My first raindance attempt!

Jirachi@Damp Rock
Bold
252 HP/ 80 SpAttk/ 176 Spe

~Rain Dance
~Thunder
~U-Turn
~Wish

I needed a pokemon that could set up a rain and use it. With his decent stats, and versatility, I found
Jirachi as a prime choice for the lead. He sets up the all important rain, and can use it to an extent, with thunder.
His wish can also support the team once in a while.

Kingdra @Life Orb
Naughty
Swift Swim (duh)
252 Atk / 240 SpA/ 16 Spe

~Signal Beam
~Waterfall
~Hydro Pump
~Draco Meteor

Kingdra is a staple in every raindance team, with his nice attack stat boosted by rain, and his NOW impressive speed, he
can put a severe dent into an enemies team. Im a little afraid about whether kingdra has enough speed, but it has not dissapointed...yet.
All in all, hes a very nice pokemon for my team.

Qwilfish@Life orb
Adamant
Swift Swim
252 attk / 4 Def / 252 spe

~Poison Jab
~Waterfall
~Explosion
~Swords Dance

I was opt to replace kabutops with qwilfish because hes
1. Faster
2. Can absorb toxic spikes which appear to be a rain dance bane.
3. All of this at the cost of lower attack seems a fair trade.

He still hits hard and can explode if worst comes to worst

Bronzong@Damp Rock
Levitate
252 HP / 128 Atk / 128 Def
Impish

~Rain Dance
~Explosion
~Reflect
~Stealth Rock

I needed a reliable second rain dancer, and bronzong just stood out to me.
His bulkyness insures that I get a mid-game rain dance and his other support abilities are gladly welcome.
When I find I have no use for him, I simply explode and celebrate a job well done.

Scizor (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 200 Hp/252 attack/56 speed
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- Quick Attack
- Superpower

He basically deals with anything that the wonder twins (kingdra and kabutops) can NOT. He replaced (after being replaced) machamp, simply because he can do the job better then machamp. He still hurts reasonably well, and with rain, his big weakness is toned down a good deal (fire)

Ludicolo @ Damp Rock
Swift Swim
Modest -252 SpA/252 Spe/6 Hp
Rain Dance
Hydro Pump
Ice Beam
Energy Ball

This is an offensive support Ludicolo, and probably the best variation there is. This Ludicolo gets you another 8 turn Rain Dancer, gives you an answer to Suicune and Vaporeon, and also sweeps.

Just a minor nitpick: Why HP Grass on Kingdra? Even to pokemon who are 4x weak to it(Swampert), Hydro Pump does nearly the same in the rain(120 *1.5 * 1.5=270), while HP Grass does 280. It doesn't really make any sense to me, and Quagsire isn't common at all.

Oh, well hp grass was mainly for swampert, but I guess it really is a stupid choice...do you suggest I replace it with rain dance or another hidden power?

It's very dangerous to play in OU without a rapid spinner, and on a rain dance team its very unsafe to play without someone to absorb electric attacks. While scizor is no doubt a great pokemon, you already have a better candidate for taking on Tyranitar (a direct counter acctually), so you might as well use a donphan to absorb electric attacks and spin away stealth rocks.

Donphan can also revenge kill salamence quite well with ice shard, which is a great asset to any offensive team. I put Toxic on mine to help my sweepers break down walls easier.

For Kingdra I would heavily recomend HP Electric, without empoleon and some gyrados can set up on you. Also, swampert will get absolutely wrecked by hydro pump. If you do not want HP electric, then you should add on Rain dance

On Kabutops you can simply put rain dance over aqua jet to create a double dancer. His heavily boosted speed makes aqua jet somewhat unecessary, but if you have been in situations where the rain has run dry against something like a gengar, aqua jet will quickly take care of him.

Other than that you seem to have a very fine team. I wish you the best of luck :D

Thank you very very much! I finally made a somewhat decent team. I wonder if latias would be a threat to my team if scizor is removed however..

Pretty solid team, but here's a suggestion or two.

At a glance, there isn't enough Rain Dancers, so throwing it on Kingdra or something is ideal. Kabutops is too frail to set-up even in rain, so an all-out attacker seems to work better.

Machamp and Donphan seems out of place for this team.

I would recommend Scizor over Machamp, since it could Rain Dance, ridding it's blasted x4 weakness to Fire to an acceptable x2. It check against common weather inducers like Tyranitar and Abomasnow. It could Swords Dance in attempt to late game sweep.

Scizor @Damp Rock
252HP/ 252 Atk/ 4 Spe
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SpA)
-Rain Dance
-Swords Dance
-Bullet Punch
-Brick Break/SuperPower

This Scizor provides support, bulk and power in one big red package.

As for Donphan, I recommend Ludicolo. Since you don't really have any special attacks, he'll do good. Throw on Focus Punch and you could potentially lure out blissey for a swift 2HKO. Then you're Kingdra could eat up everything left.

Something like this:

Ludicolo @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 64 Atk/252 SpA/194 Spe
Modest nature (+SpA, -Atk)
-Surf
-Energy Ball
-Ice Beam
-Focus Punch

In rain, he'll outspeed Salamence and OHKO with Ice Beam. Energy Ball for things like Vaporeon and Starmie.

Lastly, Rain Dance teams aren't really hurt by Spikes or Stealth Rock, only Toxic Spikes should be feared, so put try Qwilfish over Kabutops. They largely have the same job, but Qwilfish absorbs Toxic Spikes and can access Explosion. He makes more use of Swords Dance. Try this:

Qwilfish @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 6 HP/252Atk/252Spe
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SpA)
-Swords Dance
-Waterfall
-Poison Jab
-Explosion

So hope I helped! Good luck on the team!

You're kidding right? You realize that this is a Rain Dance team, correct?

For Kingdra I would heavily recomend HP Electric, without empoleon and some gyrados can set up on you. Also, swampert will get absolutely wrecked by hydro pump. If you do not want HP electric, then you should add on Rain dance

You can't be serious. HP Electric definately doesn't belong. Kingdra has access to Dragon Pulse lategame, Signal beam for Celebi, there are SO many better choices than HP Electric. Go with Signal beam, it OHKOs Celebi, which can be a bitch to this team.

On Kabutops you can simply put rain dance over aqua jet to create a double dancer. His heavily boosted speed makes aqua jet somewhat unecessary, but if you have been in situations where the rain has run dry against something like a gengar, aqua jet will quickly take care of him.

Please, please, please. Just stop rating teams. Thanks :D

Other than that you seem to have a very fine team. I wish you the best of luck :D

Let's get down to business. First off, your lead is great. Keep him. With the Kabutops situation, you can always opt for Qwilfish, who absorbs Toxic spikes, one of the largest and most potent counters to a Rain dance team. Secondly, Qwilfish gets explosion to boom on one of his counters, let's say he has 10 hp or whatever, just go with the inevitable, or take someone down with him. What would you choose, hmm?
Please, remove Donphan AND Machamp. You're creating Rain dance, correct? Run a Support Ludicolo, this will give you another Rain dancer and a great Special attacker mid to late game.

Lastly, Scizor is a must. He stops Tranitar cold, something that really pisses off Rain. He also functions as a great late game sweep. Personally I run a double priority Scizor, but it's up to you.

Good luck.

I'm not an expert on rain dance teams but I've faced a few since I've been battling and I think you still need something to help absorb Electric attacks since it is a very common attacking type in OU nowadays. I suggest a CB Dugtrio. It'll let you switch in on Electric moves and trap the user. It'll also help you against Tyranitar too along with Scizor:

Dugtrio @ Choice Band
Arena Trap
Jolly - 6 HP/ 252 Atk/ 252 Spe
Earthquake
Stone Edge
Sucker Punch
Aerial Ace/Pursuit (I would just use AA for the rare Heracross nowadays)

Also note that Jolly CB Dugtrio won't OHKO 252 HP/0 Def Tyranitar so make sure you weaken him first. I don't know the exact amount of damage it does to it with EQ so you're going to have to do damage calcs for that. But either way, with both Dugtrio and Scizor on your team, Tyranitar shouldn't be a problem.

As for your Support Ludicolo, you can try something like this (found on the Analysis page):

Ludicolo @ Leftovers/ Damp Rock
Swift Swim
Calm - 204 HP / 76 SpA / 124 SpD / 104 Spe
Rain Dance
Surf/ Grass Knot
Ice Beam
Leech Seed/ Grass Knot

Hope this helps a little.

No, I'm saying you should use both... how you would fit him on your team will be up to you testing around. Sorry I can't really be of more help since I've never used Rain Dance teams myself, though I have to admit that since there seems to be a spike in Rain Dance RMTs, I'm kind of tempted to make one myself lol.

Here a link to RaikouLover's Rain Blitz team. It is very outdated for this metagame (it has a Deoxys-E lead and it's before Platinum came out) but maybe you can use it as a guide: http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=45127

Its alright man...ill probably just replace him with...gee this is hard! Every pokemon on my team has a niche...the only one that seems replacable is scizor. So which do you think deals with my problems better?

No. Don't use Dugtrio. He is horrific on Rain Dance. Sure he can trap Ttar and Magnezone, although with Scizor you don't really have to worry because a bullet punch OHKO's any TTar variation, and Magnezone will have trouble taking boosted surfs and Hydro Pumps.

I have a more recent Rain dance team if you would like to see. It will pretty much tell you why Jirachi and Qwilfish and Kabutops were chosen/swapped.

Ludicolo @ Damp Rock
Swift Swim
Modest -252 SpA/252 Spe/6 Hp
Rain Dance
Hydro Pump
Ice Beam
Energy Ball

This is an offensive support Ludicolo, and probably the best variation there is. This Ludicolo gets you another 8 turn Rain Dancer, gives you an answer to Suicune and Vaporeon, and also sweeps.

Yeah, it's chill.

The Zapdos is great, but i find myself using my Jirachi right now due to certain lead circumstances. I hope that you make top 50 :)

Ah I have a minor nit pick:

Scizor only has 30 HP ev's, this isn't a multiple of 4, so your technically losing out on one point

32/252/224 Is what I think you meant.

Anyway I would actually make that scizor more bulky as your running the double priority set.

Something like 200 Hp/252 attack/56 speed
Still letting you outspeed Machamp and the things you were using him to outspeed, but giving scizor that much needed extra bulk.
