text-format warstories, plus I don't really want to do a log format, like this:

Ludicolo used energy Ball (20%)
Empoleon used Ice Beam (25%)
Ludicolo was frozen solid!
Empoleon's Leftovers restored a little health
Ludicolo's Leftovers restored a little health

because this wasn't really a serious battle. I guess I could try re-formatting it.

About the Gliscor thing, even though he's a little older he seems younger, he's just that annoying, if it was a serious battle I would have predicted differently. And for Rhyperior, I had Ludicolo left, so he was dead anyways. Plus he's just that cruel, he wanted me to think that I had won before Aqua Jet'ing my Blaziken to death, the cruel bastard. >=[ (j/k of course)

I like 3v3 and I thought it was an interesting battle. 3v3 are quicker and more decisive generally, and this match shows it. I wish there was more 3v3 competitive play but I can see why 6v6 is preferred generally, it takes out a little bit of the luck so skill can show through better. Unfortunately you got put on the bad side of that 3v3 luck with that freeze

I liked it but you shouldn't have left Zapdos in imo
Well, Ludicolo would have taken massive damage from a Stone Edge, losing its power to be annoying. Stone Edge has max 8 PP, so he only could have used it 4 times at the most thanks to Pressure. Then I could have beat his entire team with Zappy. I just didn't know he'd have predicted a Roost.

This isn't very interesting or well written. You just sort of say what happened with very little insight on the matter. The rough %s and paragraph format also kind of confuse matters. The whole thing seems like you're very disinterested and it's kind of a chore to tell us what happened rather than something you or I should care about.

well, It's really hard to read and unclear, It seems like a chore.

I actually like the paragraph format.

Good job on the battle, though, you would've won but for freeze hax (which wasn't so random, because he used it multiple times, but he still got lucky). Call your cousin stupid for not sending out Empoleon initially, so he could save his Rhyperior. ;P It probably wouldn't've mattered much, but whatever.

I also like 3 on 3s. Short and sweet. =D

*Agrees*
