So I've been looking at the top of the ladder and I realized that it is all weather... every last team soooooo I decided to try out a weather team for myself, and, being the most versatile, I decided on rain. This team has had quite a bit of success, currently at around 600 on the ladder having lost only 3 matches and then being tweaked. Without further ado, here it is:
Politoed (M) @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Drizzle
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hydro Pump
- Psychic
- Ice Beam
- Focus Blast
Scarf toed makes killing other weather starters quite easy, as well as other common "leads". Hydro Pump is main stab, leaving a dent in the entire meta. The rest are for coverage. Scarf turns toed into an extremely viable offensive presence and keeps him from becoming dead-weight.
Gyarados (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
Gyarados is here simply because I wanted a strong, physical set-up sweeper and I felt feraligater just didn't have the coverage I was looking for, though stab aqua jet was very nice. Basically comes in on something it resists, sets up, and attempts a sweep. I'm open to changes with gyara.
Starmie @ Life Orb
Trait: Natural Cure
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Thunder
- Hydro Pump
- Rapid Spin
- Thunder Wave
Starmie is a fantastic clean up sweeper, as well as my rapid spinner which, with the frequent switching, is quite necessary.
Tornadus (M) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Defiant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Hurricane
- U-turn
- Hidden Power [Electric]
- Focus Blast
Tornadus is definitely my MVP. After taking out anything that outspeeds it (few things), it can tear the meta apart with specs hurricane. Between Hurricane for ridiculous damage (with luck, can 2hko blissey), focus blast for coverage, u-turn for scouting, and hp electric for my annoying gyarados weakness+filler, tornadus is an absolute monster and will never leave the team.
Ludicolo (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Rain Dish
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Giga Drain
- Substitute
- Leech Seed
- Scald
Ludicolo is my special wall. Usually subs after forcing a switch or a weak attack, can seed or attack. I would like to use a different poke here possibly but for now ludi works fine.
Forretress (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Relaxed Nature (+Def, -Spd)
- Stealth Rock
- Counter
- Volt Switch
- Spikes
Forry is my physical wall, setting up hazards and tanking hits. Counter may seem an odd choice but I can't tell you how many times my opponent has sent out something like banded haxorus or dd salamence and I can't outspeed and kill with any poke and forry is the only one who can tank the hit... but that's all he can do. Sit there and tank. Counter solved that problem. If i switch forry to ferro, I can switch ludi to a dif special wall but forry has worked fine so far.
