My First Car Wreck!

Today, I got into my first car wreck. I rear ended someone in the school parking lot. He got out of his car, looked at the damage, and then just drove off. I just drove home as well. I told my parents and they handled the police report and everything. Overall, it wasn't nearly as bad as I expected. This got me thinking: What was your first car accident and how bad was it?

Never been in a car wreck. Two years ago in the snow when I first learned to drive I almost wrecked. Started swerving left, so I tried to pull back and went wayy right. Then i went left and did a complete 180 in the road. It was a 5 lane road. Luckily, I didn't hit anything. I pulled over took used my inhaler and then got back on the road.

Yesterday though someone rear ended me in the school lot. It was a short bump. I looked in my mirror and they were just texting, like nothing happened. So I thought maybe I just stalled the car but it was still going. I looked left and there was a cop! So I pointed back and like looked confused and he shook his head yes so I pulled over. No damage. Everyone was looking so I was like fuck it and left because the cop said it wasn't worth the report. Then the girl called me like omg logey I'm so sorry!

Been in one where a lane was ending and the light was yellow going on red. So I swerved into the lane that was next to me(it was either that or hit a pole and it happened so fast I didn't have time to think about it). I barely nudged the guy that was also going through but it ended up costing 380 bucks. He said that I was a good kid and handled myself professionally so he gave me my money back. Haven't been in one since.

I was driving down a friend's drive way two years ago. It was extremely icy. I was going around a slight turn in the driveway when I turned the wheel and kept going forwards. I hit the brakes, but the ABS didn't even kick in. My car just kept skidding forward... And then I plowed through a small snow bank, taking it our completely and going through it. That's when one of my tires started going down a hill and the other staying on a concrete block that was supporting the road because there was a stream that ran below it. My can flipped over onto its side, and my window landed right next to the stream. I look out and all I can see is the water right next to my face and immediately think I'm going to drown. Good thing the water was two inches deep.

I wasn't driving, but one day, after school, my brother was driving us home. I had fallen asleep. [FORESHADOWING]

So yeah, we get to this long winding road called, ominously, Snake Road. There was a bayou on one side of us (a really, really big ditch, for those of you who don't know) and we were passing up this church/CEMETARY (don't worry, no one died) and...

That's when my brother fell asleep...

Well, we start sliding off the road, barely miss a telphone pole, hit a pothole, soar into the air, flip multiple times (the police report said three or four),and land on our side in the bayou. Then the car righted itself... Needless to say we had both woken up by this point, and thankfully, it hadn't rained recently, otherwise we very well might have drowned.

But, as it just so happened, we escaped the wreck without a scratch on either of us. I did have a slight skin irritation where the seatbelt had held me in place, but if I hadn't been wearing a seatbelt, it could have been a lot worse.

Go safety procedures!

I wasnt driving on this occasion thankfully, as if I was, I'd have been very disappointed in myself.

The driver of the car I was in was always a jittery, indecisive and unsure driver, at the best of times. But no accidents had come from her driving before this so meh.

We hit a major intersection and she lines up in the lane for turning right. Across from us on the opposite side in the opposing turning lane is a large minivan. The minivan obscures my drivers view partially of anything immediately behind it.

This was enough for her to proceed through and try to turn (Against COMMON SENSE), just as another car comes at 75kph directly into my side door pushing it into the interior about a foot and a half, spraying my neck and underarm with glass from my window and catapulting the car into its right two wheels with my side of the car about 4-5 feet off the ground as the car is pushed about 15metres back.

As the car comes to a rest directly in the middle of the intersection, I try the door handle (instinctively/force of habit) and naturally, it fails haha. So I pull myself out of the window (Dukes of hazard ftw) and make for the sidewalk as fast as I can. Thankfully, when there is an accident of this sort, other cars tend to slow up or stop so I wasn't in any danger.

After I pulled the glass out of my neck and arm, I remember that I watched the car hit and didn't stop watching, even remembering the look on the other cars driver & passengers faces as they realised it was waaaayyyy too late to hit the brakes haha.

I had no injuries from the crash, despite the car being a total write-off.

Luckyyyy...

A car rear-ended a Lincoln Navigator my dad was driving. My sister and her friend were in the very back. They were covered in broken glass, but only had superficial wounds. Any faster and.... Well let's just say that was lucky.

Driving a 1990 Plymouth Horizon, two weeks before I was to upgrade to my intermediate license, I was taking my friend home from school. In order to get from school to his house, the fastest route was down a little back road that was only wide enough for one car.

As I pulled up to intersection, another car was coming out so I cordially waited my turn. It wasn't a busy street so she pulled right out after checking traffic. Right then, another student who wasn't paying attention rear ended me at about 35 mph.

His car was a 1997 Dodge Neon. The front left corner of the car was completely smashed in. The headlight housing was completely demolished. Hood was crumpled in. The works. I think it ended up being over $1,200 in damage. His father is a doctor. No big deal.

My car? I picked up a small plastic end-cap that had fallen off my rear bumper, threw it in the front seat and drove home. After informing my dad about what happened, we proceeded to place the end-cap back on the bumper using no more than three strips of duct tape.

I've been in a few really bad car accidents, but only ever was driving during one...

The one I was driving in was horrible, wrecked my 93 ford probe.

Missouri has really curvy highways. I was driving down one one day when my front tire popped while going around a really sharp turn, which caused me to take it too sharp, which in turn caused me to ram into a tree, totaling the best car I've ever owned...
