My First RMT: The Screwy Bunch

Alright, we have a Pokemon Online newbie here, so look out. If something looks horribly idiotic, that's probably inexperience talking.

I threw this team together trying to avoid the "major" OU Pokemon, and I was trying to explore a few strange options to see how it flowed. So here goes.

Blaze (Mienshao) (M) @ Life Orb Trait: Regenerator
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Hardy Nature
- Fake Out
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Hi Jump Kick
- U-turn

Blaze here tends to be my lead, with Fake Out and U-turn for scouting. I gave him Hi Jump Kick for heavy power, because one of my big fears so far has been special walls. HP Fire is there to round him out and let him surprise foes like Ferrothorn and Scizor.

Tripline (Dugtrio) (M) @ Focus Sash (Life Orb)
Trait: Arena Trap

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant (Jolly) Nature (+Atk, -SAtk) (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Earthquake
- Hone Claws (Sucker Punch)
- Memento
- Stone Edge

Tripline is one of the members of the team most in danger of being replaced, but so far he's proven entertaining enough for novelty factor that he has held on so far. His primary use is for Memento; he can revenge, to a point, by going in, dropping an Earthquake, surviving return fire via Focus Sash, then unloading Memento to set up for Zoroark or Infernape.

Hone Claws, I think, is up for replacement, but I haven't considered alternatives yet. He's too frail in practice to really use it.

EDIT: Changes in bold.

Foxxy (Zoroark) (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Illusion
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature (+Spd, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Flamethrower

This guy tends to come out following Dugtrio, and he tends to play shell games with Infernape; my team is typically ordered so that the Zoroark will mirror him.

Quitter (Archeops) (M) @ Flight Gem
Trait: Defeatist
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Taunt
- Acrobatics
- Stone Edge

Another fast offensive U-Turner. Archeops and Mienshao both serve an important purpose: to use their high speed and heavy STAB moves to break down threats to Infernape and Zoroark.

Laun-Dro-Mat (Rotom-W) @ Choice Specs
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Hardy Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hydro Pump
- Trick
- Thunderbolt

It's a Rotom-W with Specs. Pretty straightforward, I think.

Ba-Boon (Infernape) (M) @ Fire Gem
Trait: Blaze
EVs: 40 HP / 252 SAtk / 216 Spd
Modest Nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Nasty Plot
- Heat Wave
- Grass Knot
- Vacuum Wave

This was the oddest one, and strangely the most effective at messing with people. The Nasty Plot lets him "pretend" to be a disguised Zoroark, and all three of his moves hit hard and fast.

Be harsh if you like. It's my first RMT and first PO team. To be perfectly honest, I'm not terribly interested in winning, if it means I otherwise have fun with "gimmick" teams like this; there's not much fun in going in with a carbon-copy OU allstar team and winning that way, for me.

I've got a couple suggestions...

infernape.png

Infernape @ Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
Nature: Jolly
Evs: 4hp/252atk/252spd
-Flare Blitz
-U-Turn
-Close Combat
-Mach Punch
Mach Punch lets you kill Exca, an otherwise lethal threat to the team.

dugtrio.png

Dugtrio @ Choice Band/Life Orb
Ability: Arena Trap
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 4hp/252atk/252spd
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Sucker Punch
-Shadow Claw
Still a trapper. Hit hard and fast.

Hope I helped(:

Is Iron Fist Infernape released? I'd rather avoid DW tier for now, if not.

Iron Fist Mach Punch is certainly a heavier hit, but Vacuum Wave is still priority STAB Fighting, and the NP set has some charm for me.

The Dugtrio set, however, looks great. I've gone onto teambuilder and switched the Sash for a Life Orb and Hone Claws for Sucker Punch; for the moment, though, I'm going to leave Memento on the set instead of Shadow Claw. I really like his ability to often guarantee me getting Infernape or Zoroark in on something that I can Nasty Plot against; even something that would normally be a threat, really doesn't scare me at -2/-2.

(Edit: Dude, the Sucker Punch ALREADY saved my butt against a Gengar that was dismantling my team. Nice!)

HP ice over HP fire on Mienshao. HJK already deals massive damage to Scizor and Ferrothorn. Use HP ice for Gliscor, Dragonite and Salamence

Personally I don't think Mienshao should be running HP at all. Stone Edge hits Dragonite and Salamence harder, and it can just U-turn out when Gliscor appears.

Hi dude.

-HUGE Excadrill weakness and SS weakness in general when Rotom-W is down. As wierd as it sounds, Zoroark is probably your least valuble member of your team because u already have a special sweeper (ape), dugtrio traps and revenge-kills things and archeops and miehshao give nice momentum with U-turn so I suggest changing it for this:

Skarmory (M) @ Leftovers
Trait: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 240 Def / 16 Spd
Impish Nature (+Def, -SAtk)
- Spikes
- Whirlwind
- Roost
- Brave Bird

This helps u dealing with sandstorm a lot more effectively.

-Change Archeops for Choice Scarf Hygreigon, it just balances your team a lot more.

Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpAtk 252 Spe 4 HP
Timid nature (+Spe -Atk)
-Draco Meteor
-Surf
-Focus Blast/Fire Blast
-U-turn

-Finally, since u already have a revenge killer, I suggest that u change Dugtrio for Swords Dance-Roost Scizor. Again, it balances your team a lot.

Scizor @ Leftovers/Life Orb
Trait: Technician
EVs: 240 HP / 16 Atk / 252 SDef
Adamant Nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Swords Dance
- Bug Bite
- Bullet Punch
- Roost

-As the other guy suggested, get rid of HP Ice for Stone Edge.

Good luck.

I'm definitely seconding the suggestions made by the previous poster though all of these changes still leave you quite vulnerable to the likes of Volcarona and his buddies commonly found on Sun teams. In order to remedy this problem I'd like to suggest having Specially Defensive Heatran used in place of Infernape. This will provide a counter to all of the previously mentioned threats while also benefitting your team in many other ways. For example, it gives you a user of Stealth Rock to work with Spikes allowing you to hit everything for at least some damage on the switch. You can also use Roar to help rack up extra entry hazard damage which is always a plus. Heatran is also works exceptionally well along side Skarmory, Rotom-W, and Scizor. Use a Calm (+SDef, -Atk) nature and EV spread of 248 HP / 252 SDef / 8 Spd. Leftovers is the item of choice as Heatran has no method of automatic recover and therefore the extra HP gained is extremely helpful. Finally, the moveset consists of Lava Plume l Stealth Rock l Protect l Roar / Toxic. The move used in the last slot all depends on if you want to assist Skarmory by phazing around opponents and forcing them to be hits by Spikes or if you feel like destroying common switch-ins such as T-Tar and Water-types. Anyways, good team and good luck.

I appreciate the suggestions, but I'm not sure I'm very interested in adding in "stock" copies of some of the most commonly used pokemon in OU. (Honestly, it's for that reason I've considered swapping Rotom-W for something else; the only reason I've stuck with him is because when he's been useful, he's been absolutely indispensable).

Maybe I'm better suited for playing in UU or RU... I just don't have much interest in winning, if winning means running the same pokemon that I see over and over again.

I'm not trying to seem ungrateful, by any means. I hope you guys don't feel like I've wasted your time.
