Hey guys! I've never done this before, but I think its about time I made a singles team and had it rated. I'm fairly new at both RMT and making teams so anything helps right now. Okay...here goes nothing.
Aerodactyl Focus sash
Ability: Pressure
EVS: 252 Atk / 4 HP / 252 Spd
Nature: Jolly
-Stealth Rock
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Taunt
This is the old school Aerodactyl set. I remember using this set as a lead since gen 4. First off, Stealth Rock is made to add some additional damage to make my Lucario's, my physical sweeper, job a little easier. I carry Taunt in case I run into pokemon that may try to set up in front of me. It's also useful for Baton Passers or pokemon that try to set up rocks or spikes as well. Earthquake and Stone Edge are there to provide some damage in case I get another turn after I set up my rocks. I chose Focus Sash so that Stealth Rock is almost always guaranteed and it keeps Aerodactyl on the field for one more turn to deal some deal some extra damage.
Lucario Life Orb
Ability: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 HP / 252 Spd
Nature: Adamant
-Close Combat
-Ice Punch
-Extreme Speed
-Sword Dance
Next up is my Lucario. Lucario is my favorite Pokemon so this is the Pokemon I mainly built my team around. In this team he acts as my late game sweeper. I usually make him Jolly, but this time I made him Adamant so that he can output the most amount of damage that he can. Close Combat is his strongest STAB move. It allows him to take out plenty of rock and steel types that my team may come in contact with. Taking out rock types is extremely beneficial to my Charizard since that is what he is most afraid of. Ice Punch is used to combat dragon types and ground types, especially Glisocr. Extreme Speed allows him to get those revenge kills on any weakened pokemon that may come its way. Sword Dance is used to get that +2 boost that he will need to sweep to the best of his ability. Life Orb just adds on to the amount of damage that Lucario can output.
Charizard Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
Evs: 252 Sp.Atk / 4 HP / 252 Spd
Nature: Timid
-Fire Blast
-Roost
-Solar Beam
-Focus Blast
Do I even have to explain this set. This is the usual Mega-Charizard Y set. I use him to pave the way for my Lucario to get his sweep off. I chose Timid over Modest because his neutral SpAtk is already incredible and that Sunny Day boost to his fire attacks makes it even more incredible. Fire Blast is used as his stab that tears down anything that doesn't resist. This takes care of all the bulky grass types and steel types that I am not confident with my Lucario taking on. Roost is used so that my Charizard can stay in battle longer. The natural bulk that he is blessed allows Roost to be very viable. Solar Beam takes care of those water types and ground types like Greninja, Hippowdon, and Gastordon that Lucario definitely cannnot take on. This also helps Excadrill as he cannot take on Ground types either. Focus Blast takes care of those rock types like Tyranitar that may stop Charizard's sweep.
Excadrill Choice Scarf
Ability: Mold Breaker
Evs: 252 Atk / 4Hp / 252 Spd
Nature: Jolly
-Rapid Spin
-Earthquake
-Rock Slide
-Iron Head
Excadrill's is my momentum stopper. Excadrill is a powerful pokemon that has decent speed. With Choic Scarf increasing his speed he can tear through a bunch of threats that would otherwise destroy my team. First off, Rapid Spin gets rid of rocks that my Charizard definitely does not want. However, I am still a little iffy about this because getting locked in Rapid Spin would not be fun. That is the main purpose of my Aerodactyl's Taunt so that rocks cannot be set up to begin with. Earthquake is just a great coverage move and with Mold Breaker he is able to hit pokemon with levitate so that is always good. Rock Slide....this move is a God sent. Rock Slide hits dangerous pokemon like Mega-Charizard Y and Talonflame hard before they even get the chance to react thanks to Choice Scarf. Iron Head hits annoying Fairy types. This is good because it helps me deal with a type that I have no other way of dealing with unless I give Lucario Iron Tail(which I really do not want to do since its accuracy is horrible and Lucario is too frail to make mistakes).
Sylveon Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
Evs: 252 HP / 220 Def / 36 SpD
Nature: Bold
-Wish
-Heal Bell
-Protect
-Hyper Voice
Sylveon is one of my wall. He is here to provide reliable switch-ins when I am in a tough spot. The EVs and the nature I used so that Sylveon does not get completely destroyed by physical moves. Wish provides healing for himself and the team. Heal Bell cures any status problems on my team. This is especially for anyone that tries to paralyze or burn my Lucario or Excadrill. I'm still a little iffy about this move since, if I'm not mistaken, Heal Bell is usually used for tanky teams. Someone would probably be more interested in killing my Lucario than paralyzing or burning it. Protect allows it to heal itself with wish and also check to see what moves a pokemon might have. Hyper Voice is my only attacking move, but it takes care of any dragon types that my Lucario cannot take care of with Ice Punch. I need that because pokemon like multiscale Dragonite and Haxorus can tank an Ice Punch from my Lucario and easily kill it.
Gliscor Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
Evs: 252 HP / 200 Spd / 56 Def
Nature: Impish
-Earthquake
-Protect
-Fling
-Acrobatics
Gliscor is my make-shift physical wall. He also provides reliable switch-ins. Impish and his Evs allow him to take physical attacks and heal a lot thanks to Poison heal. Earthquake is his reliable STAB move that deals the most damage. It takes care of any rock types that may try to go against it. Protect is used so that it can stall and heal while the opponent is trying to gain some momentum. I chose Fling instead of Toxic so that Acrobatics increases in damage and hits those fighting types that will give Lucario a lot of trouble.
Well, that's it for my team. I definitely did not write every single role that each pokemon can carry out, but i generalized it to keep the length to a minimum. After writing it out, I feel way more confident in this team, especially since they just won their first battle. Please critique and give me some advice on how I can make this team better.
