Introduction

A big Hello to all the members of Smogon. This is the first team I will be posting on here. From the team preview you would see that it is pretty offensive sun based weather team. I decided for Black and White I would try my hand at making a sunny day team because in the other pokemon games, I had already made some rain and sandstorm teams. I got the name Team Caribbean simply because I live on a small island in the Caribbean by the name of Barbados. Some of you may of heard of it through the singer Rihanna who is from here. I will take any form of criticism, suggestions etc in order to make this team much better. Changes will be in red.

Previous Members.

Cloyster (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Skill Link
EVs: 248 HP / 84 Atk / 176 Def
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Speed)
hp fire
rapid spin
icicle spear
ice shard
(replaced by Starmie)
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Closer look at the team.

Ninetales (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Drought
EVs: 120 HP / 252 SAtk / 136 Speed
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Toxic
- will o wisp
- Fire Blast
- Protect

Like most sun based teams, to have ninetails on it is pretty much standard. The main function of ninetails on my team is to boost to fire attacks of my fire moves, allowing them to hit much harder, at the same time weakening water attacks and also getting rid of other weather effects which would otherwise help other enemy teams giving them an advantage. The move set doesn't need that much explanation. Fireblast is there for a reliable Sun-boosted STAB attack that can do a fair amount of damage to anything that doesn't resist it. I decided to go with will o wisp to cripple those physical attackers, especially Dragon Dance users who like to switch into ninetails to try and get a free setup. Toxic is normally for walls that are hard to break down through sheer force and other weather inducers, as poisoning them severely limits their durability. Protect is there to scout for moves of my opponents pokemon, it also gives a free chance to get back some health with leftovers and also allowing some more damage to rack up on the pokemon who took a will o wisp or toxic.

Lilligant (F) @ Leftovers
Trait: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SDef / 252 Speed
Timid Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Giga Drain
- Quiver Dance
- Sleep Powder
- Hidden Power [Ice]

I chose Lilligant over Venusaur and Victreebel for a couple of reasons. Those reasons being, it is faster than both, has higher special attack and has access to one of the best boosting moves, quiver dance. I love lilligant so much because unlike other Chlorophyll users, it isn't really dependent on sun. Sun for it is just an added bonus for that extra speed pretty much. With quiver dance on the set, it can sweep under any of the weather conditions with no fear of losing the sunlight. I put hidden power ice on the set instead of hp fire so that I could hit those damn dragons which would otherwise wall my dear Lilligant. Sleep powder gives me a chance to set up or switch out safely to a counter pokemon. Gigadrain is for a STAB move and allows me to get back some health.

Salamence (M) @ lum berry
Trait: Intimidate
Naughty Nature (+Atk, -Sdef)
EVs: 6 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Speed
-Outrage
-Fire Blast
-Earthquake
-Dragon dance

My physical sweeper of the team. When this pokemon gets going, it is really hard to take it down. I like to send this powerhouse out when I get a sleep powder on a pokemon with Lilligant. I sometimes use it early in the game to punch some holes in the opposing team with Outrage, or to finish off weakened teams in later stages of the battle. Earthquake is used to take down heatran if Terrakion dies a little to early. Fire Blast and Earthquake give Salamence perfect coverage together, allowing me to predict opponents' moves and react accordingly. Fire Blast helps me to take down things like skarmory and scizor who have pretty terrible sdef. With sun backing Fire Blast, it puts a serious hurting on both of these pokemon.

Heatran (F) @ Leftovers/Air Baloon
Trait: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 Sdef / 252 Speed
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Magma Storm
- Earth Power
- stealth rock
- toxic (previously hp ice)

Heatran, I wanted a pokemon which would be able to take fire attacks for Lilligant boosting her own fire attacks.I also wanted it on my team so I could take dragon attacks. Easily I chose Heatran. The Ev spread is pretty standard. I choose Mamga Storm because I just love that move,it allows me to trap the pokemon of my opponents who like to double switch. Earthpower helps me to take out other pesky heatrans and fire types. Toxic helps me to shut down specials wall who would wall this set.

Terrakion @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Justified
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Speed
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stone Edge
- Close Combat
- X-Scissor
- Earthquake (previously Quick attack)

The goal of Terrakion in this team is simple, go in, hit hard and fast, he gives me the offensive power that I need in order to get a lot of necessary sweeps. Sometimes I think about changing his nature to Adamant to get that little extra power.

121.gif

Starmie @ Leftovers/Expert Belt
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs:
32 HP / 248 SAtk / 228 Spd

Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Hidden Power Fire
- Thunderbolt
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam

Before I write about Starmie. I will give the credit to Harsha since I got the move set and ev spread from looking at his Sunny day team which included it.Cloyster was previously here. I had replaced it with Donphan cause I really liked ice shard and I wanted another spinner which could learn it, it has saved my ass so many times.Cloyster had to go since he takes extra damage from stealth rock due to his water ice typing. I tried Donphan and Donphan worked pretty well but I decided to then replace him with Starmie cause I wanted another pokemon with water resistance and I didn't want to lose my spinning.. Yes I loose the priority with ice shard but I gain speed and better coverage with Starmie. By adding Starmie to the team, it gives me some extra help in combating rain teams. Ice beam is there to put hurting on the dragon types while thunderbolt helps me take on the flying types and water types like DD Gyarados. Hp fire helps me to put some damage on Ferrothorn.

Try this set, with Lifeorb Lilli you will be able to take out at least 2 pokemon, KOing leads expect ninetails.
They want to switch? sleep power, they staying? Leaf storm. Try leading with her for a few rounds :)

Thanks, I'll try it out and see how it works

I'd just like to point out that your Salamence is currently illegal. Moxie Salamence can have either Outrage or Dragon Dance, but not both.

In my opinion I think you've got the Cloyster set a bit wrong.

Cloyster is my physical wall of the team and rapid spinner.

His ice typing is a bad typing for a wall, as it is hit for super effective damage by rock and fighting, two main attacking types in OU. Your Heatran should also be able to take out standard Sub Gliscors, as they generally only run earthquake.

I think a Forretress set would benefit your team more.

Forretress (F) @ Shed Shell/Leftovers Trait: Sturdy
IVs: 0 Speed

EVs: 252 HP / 176 Def / 80 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Rapid Spin
- Spikes/Toxic Spikes

- Volt Switch/Earthquake
- Gyro Ball

This Forretress can Rapid Spin SR and Spikes away as well as setting them up. Spikes or Toxic Spikes depending on your preference, although Spikes would be better for an offensive team like yours. Volt Switch to keep momentum on your side or Earthquake if you need to hit steel types hard. Gyro Ball hits things hard and 0 IVs helps that. The EVs buff up defence while still ebing able to take some special hits.

Also, your team is very Rock Polish Terrakion weak. All of your members are weak to either X Scissor, Stone Edge or Close Combat, Terrakion's main moves. With RP Terrakion outspeeds your whole team and can OHKO them with the appropriate move. Gliscor can survive an Adamant Max Attack Stone Edge and do large damage with Earthquake.

Gliscor (F) @ Toxic Orb Trait: Poison Heal
EVs: 252 HP / 180 Def / 76 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Protect
- Earthquake
- Swords Dance
- Ice Fang

SD on the first Stone Edge, Protect on the second to get 1/8th of your HP back, and then use Earthquake. Ice Fang is also there to hit Flying types that resist EQ for super effective damage and it hits most dragons for 4x effective damage (bar Haxorus and Hydreigon). The EVs allow Gliscor to take a max Attack Adamant Stone Edge and hit back hard while still outspeeding some things. However, beware of a Rock Gem boosted Stone Edge as that will OHKO Gliscor most of the time. Luckily, its not common.

Finally, either change Fire Blast on Salamence to Fire Fang because the -SpAtk nature will not do as much damage as it could, or change the nature to an attack boosting one, like Naughty. You do not need a speed boosting nature as you are running Dragon Dance and this will allow Fire Blast to do as much damage as possible. Salamence has enough bulk to survive a neutral attack, making an attack boosting nature a better option. Naughty may lower SpDef, but you should be able to tell when the opposing pokemon has an ice attack and switch out or if you have a DD up, then you don't need to worry, just take it out.

Rock Polish Terrakion almost never runs X-Scissor, so that's not a problem, although Gliscor would be a good help to the team. Just some minor things, if you're trying out the Leaf Storm lilligant, then give it hp rock over hp ice, and make the ev spread 252 spA/36 spD/220 spe to be faster than a +2 modest volcarona while maintaining at least a little bulk.
On Salamence, don't change Fire Blast to Fire Fang either. Fire Blast is to take out the steels who are physically defensive such as Skarmory.
I'm also going to agree with AuraRayquaza about Cloyster. I had a sun team based around lilligant with cloyster rapid spin support, and it was amazing, I loved it, but there was way too much of a problem with my rapid spinner being weak to stealth rocks while taking damage from spikes and toxic spikes. Forretress does a better job, or even Donphan can do a great job since he can lay down rocks and free up your Heatran to be a powerhouse since it doesn't need stealth rock. Donphan also learns Ice Shard and Roar, so you could choose either for stopping opposing dragons from setting up and doing too much damage.
I hope this helped and GL with the team!

Hey,

Pretty cool team. I have a few suggestions that should be able to make it function more effectively. First, I think you could make better use of Magma Storm Heatran. It's a pretty fun set to play with, but you could probably make better use of it to remove Lilligant's main counters. By using Toxic over Hidden Power Ice and Leftovers over an Air Balloon, you can effectively shut down Chansey and Blissey, although admittedly, this isn't as effective without Taunt. However, it should do fine, and once Chansey and Blissey are gone, Lilligant can have a field day. Now, another thing to consider is using a better spinner. At this point, you have one switch-in to rain teams: Lilligant. Cloyster either gets OHKOed or 2HKOed by most attacks that rain teams will carry, so it can't effectively spin for you. You should try out a bulky Starmie to patch this up, and effectively spin for you so that Salamence has an easier time setting up.

For some final, minor changes, definitely change your EVs on Ninetales and Salamence; Salamence should have its HP EVs moved so it has 4 Special Defense, and Ninetales should have 248 HP. Choice Scarf Terrakion is already fairly fast, so in my opinion, just use Earthquake over Quick Attack. This hits Jirachi much harder if the point ever comes by where you need to quickly kill one.

Starmie @ Leftovers
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 28 Def / 228 Spe
Timid Nature (+Spe, -Atk)
- Recover
- Rapid Spin
- Psyshock
- Thunderbolt
Cool team and good luck. I hope I helped out.

Thanks a lot, I will implement some of these changes

I don't see what good Solar Beam will do on Heatran.
Against Rain or sand, it takes a turn too long.
Against ~ Rain, they're not going to switch in a water pokemon when someone w/ EQ will do.

Also, I don't understand your Ninetales... weather races are a race to 2nd place, yet you've got speed EVs and a neutral speed nature. Low speed natures also afford to give Ninetales a role in combating trick room teams... something your tream seems to have a problem with as is, no?

Look up specially defensive ninetails on the below link. It should help you to understand the evs and nature better. I just double checked my ninetails. It is indeed a modest natured one with a different ev spread. I didn't even realize my mistake till you said something about it.
