Hello there. I'm an old Pokemon trainer from back int he DPPt days. I was involved with the meta game back then, but I've been out of the loop for the past 4 years. So yeah, a lot has changed. I'm wanting to try my hand at the game again though, so I've been working on a new team. I've tested this one in Showdown about 50-60 times now:
Swampert @ Leftovers
Ability: Damp
EVs: 240 HP / 16 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Earthquake
- Scald
- Toxic
- Stealth Rock
My usual starting Pokemon, unless I can tell that my opponent will start with a grass type like Ferrothorn or Breloom. He's kind of standard; set up Stealth Rock, use Toxic on threats that switch in--really useful against Latios and Latias, and Scald is good for burning Steel types that switch in.
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 220 SpD / 40 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Taunt
- Protect
Heatran I tend to use in tandem with Dragonite and Swampert. Standard SpD set. Toxic and taunt are great for threats that try to attack Mega-Scizor and Clefable. So, she works good as a tank for those two as well.
Dragonite @ Leftovers
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 216 HP / 64 Atk / 228 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Claw
- ExtremeSpeed
- Roost
Dragonite makes a nice counter to a steel and fire types that like to switch in on Clefable and Mega-Scizor, and also grass types that like to switch in on Greninja and Swampert. She also is good at sharing tanking with Heatran and Swampert. She does have trouble against Mega-Venasaur and other dragons. I wish she had more attack power though....
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Calm Nature
- Moonblast
- Flamethrower
- Calm Mind
- Soft-Boiled
I use Clefable as a bit of tank and also a setup sweeper, depending on the fight. Naturally, she lures out steel and fire types, which I can often let Swampert and Dragonite handle in most cases. She's great at setting up on special attackers once her threats have been cleared. She does have a lot of trouble with teams that have Bisharp and Mega-Metagross on them--which are also banes to my whole team.
Scizor(Mega) @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 84 Atk / 176 SpD
Impish Nature
- Knock Off
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Roost
Mega-Scizor is a standard setup sweeper. Works great with Clefable, Heatran and Dragonite.
Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Extrasensory
- Hidden Power [Grass]
Greninja is my revenge killer. He does well on taking down dragon and fighting types that like to switch out on Dragonite and Heatran, and if something fast is challenging me.
Overall: I can handle a lot of threats okay if I play my cards right. Mega-Venasaur, Bisharp and Mega-Metagross are hard for me to deal with though. Also, SpD walls give me a lot of trouble as well I feel. Sometimes I feel like I lack a certain bite to my team though--especially with Dragonite, but I'm not sure though. I do have to say though that Mega-Metagross gives me A LOT of trouble, and has swept my whole team before.
