My First UU Team.

I know. Noobish name. O: But anyways, this is my first UU team as the title states. I'm fairly new to UU, but this team has managed to grab itself a lot of wins, and not too many losses.

Xatu (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP/216 Def/16 SAtk/24 SDef
Calm nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Psychic
- Thunder Wave
- Wish
- U-turn

What Xatu Does: Xatu is a really cool pokemon and a great lead. So far I haven't encountered too many leads that can scare Xatu off. Xatu is one of my two fighting resists, and he makes a great one, seeing has he x4 resists fighting. Helps support the team as well, with Thunder Wave and Wish support.

Blastoise (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP/200 Def/56 SAtk
Bold nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Surf
- Rapid Spin
- Toxic
- Ice Beam

What Blastoise Does: The annoying Turtle with Wish support. Spreads status with Toxic. Pretty standard stuff. This is definitely a key pokemon to my team, as Stealth Rock hurts this team quite a bit. Blastoise fits the spinner role nicely, as he switches in easily to two common Stealth Rockers: Steelix and Claydol.

dpmba045.png

Vileplume (M) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 HP/52 Def/148 SAtk/56 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Energy Ball
- Sludge Bomb
- Sleep Powder
- Aromatherapy

What Vileplume Does: To my experience with UU, most people hate Vileplume. Especially with Wish support. This serves as a second fighting resist and is helps remove status from my team. Sleep Powder is just extra status to spread.

Aggron (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Rock Head
EVs: 252 HP/240 Atk/16 Def
Adamant nature (+Atk, -SAtk)
- Focus Punch
- Substitute
- Stone Edge
- Double-edge

What Aggron Does: Aggron is a badass. Provides as my physical wall, as well as Physical Clefable and Swellow counter. Double-Edge is filler pretty much, as something to hit Claydol when it switches in to Earth Power Aggron before I have to switch out.

dpmba323.png

Camerupt (M) @ Choice Specs
Ability: Solid Rock
EVs: 196 HP/60 Atk/252 SAtk
Quiet nature (+SAtk, -Spd)
- Earth Power
- Overheat
- Explosion
- Hidden Power [Grass]

What Camerupt Does: Definitely my favorite pokemon on the team. This thing hits everything hard. Overheat OHKOs most things that don't resist it. Grass is for Poliwraths and other water pokemon I predict switching into Camerupt. Also walls most verisons of Rotom. EVs allow 250 Atk. HP EVs for survivability.

dpmba471.png

Glaceon (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 HP/252 SAtk/4 SDef
Modest nature (+SAtk, -Atk)
- Ice Beam
- Wish
- Hidden Power [Fighting]
- Fake Tears

What Glaceon Does: Another Wish Supporter. You may think 2 Wish Support pokemon is bad, but it actually helps in numerous situations. Counters CM Clefable nicely and forces switches with Fake Tears. Glaceon off the analysis. Also makes a nice special wall.

About the Team:

Pros: - Extremely supportive - Lots of bulky pokemon - Cleric - Forces switches - Counters many big threats in UU

Cons: - Can be slow at times - Lacks Stealth Rock support, which makes the switches the team forces go unpunished (Really need to find room for Stealth Rock) - Has trouble against Focus Punch/Ice Punch/Sub/Hypnosis Poliwrath - The team is very slow (Xatu is the fastest on the team.) And that's the team. Hopefully you take the time to fix it.

If you want to try fit in some Stealth Rock support than you could try it on Camerupt. Although I wouldn't want to take its Specs away. I'd be generally worried if a 0 speed Xatu is your fastest pokemon considering how Persian runs over this set quite easily. I'm of opinion Early Bird would actually be better if you don't plan on doing Lum Berry + Synchronize. I'd also replace Double Edge on Aggron with Ice Punch.

Although you have a very good type balance and support they don't really work towards any kind of setup or finisher. In short what you have is a very well thought out defensive team which can live quite long but does no real damage or threatens back.

You only have what I would say one real threatening offensive Pokemon being Camerupt. Vileplume and Glaceon are sort of threatening but thats not what they're really meant to be doing here. You also lack any sort of priority move and quite frankly I'd be very worried about that.

In short I'd simply say either get those Stealth Rocks somewhere or replace someone to backup Camerupt on the offensive front when hes down. For your Poliwrath woes, I can't really think of anything you could do besides have Xatu maul it with Psychic.

You might want to put Trick Room onto Xatu. This team SERIOUSLY lacks speed, that can be used to your advantage.

U can make this a trick room team, but 1 trick roomer isnt enough... And where's ur SR'er? So we need a pokemon able to SR and trick room and able to do the job of the poke we're going to replace, i got it: CLAYDOL over blastoise and it adds u a new fighting resist. Try this:

Claydol w/Lefties
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP/ 216 Def/ 40 SpDef
IVs: 0 Spd
~Earthpower
~SR
~Rapid spin
~Trick room
Good luck with the team! =)

Black Sludge gives your opponent another item to Trick, and with the recently high usage of Trick, due it being a tutor move in Platinum, that's not something you should risk. I would give Vileplume Leftovers, without any hesitation.

And yeah, you lack Speed could easily backfire. For instance, your lack of Speed means you're unable to revengekill anything. Wallbreakers, Nidoking in particular, seriously screw you over. The standard moveset actually hit everything on your team for super effective damage, so you're obviously unable to switch in anything without atleast getting 2HKOd. So for starters, Miltank I would give Miltank a try, which probably is the best Nidoking-counter in UU, as well as providing some support to your team. With all your current support, I find it a bit amusing that no Pokémon got Stealth Rock lol. Miltank does as well provide Cleric for your team, and fit better in your team than Vileplume IMO.

Honestly, I don't like your Xatu lead. :/ Aerodactyl and Steelix is way to common leads, and Xatu isn't doing a lot in return. According to DjD's stats, the top 5 leads will have the upper hand, while you'll only encounter two Pokémon on the top 10 you can beat - namely Primeape and Hitmontop, and the latter still gives you a lot of trouble. If you were to take my advice on Miltank I would personally rather lead with her to get Stealth Rock on the field ASAP, and she doesn't really have any particular bad matchups. Xatu should really be saved for later, for your huge Hitmonlee (Fighting in general, really) weakness. Roost would make up a lot for the damage from Stealth Rock, but if you really insist on having two Pokémon with Wish, getting rid of U-turn is another idea.

Good luck!

...
What's up with the thread necroing?
This is 2 months old.

This was before the addition of Aero and all.
