Hi everyone, this is my first thread on smogon, it's a bit dull to look at i know, because i don't yet know how to create banners and things, etc. Anyway this is my current OU team and i thought i'd post it here to see what other people think of it, and to get advice on how i could improve my team and its movesets, items, abilitys, natures, etc. All of these pokemon are my own (except chingmans swampert), and have been ev trained by me with no hacks at all. none of them are RNG'd either as i don't know how to RNG and i'd rather raise pokemon myself and see how they turn out, i consider RNG to be unfair, to be honest, flawless pokemon are overrunning smogon.
My Aerodactyl @ focus sash / ability - rock head / nature - jolly.
Moveset: stealth rock, taunt, rock slide, earthquake.
HP 271, ATT 295, DEF 150, SPA 137, SPD 155, SPEED 390.(at lvl 100 in wifi)
EVS given: 4 HP, 252 ATT, 252 SPEED.
IV's: 0/17/15/28/0/27.
Aerodactyl is often used as the lead pokemon of my team, he outspeeds every other lead 90% of the time. i gave him taunt to prevent the opponents lead from setting up stealth rock or stat boosts. and then after taunting i will either set up my own stealth rock, or proceed to batter the opponent around a bit with rock slide and earthquake, earthquake is brilliant for dealing with leads such as infernape, and rock slide has a chance to flinch opponents.
My Tyranitar @ going to add lifeorb maybe / ability - sand stream / nature - adamant.
moveset: stealth rock, earthquake, stone edge, payback.
HP 394 ATT 313 DEF 233 SPA 183 SPD 278 SPEED 144.(at lvl 100 in wifi)
EVS given: 252 HP 32 ATT 224 SP.D.
IV's: 21/4/8/9/17/17.
I added tyranitar to my team because my friend had a dragondance tyranitar that got on my nerves, and i thought id get my own tyranitar since they are a good asset to teams in my oppinion. i will sometimes send out tyranitar as my lead, and then after his ability activated a sandstorm, i may sometimes switch to aerodactyl, due to sandstorm not damaging it, and also sandstorm slightly boosts aerodactlys defence. i gave tyranitar payback to deal with leads such as azelf, and gave him stealth rock incase aerodactyl didnt get a chance to set it up himself.
My Dragonite @ life orb / inner focus / adamant.
dragon dance, dragon claw, earthquake, roost.
HP 368 ATT 315 DEF 211 SPA 198 SPD 231 SPEED 242.(at lvl 100 in wifi)
EVS given: 252 HP 52 ATT 204 SPEED.
IV's: 13/1/16/15/26/26.
i put dragonite on my team because i really like them...anyway the idea behind this moveset is to send dragonite out against something that doesnt do very well against it, and hope that they switch out, giving me a free chance to get a dragon dance boost in. i chose dragon claw instead of outrage because i find dragon claw more reliable as you dont get trapped into it for 2-3 turns...roost is there to recover from life orb recoil damage, and earthquake is the to deal big damage on foes that take serious damage from it, as they wont be expecting earthquake on a dragonite.
My Jolteon @ choice specs / volt absorb / timid.
charge beam, shadow ball, hp dragon 34, thunderbolt.
HP 254 ATT 145 DEF 149 SPA 297 SPD 220 SPEED 375.(at lvl 100 in wifi)
EVS given: 4 DEF 252 SPA 252 SPEED.
IV's: 14/27/23/9/25/13.
i really like this jolteons power to sweep many teams pokemon with ohkoes and 2hkoes. his high special attack stat makes this happen. and his high investment in speed lets him outspeed basiclly everything. the original idea for this moveset was to use charge beam to finish off foes on low health, and hopefully get a boost in special attack, from the move too. however since i didnt have a life orb available i gave jolteon choice specs instead, which limits him to the use of only 1 move. therefore i tend to just spam thunderbolts at the opponent, which always 2hkoes atleast. shadow ball is there for if i predict the foe is going to switch out to a pokemon that resists electric. i hardly ever use hp dragon, as it wasnt intended to be dragon type, but thats the way it is...but meh it comes in handy sometimes.
Chingman78's Swampert @ leftovers / torrent/ relaxed.
stealth rock, earthquake, ice beam, protect.
HP 403 ATT 257 DEF 304 SPA 204 SPD 211 SPEED 127.(at lvl 100 in wifi)
EVS given: 252 HP 4 ATT 252 DEF.
IV's: 30/31/29/29/26/17.
this is my most recent new addition to my team, it replaced my scizor, which i never found reliable to be honest, due to its 4x weakness to fire type moves. swampert has improved my team so much better than when i had scizor. the idea behind this moveset is stealth rock if i havent yet already done...and protect is there to scout out the enemies movesets. icebeam is to deal with dragon and flying types...and earthquake is there to get rid of enemy scizors who i really hate.
My Gengar @ possibly will replacae expert belt with life orb / levitate / hasty.
replacing hypnosis with explosion or pain split, substitute, focus punch, shadow ball.
HP 255 ATT 189 DEF 131 SPA 331 SPD 165 SPEED 343.( at lvl 100 in wifi)
EVS given: 100 ATT 156 SPA 252 SPEED.
IV's: 25/29/21/27/10/24.
gengar can fail very badly if hypnosis accuracy lets him down. however, the idea behind this moveset is that i use hypnosis to sleep the foe, and then i am free to set up a substitute, or fire off a focus punch at the enemy. focus punch can ohkoe blissey after stealth rock damage, which is usefull. shadow ball is there just to deal with psychic types basiclly.
so that's my team.
