My first shot at a Sandstorm Team.

Please keep in mind that the only game I have is White, so things like 4th Gen move tutors are outside of my grasp.

I've been playing around with team building for awhile. I'm very inexperienced, and frankly, I know I suck, but I'd like to at least have something. I tried working with rain before, but I don't have enough Dream Points to get Poliwag, and even then I don't have things like Scizor, Latios or a GOOD Thundurus. Anyway, I decided to at least try my hand at team building, though I doubt it'll be that good.

There's a few things to note. I don't like using legendaries. I don't really have the patience to try to get the best nature and IVs for them. Also, like said previously, I'm locked into generation 5 with no access to generation 4, so please keep that in mind. All things that are from Generation 4 were from my friends. Also I am terrible with EV spreads... Help a newb out. Also, although I have it listed, I lack a 3rd Leftovers. Anyone know where to get one?

Anyway, let's begin.

Tyranitar @ Focus Sash/Leftovers
Nature: Brave(+ATK, -SPD)
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP, 252 ATK, 4 Def

Stealth Rocks
Fire Blast
Stone Edge/Earthquake
Pursuit/Crunch

Ttar is my starter. He pretty much sets up sandstorm and helps the rest of my team along. Brave nature is to make him slower than the other weather starters so that he can get his weather active. Focus Sash so he can at least get Stealth Rocks up, though Leftovers might be useable for survivability. Fire Blast takes care of common grass type switch ins like Venusaur and Sawsbuck if Ninetails flees, and also Ferrothorn. Stone Edge has STAB, but Earthquake is also a possibility. Pursuit and Crunch can be alternated.

Excadrill @ Choice Band/Life Orb
Nature: Adamant(+ATK, -Sp.ATK)
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 4 HP, 252 ATK, 252 SPD

X-Scissor
Rock Slide
Earthquake
Return/Shadow Claw/Swords Dance

I know the common Excadrill uses Air Balloon, but Choice Band seems to work nicely as well. The EV spread is made to maximize Excadrill's huge attack and somewhat poor speed, but thanks to Sand Rush, it becomes very nice. X-Scissor hits a lot of things for neutral coverage. Rock Slide is a poor man's Stone Edge, but it gets the job done. Earthquake is an all around move, and gets nice STAB off of Excadrill's huge attack. Return can be used as a filler move, but Shadow Claw is also an option in case of Gengar and the likes. If I go Life Orb route, I use Swords Dance. The question is, what really out-speeds him in the sand? I know Air Balloon is used as a way to survive the opponent's 'check' after my Sword's Dance, but I honestly like the raw damage output more.

Jellicent @ Leftovers
Nature: Bold(+DEF, -ATK)
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP, 252 DEF, 4Sp.ATK

Scald/Surf
Shadow Ball
Will-o-Wisp
Recover

A standard Jellicent set. I can't remember if you want Calm or Bold, so help me out here. The EV spread maximizes Jellicent's bulkiness. Scald can be used to cripple physical threats sometimes, while Surf provides a stronger STAB. Shadow Ball gets STAB and also has a chance of lowering the opponent's Sp.DEF. Will-o-Wisp cripples physical attackers and Recover, along with leftovers, helps Jellicent shrug off any sandstorn damage and wall like a beast. Honestly, this set is pretty darn standard.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Nature: Sassy(+Sp.DEF, -SPD)
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Sp.DEF, 4 ATK

Thunder Wave
Protect
Power Whip/Gyro Ball
Leech Seed/Spikes

Another somewhat standard set. The Nature is because, well, Ferrothorn's speed is pretty much non-existent to begin with, and boosting it's Sp.DEF is a good idea. The EV spread helps add to its bulk. Thunder Wave cripples fast Pokemon so my slower guys have a shot, and also can stop the opponent from attacking at all while I set up on them. Protect is a prediction move and also checks my opponent. Power Whip can be a surprisingly strong attack, but Gyro Ball can also be really strong. Leech Seed causes switching and helps Ferrothorn recover, but Spikes can help set up a dual entry hazard with Stealth Rocks.

Reuniclus @ Life Orb
Nature: Bold(+Def, -ATK)
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP, 252 DEF, 4 Sp.ATK

Calm Mind
Recover
Psychic/Psyshock
Focus Blast

Surprisingly, Reuniclus is fairly durable. Bold helps add onto this, and the EV spread helps a lot as well. Calm Mind helps boost Reuniclus' Sp.ATK and Sp.DEF while my opponent is incapacitated, and allows Reuniclus to sweep and unprepared team. Recover helps him stall out opponents by shrugging off damage taken. Psychic is a powerful STAB coming off of Reuniclus' base Sp.ATK, but Psyschock can also be used in case of gals like Chansey/Blissey. Focus Blast is an obvious last choice, though it's accuracy leaves something to be dearly desired.

Rotom W @ Choice Scarf
Nature: Timid(+SPD, -ATK)
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP, 252 SPD, 4 Sp.ATK

Volt Switch/Thunderbolt
Hydro Pump
Hidden Power(Ice)/Will-O-Wisp
Trick

Originally Gastrodon was here, and while he could wall rain teams, he couldn't do much back to them. I started playing around and doing some research, and I found that Rotom W actually does what I wanted Gastrodon to do and then some. The Nature and EVs help Rotom W outspeed common threats so he can either Volt Switch away from danger or Trick the opponent. Volt Switch does what I just said, but Thunderbolt can be used if I need raw power. Hydro Pump is a powerful STAB move. Hidden Power Ice can be used against common dragon and grass threats, but Will-O-Wisp can be used as a way to cripple physical attackers. Trick is a no brainer since it's what Rotom W's nature and EVs are designed around. Sadly, I do not have access to 4th Gen, so I can't get Pain Split.

It's my first time making a sandstorm team, so feel free to give as much criticism as necessary, but please remember that I only have 5th gen games.

Seems like a solid team, to get good ivs/ moves/ natures on pokemon you should see if you can get someone to sav you some stuff and trade it over.

Replace gastrodon with quagsire to help deal with exadrill, landorous, thunderous, and other boosting sweepers. You already have ferrothorn and jellicant to handle rain teams. I also suggest changing exadrills item to sweep better. Otherwise decent team

I would if I could, but I don't have a Dream World Wooper. However, the question is, which is truly better? Yes, Quagsire has Stockpile and Unaware, but in the turns he's setting up his stockpiles, won't guys like Exca and the Genies just beat him down? Also, if I remember correctly, Quagsire only has Rest, while Gastrodon has recover. While Rest can be worked around with Sleep Talk, that means Quagsire only has one attacking move.

Quagsire gets recover.
Is it possible for Dream World Quagsire to have Recover + Stockpile?

And how would I come about to get a Dream World Wooper? Anyone have one?

I think the motto of my team should be: Making due with what I have.... lol.
