My First RMT

This is my first RMT (and Smogon post), UU is my favourite tier and I'd like to think I can make an ok team. Here it is:

*CHANGES IN BOLD*
dpmfb424.png

Ambipom (Adamant) @ Life Orb
Ability : Technician
EVs : 252 Atk 252 Speed 4 HP
- Fake Out
- Taunt
- U-Turn
- Low Kick

Ambipom makes a good lead. He has the right movepool and good stats to use the moves.
I wanted Low Kick and Legend1 suggested it instead of Return. Fake Out deals good damage
with Technician, STAB and Life Orb, and Low Kick is there for Steel types I couldn't hit otherwise.
U-Turn is good for scouting and Taunt prevents other leads from setting up entry hazards.

454_toxicroak_1_m.png

Toxicroak (Jolly) @ Life Orb
Ability : Dry Skin
EVs : 252 Atk 252 Speed 4 HP
- Swords Dance
- Cross Chop
- Sucker Punch
- Rock Slide

Toxicroak is a hard hitting physical sweeper does it well. He can switch in on a water type,
absorb the hit, set up a SD and, hopefully, sweep. Cross Chop is there for obvious STAB and
Sucker Punch is for faster pokes. Rock Slide is used over Stone Edge for better accuracy and
a chance of a flinch.

272_ludicolo_1_m.png

Ludicolo (Modest) @ Choice Scarf
Ability : Rain Dish
EVs : 252 Sp.Atk 252 Speed 4 Sp.Def
- Hydro Pump
- Energy Ball
- Ice Beam
- HP Ground

Ludicolo is the wild card on my team. People don't really know what kind of Ludicolo this
is until it's too late. Ludicolo's average speed and good movepool make it a great Choice
Scarf user. Hydro Pump and Energy Ball give good STAB coverage and Ice Beam hit Grass
types. I originally had Focus Blast but DarthChocoboz suggested HP Ground and I realised
that was the better choice.

146.png

Moltres (Timid) @ Leftovers
Ability : Pressure
EVs : 252 Spd 200 Sp.Atk 56 Sp.Def
- Fire Blast
- Air Slash
- Substitute
- Roost

SubRoost Moltres is a good poke. Fire Blast and Air Slash give good STAB and quite
good coverage. Substitute prevents me from status and gives me a safety net whilst
Roost is for recovery when I get low on HP. Max Speed so I get up my Sub quickly and
some Sp.Atk EVs for added power, the rest dumped into Sp.Def for added survivability.

344.png

Claydol (Bold) @ Leftovers
Ability : Levitate
EVs : 252 HP 200 Def 56 Sp.Def
- Rapid Spin
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Psychic/Shadow Ball

I originally had Blastoise here but he wasn't working out. Legend1 suggested
Claydol and he fitted in well. Being more bulky than Blastoise and giving me
another Ground immunity he was just what I needed. Rapid Spin helps Moltres
out and Stealth Rock is there to rack up entry hazard damage. Earth Power and
Psychic can be used for STAB but Shadow Ball is there to hit Spin Blockers like Mismagius.

Registeel.png

Registeel (Careful) @ Leftovers
Abililty : Clear Body
EVs : 252 HP 252 Sp.Def 4 Def
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Iron Head
- Earthquake

Registeel is my Special Wall and does his job well. He walls the hit and takes the status.
I didn't have a good enough Venusaur counter and EonADS suggested having a RestTalk set.
Iron Head is there for STAB and Earthquake hits Steel types etc. If there are any other suggestions
about moves for him I will try them out.

Hey there Brutal, welcome to the forums!

For a first team. i would say that the team you've made is very impressive!

Ambipom is a great lead, and the moveset you've used seems effective. If you would like Low kick in there somewhere, i would have to go with replacing return. Keep in mind that with a technician boost, it can be effective even on pokemon without high weight.

Toxicroak looks pretty good, but i would have to suggest having stone edge, even with its accuracy issue, as it can turn 2HKO's into 1HKO's.

Ludicolo is a very unusual pokemon to see in UU, especially a choice scarfed one, but i suppose that makes it a good surprise, can't disagree with the moveset though, i think that's all the good moves he has access to.

Moltres seems like your standard sub roost set, though i believe the ev spread you have chosen means that most of your subs will be broken easily, perhaps you could remove a couple speed ev's as moltres has good speed already, and put the extra into Sp.Def.

Blastoise is a common pokemon in UU with a moveset exactly like yours, and usually ends up working pretty well, but if you feel its not working out for you, why not try someone like claydol, with access to cosmic power as well as the support moves you're looking for.

Registeel is a good support/ wall pokemon, and the only thing i can think of replacing is shadow claw for something like explosion, incase of a pokemon that seems to be a nuisance to you.

Overall its a fantastic team and i hope that i have helped you a little. If you do make some changes, please, do tell me how it works out for you.:toast:

Thanks for the rate! I think Claydol would be a good replacement for Blastoise and here's the set I came up with:

344.png

Claydol (Bold) @ Leftovers
Ability : Levitate
EVs : 252 HP 200 Def 56 Sp.Def
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic
- Earth Power
- Psychic/Shadow Ball

Claydol gives me another nice ground immunity and electric immunity, and is very bulky. Anything needed changing on Claydol?

Maybe Use Stealth rock or explosion on claydol and definatly explosion on registeel
toxic is pretty nifty on registeel as dual status is not common
you could also have iron head on registeel for para-flinching however shadow claw s-toss works well for rotom and missey
I suggest explosion soley for miotic, chansey and clefable which can easily be the most annoying things in UU.
`I would also suggest HP ground some where for coverage since you only have claydol for ground.
I would also suggest Focus sash for toxicroak since you have a spinner and Focus sash helps with toxicroaks longevity.

Should I put HP Ground on Ludicolo because it covers Steels and the only Dark types (which is also what Focus Blast is there for) in UU are:

Absol - Definate OHKO w/ Hydro Pump after SR damage
Drapion - Hit Super Effectively by HP Ground
Houndoom - Hit Super Effectively by Hydro Pump + HP Ground
Spiritomb - Not hit by Focus Blast anyway

Change ambipom's nature to jolly, so it can outspeed stuff it wants to taunt; definitely have SR on either your registeel or claydol, give ludicolo the ability swift swim since it is an offensive set and you may benefit from opposing team's rain dance.

You might want to try out using Substitute on Croak, as it enjoys being immune to status and other priority. Probably over Stone Edge/Rock Slide, as Dark/Fighting coverage is pretty much perfect anyways.

What do you do about Venusaur? Let it sleep Registeel and then bring in Moltres?

I suggest changing Registeel to a standard RestTalker, then giving Claydol Stealth Rock over Toxic. Toxic won't help him much anyway, most of his counters are either frail, or have an immunity to it (read: Venusaur again), so it won't be of much use. That'll give the team a chance againt Venusaur.

Seconding Swift Swim on Ludicolo. You need something to check Rain Teams, and Ludi is perfect for that.

That looks good.
But instead of Ambipom, I would have a Primeape with Close combat, Ice punch, U turn and Earthquake.
Primeape can OHKO lots of pokemon.
I still think that it is good though

No. The fact that Ambipom has Fake Out AND Taunt makes him a much better lead than Primeape in just about every competetive perspective.

However, I would have to say Dragon Pulse > Air Slash on Moltres. That way, you have unresisted coverage in the tier.

(Taking a break from the war I started on the VGC page. Join in if you wanna!)

Thanks for all the rates. On Registeel, if I have a RestTalk set, what moves should I replace them for? SR and T-Wave or SR and Shadow Claw?

^ Run Iron Head / Earthquake (or Shadow Claw if you're really concerned about ghosts) / Rest / Sleep Talk. That allows it to check Venusaur perfectly and act as a Special sponge.

Fairly strong team. There are a few things that I see though that could use some tweaking. Ambipom is a fun lead to use, and if you play him smartly and keep him alive, he will double as your revenge killer as he will utilize Fake Out and his high speed later in the match. This makes having a secondary revenge killer in Ludicolo a bit redundant. I think you should keep him on your team, but change his set to his standard Rain Dance set. Now you will have an additional sweeper on your team, and you won't lose a revenge killer.

Ludicolo @ Life Orb
Swift Swim
Modest
32 HP / 252 SpA / 224 Spe
Hydropump
Energy Ball
Ice Beam
Rain Dance

On Toxicroak, I am going to suggest using Taunt to stop the likes of Slobro, Spiritomb, and Uxie from statusing you. Substitute + Life Orb will rake up lots of residual damage on Toxicroak. Moltres hits like a truck. Maximize his damage and use a spread of 252 sp atk / 252 speed / 4 sp def. On Registeel, change Earthquake to Curse. This will let him set up and do more damage, as well as being a pain to take out after a few Curses. He will still check Venusaur, but now he's more versatile and can even sweep.

That's about all I could find, it was a nice team to begin with. I hope I helped out and good luck with the team.
